Help me out here?

I'm a new author trying to get things moving, and I have an idea for a book. The idea for the book might sound crazy, but I need as much help as I can get, and I would really apreciate it.
The idea is that I would collect ghost stories from around the world, true or not. If you want to share it, that would be great, or if you don't want everyone reading it, you can send it directly to me. If you do, add where it's from and whether it's real or not (if it's a true story, it doesn't have to invlove you, it could be from a friend). If you want, you can give me your real name or I'll just use your forum name. I will give you full credit for your story, unless you want it to be anonymous (in that case I will not use your name, or you could change the names of anyone in the story for privacy).
I really apreciate the help and I would like to thank anyone who contributes in advance.

There are lot's of books out there just like that, already. I am wondering what exactly is the point of your "book," do you want to promote the belief in the supernatural? Are you going to try to prove that some of the stories are true? Why have fictional and "real" stories together? Are you trying to make money off this?

I wonder if this should be in the 'books' area?

More like Arts & Crafts, I think -- movin' along.

If there are books that are like mine, I haven't seen them.
The point of this book is not to promote anything or to prove a point, and I don't plan to make money off of it either. I'm doing this solely because it's something I'm interested in and the idea came to me.
Now, I don't want to argue, but the way I see it, you don't seem to believe in my book or anything in it, am I right?

I don't think he said anything on the matter.

I got you a jump-start right here. A little tip, though -- unless this book is thick, and has some particular demographic aspect to it, like commentary, or age targeting not normally used for ghost stories, you're going to have a rough time getting it out there.

Do some research. Like, 5 seconds of it. Preferable at least half-an-hour of it. There are *tons*of books like that already out there.

Skyshot: You're probably right, but it's better to be sure, right? And thanks for the tips.

Lockeownzj00: I know there are books like that out there, but what I mean is books that focus on the kind of combinations and details I'm looking for.

Care to enlighten us on the combinations and details?

Anyways, I recommend taking your research here. Alternately, there's the Library of Congress. I remember hearing a while back they have a copy of every book published or something like that. Someone care to back me up or prove me wrong on that?

EDIT: Well, I meant in the thread, but adamark PM'd me, so I'll post it here. Quote is the entirety of the PM.

I know for a fact that the Library on Congress doesn't have every book. There are literally thousands of secret books in constant print that Congress knows about but doesn't keep on file. They are fraternity and sorority ritual books. There are also numerous occult books that are so rare and secretive that Congress doesn't even know about those.

But for all intents and purposes, it's perfectly normal to hear the claim that Congress has every book published in America. The word "public" is simply omitted from that statement. Congress has every 'public' book.

I have the picture in my head, but I'm the kind of person who has trouble describing things. I just know it's different.
