Spider-Man Continuity
 

I just picked up the GNs of "Sins Past" and "Coming home".

I was wondering if someone who knows would mind filling me in on current goings on in spidey-land.

When did Mary Jane Leave/die/whatever? When did she come back? What happened after Aunt May found out about Peter's Identity as Spider-Man?

Just give me a timeline er something - I can't keep up with it all.

I don't remember when MJ left (they were seperated but still married), but she came back in the last comic of the GN "The Life and Death of Spiders." Highly amusing read, so I don't think I'll spoil it.

I don't remember what happened right before Aunt May found out, but he had just come back from some big fight all beat up and she finds his costume just lying there while he's sleeping. After that, they had some talking and she came to terms with it.

Well, "coming home" is where May finds him there -(Thats one of the GNs i just bought).

Why did MJ & Peter seperate anyway? The 'super-hero wife's' life getting to her? Another man?

Oh well... at least she didn't die er something.

So, timeline:

- MJ's in a plane that blows up, presumed dead.
- Parker's (even more) depressed and bitchy for a while
- It turns out the plane blowing up was engineered by some dude so he could kidnap MJ.
- Then it turns out he's not even interested in MJ, just fucking around with Spider-Man. He has some power/memory absorbing ability and decided he wants to be Peter Parker or some stupid shit, I don't know.
- So Peter saves MJ, and MJ's like thanks for saving me, by the way I'm leaving you. I'm not exaggerating or embellishing, it was pretty much exactly like that.
- So Parker's like, well fuck.
- MJ fucks off to Hollywood to push her acting career, Parker goes off and fights another power-eating jackass named Morlun, who was at least sort of cool and this old guy with Native American Spider-Powers shows up too.
- Parker beats the bad guy, goes home and passes out in bed to let his bones knit, May comes over for a visit and sees his Spider-Man costume lying on the floor and sees him all beat up.
- May's all You're Spider-Man? Crazyness! Ah well stuff happens. By the way we should go down to LA so you can beg your wife to take you back.
- So they go to LA so Peter can beg MJ to take him back, and finally she's like well fuck okay I guess. Also, Doctor Octopus attacks them, as well as a bunch of dead mobsters glued together out of gamma radiation.

And that basically is it.

Hm. MJ was that much of a jerk huh? What made her all mad and leave pete, anyway?

In a nutshell, she felt he didn't need her. Kind of a whiny thing to do, if you ask me.

Yeah, they'd been doing some really crappy stuff with MJ in the comics previous to JMS coming on board to fix everything that was wrong with Amazing Spider-Man. I am not at all a fan of the most recent trade paperback collections (numbers 7 and 8 I believe) but all of JMS's work on the title previous to that and after it is golden.

I like the variation of artists they have working on the Spider-Man titles myself - Even the mediocre artists have a style I find intetresting and enjoyable.

That aside, I'm glad that they are bringing the MJ-Peter relationship back to status quo. Just please don't let them do anything stupid like resurect Gwen Stacy and have a 12-chapter seiris about they're love triangle only to find out she was a robot (spider-slayer?)

I hear they're bringing Morlun back. If JMS (wow, that's so much easier to type than just his last name) is writing it, which I think he is, I am all tingly with anticipation.

How could they bring Morlun Back? He... yeah know... did the thing that Aeirth did in ff7...
