S-cry-ed: Let Slip the Dogs of War
After dealing with the young alter user Checkers had discovered Sev made arrangments for the care of Checkers charge. With that they left for the main city and waited for the attack. Sev found a tall deserted building and set up camp on the roof. He sat on the edge with his feet hanging over the void and watched the last stragglers and the looters running around under him like ants.

The Closed Fist arrived near the city, they stopped on one of the many ridges that surround the great metropolis. Looking down he saw that they had indeed evacuated. "Here we are my soldiers. We are about to initiate the greatest alter battle of all time. Always remember, win or lose we push our people further so that we can combat the true enemy the mainland." Raising his hand into the air his alter formed. Following suit the others also called out their alters. "As the great playwrite once put it, Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war!" With that he lowed his arm pointing it towards the city. "ATTACK!"

GadGad and Goudaraby traveled together for a few days. On the first night, they saw a flash of rainbow-colored light, but neither knew what to make of it other than it was probably caused by an alter-fight. As they traveled, GadGad spoke of simple things like what he saw and what they could eat, and Goudaraby put up with his foolish talk. The two got along fairly well, considering how different their personalities were. Perhaps it was because they both wanted to help people. Perhaps it was just because GadGad was too childish and naïve to warrant hatred. Whatever the reason, the two arrived at Hayama together on the day that the city would be attacked, not that they knew that.
Hayama had changed from how it exists in our time. It was nearly destroyed in the cataclysm that produced the lost ground; the royal villa had slipped off the world and into the sea, and the resorts that hadn’t fallen with it were unusable. Over time, Hayama was repopulated, becoming a popular port and, about the time that GadGad was born, a reviving tourist spot. It still hadn't become a large city again, but it was a fairly large town for the lost ground. When GadGad and Goudaraby arrived, it was much like it was when GadGad left. As they entered the city, the sounds of the ocean started to sound above the populace and the rare automobile. “Well,” GadGad said suddenly, “It’s been fun traveling with you. I’ll see you later!” He spun on his heel and started off down a side street. He wanted to see his old home. OOC: h4x., if there are any problems with this course of actions that you didn't notice until now, feel free to call me on it. I can always edit it some more. |
If Raviel had ever thought of Renor to be a coward, all doubts of his leader's fearlessness would have disappeared just with this single offensive. However, he was worried about something other than bravery.
"Sir, is this wise?" asked Raviel, stepping beside Renor. "Blindly charging in from the front, with the enemy already prepared for us?" |
((OOC: Just prior to the Closed Fist attack))
Nat jumps off the back of the old man's pickup, and walks up to the window. "Thanks of ride, man. I do appricate it." The old man nodded. "You were pretty good company. Listen: The guard at the gate told me something is going to go down in the city...something big. I'm leaving as soon as I fuel up. I could use a guy like you at my place. Why not come along with me?" Nathaniel shook his head. "Thanks for offering, but I get the feeling I'm going to be needed here. I'll keep it in mind though." With a handshake, the old man drives off, leaving Nathaniel in a comons area of the city. Hefting his pack, Nathaniel goes off in search for a cheap motel. |
Placing his hand on the young mans shoulder he spoke with confidence. "That is true from a stratigic perspective. They are intrenched and military doctorine dictates you should have three men for every one intrenched. Since we are most likely outnumbered it does not bode well. But remember this is not the time for cunning." He gave a sigh, "we are not strong enough to defend from the mainland for long. Do to the alter power it is hard to get food here, we need the outside world. The Mainland doesn't need to beat us, just outlast us. We must bring the fight to them. This is not a fight to win, none of them were. The fight was for our alters and theirs to grow and strengthen."
For a moment he remained silent. Remembering his own trial and suffering through these many years. "Think about it, do you think you would have been this strong without these battles? Do you think you would have ever been able to call out your second form? It was the thrill of the battle and desire for improvement that called out mine and for one reason or another, we need battle to discover how to obtain that power." |
Kaita walked through the nearly abandoned city without any kind of concern. He'd been hired, even just a couple days after his fight, to help defend part of the city. It didn't seem like much of a job, but it was something. He still had no idea what he was getting into, though.
Other than his clothes looking a little roughed up from a couple days ago, Kaita was completely healed. His worst wound was his leg, and that was easy with technology these days, but Kaita only sewed up the hole in his jeans, leaving a reddish-brown blood stain to cover most of his thigh. He honestly didn't care about that, considering the circumstances. "Damn it, I gotta look for that guy. Where are these so-called invaders that guy was talking about anyway!" Kaita thought with an annoyed look on his face. He still wanted to finish that fight with Kinsei, and this was just one thing to help him along the way. The annoying part of the job was just waiting for it to start. |
Raviel nodded, understanding what Renor meant. "With everybody fighting, people are bound to die. That forces the rest of us to grow stronger in their absence. And we will keep fighting and dying until only the strongest-the people able to protect our lands-is left."
"Still...that's a little bit sad, don't you think?" |
"Death is part of life. The weak must die so the strong may life, its a law of nature. Best to just accept it and press on." He begins to walk towards the battle field. "Pay respect to those that have fallen, by continuing to live."

Checkers sat in the center of the roof with his eyes closed. He had one eye floating just over the edge of each side not being watched by Sev. He kept the eyes close the building. They wern't very big, but they also wern't invisible. The parents of the child hadn't seemed very concerned when they brought him back unconciouse. They had repaid his debt and explain their son did similar things quite often. When the question of discipline arose they laughed it off. Checkers just left and didn't give it another thought. At least he had parents, he couldn't turn out all bad.
"Sev, I still don't see anything out of the ordinary. You sure it was supposed to be today?" ((OOC:I wasn't sure what to put up...so this is the result.)) |
