#605: "Dear god, why!"

Oh, space-time. Is there no one you won't warp?

iddqd 09-28-2005 11:09 PM

I can safely say: I DON'T GET IT!
Ok, what the :D:mad::stressed::gonk: is going on in this comic? Why isn't fighter teleporting with them?

Kurosen 09-28-2005 11:12 PM

Same reason Red Mage didn't last time.

Same reason anything happens.

It's funnier that way.

RickZarber 09-28-2005 11:16 PM

Today's comic looks beautiful.

I am sorta freaked out by the fact that I had just put in a Blind Guardian CD right before I read Brian's newspost, though... It's one of those little conincidences that makes me worry about the world...

Kei_Shugojin 09-28-2005 11:35 PM

Sheer, absolute, genius...
I love it when fighter's antics cause him to inadvertantly harm the other members of the LW... repeatedly. =D

mauve 09-28-2005 11:52 PM

I love the effects Brian used when Fighter attacks the pole with a Tornado of Poking Fury. Damn, I wish I had photoshop... Paint just isn't the same. *sigh*

The Fifth Power 09-29-2005 12:14 AM

"Anything that happens, happens to hurt Black Mage"

Gotta love BLACK MAGE asking the gods why he suffers...

They're afraid hes going to take over!

Nucleus 09-29-2005 12:49 AM

Regarding the news post, I am curious as to why Brian relates Blind Guardian (I have not listened to the others mentioned) to the Warhammer 40,000 universe. It evokes images of Arda (of Tolkien) and the Young Kingdoms (of Moorcock), but I have never drawn a connection to Warhammer 40,000 before. Though Hansi Kursch would perhaps make a terrific Eldar voice actor for Dawn of War.

Trixbeat 09-29-2005 05:21 AM

Rapid chain teleportation lol. I haven't seen Fighter harm his fellow allies so much for... um... probably ever.
*Takes out FF and mass use teleporters*

Kroze Gamegod 09-29-2005 09:36 AM

Won't the mass teleportation cause like massive brain damage?
Poor poor LW's...
Why is Space-Time always out to get them?

Levi Kornelsen 09-29-2005 10:02 AM

It took me a second to 'get it'.

...And it was funnier because of that.

Nice. As usual.

PyrosNine 09-29-2005 12:31 PM

They've messed with space time so much in their journeys, naturally it's going to mess back.

Hope this doesn't end with an unnatural BM/RM/Thief hybrid that begs for fighter to kill it.

So this is kinda RM"s segment of the plot, and it'll probably feature character development for our favorite twink. It's kinda shown to be that because so far RM's been the mental powerhouse, mindwarping the other warriors, taking the quest into the Temple of Ordeals, and is most likely the only sane person who would scour the earth for a rat's tail. I expect alot more Red magery action!

Red Dragon 50 09-29-2005 12:34 PM

This topic seeme's to be going no where fast... need's more pokein.

Rocketlex 09-29-2005 01:13 PM

Since when is Red Mage sane?

Nuvapci 09-29-2005 01:54 PM

RM? The mental powerhouse? Obsession with side-quests is not a sign of intelligence...

I suspect RM will appear Tuesday (or so), climbing the outside of the castle, which in itself is not such a bad idea. Still, he'll probably have to single handedly defeat the main boss(es) (Ice Dragon right? It's been a while...). He took out the fire dragon, don't forget.

On a side note, I'm starting to think that there is a hidden force behind Fighter's incredible stupidity. Most definitely, he is just doing these things because he doesn't know better. There are, however, two different types of stupidity: Harmless and harmful. Most of the stupid we know is a mix of both, but Fighter (recently at least) seems to be nothing but harmful stupid (both to friends and foes). There has to be a reason for that. DId something change and we didn't notice?

Skyshot 09-29-2005 03:12 PM

Zombie Dragons, I think in a quartet, comprise the boss fight of the Castle of Ordeals.

Also, Thief is in that mess, so I'm happy. Thief is like too many people I've known, only cunning.

He's always been like that. It's just that you're paying attention to this.

Besides, Dr. Swordopolis reappeared. Haven't you noticed the trail of destruction and pain that ALWAYS follows a Dr. Swordopolis appearance?

On other news...

Evil Newton is lying underneath a tree. Then an apple falls on him. "Ow!" he states, and then picks up the apple from the ground. "This apple makes me want to KILL MANKIND!" he says, his eyes growing red and evil as he states the last words.

That's what happened to Fighter.

Okay, not really. I just took that from somewhere else. Still, it should be worth a laugh... um... the apple did it. Only it's a SWORDAPPLE! The sword-shaped appleman!

...

This post has tried so hard to be funny, I can't avoid stating prematurely that it was overdone. I apologize to any and all moderators and administrators for it already. Sorry.

Hybrid 09-29-2005 04:28 PM

I need to read the rules

DFM 09-29-2005 05:10 PM

Stupid, stupid Fighter and his adorable evil.

And the post wasn’t that overdone. Well, it was overdone, but it was still kinda funny.

Desmant 09-29-2005 05:37 PM

Good old Bonus Stage. I swear that Fighter gots some mad pokin skillz yo.

Bizzaro_Exdeath 09-29-2005 06:02 PM

Hehe, uphill both ways. Simultaneously.

mauve 09-29-2005 06:14 PM

This just goes to prove that space-time is the enemy. That, and space-time-bending poles. Those are enemies too.

MetalPsycho 09-29-2005 06:17 PM

This just proves that the LW's entire existance is made to be in a constant state of pain and torment. There's nothing that hasn't been done to them yet. They've had giant invincible dressers smashed on their heads, gone to hell, had their brains eaten, been blown up, turned to stone and thrown into a river of MD, coughed up lung taffie mucus, and the gods only know what else. Honestly, I'm worried Brian will run out of ideas at this rate.

They've not been given aids yet, so "so far so good."

Nor have they been attacked by godzilla, abducted by aliens, met an earlier version of themselves, been dragged along the ground a 151 miles per hour, been crucified, had to fight off a Zerg swarm then survive a dinner date with the Queen of Blades, commandered an army against the orcs in order to protect two furry footed idiots who have to throw a ring into a mountaind of doom, ran over with a steam roller, shrunken to a singularity, fallen in love and then betrayed, turned into monkeys, attacked my giant mutant turkeys, posssessed, mummified, had moths implant their young into their flesh, fought three of Bahamut's kin with only their bare hands, or molested by Michael Jackson.

I'd say Brian's still got plenty of stuff to bat at his Lightwarriors with.

Bizzaro_Exdeath 09-29-2005 10:18 PM

When did they have their brains eaten?

MetalPsycho 09-29-2005 11:34 PM

....Maybe I should have rephraised that sentence. <.<; Points taken.

ANd I was refering to the Orc Zombie incident. Though that was actually just BM, but we don't need everything happening to each of them. Spread it out a bit, yah?

ElfLad 09-29-2005 11:37 PM

Don't forget the frog transformation.

P.S.: The "Fact: Rapid chain teleportation..." sounds VERY Douglas Adams-esque.

DarthMauler64 09-29-2005 11:54 PM

Wait...didn't they meet very short past versions of themselves when they were captured by those Sorcerors with the girls names?

I wonder how much more BM will be angry with Fighter...

So his plan is to get eaten by the Ice dragon, so that he may then use fire spells on their digestive tract?

It'll keep on growing untill BM killls him. Snd since fighter will never die (at least not in a perminant sense) Thats alot of hate!

Kima Azure 09-30-2005 01:45 PM

That's a nice diagram.

Kurosen 09-30-2005 01:54 PM

(Psst, Hybrid's post had nothing to do with yours. It was super sneaky edited by a mod to remove the content that broke the rule his post now links to)

Kima Azure 09-30-2005 06:03 PM

(Ah... an apology then.)

Let's all wait for the utmost doom that shall come from the pain!

Yes, I always loved how the guide (or simply the narrator) stated everything so "matter-of-fact"ly
  • The ships hung in the sky in much the same way that bricks don't
  • For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much - the wheel, New York, wars and so on - whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man - for precisely the same reasons.

Oh if it only were that simple. There's a small problem with that plan. One that even Red Mage should be able to catch. All he has is an Ice spell. Don't think that'll bother Ice Dragons too much.

PyrosNine 09-30-2005 10:17 PM

I know that, but in the technical sense they saw possible futures and pasts and presents because despite seeing and hearing their pasts and futures, all was made straight and clear once they left. It's more like they were in a void, and now they aint. So it is almost as if it never happened, so therefore that infinite number never existed. I'd go into depth, but Pyros can't think good right now and requires sleep.

So long and thanks for all the fish.

He'll class change to black mage, and then use fire-1
