Counter Strike: Source
Hello once again all,
I'm strongly considering buying Counter Strike: Source now that it's out for retail. But I have a few questions... First: Do you need Condition Zero to play Source? Second: Is there anyone on CS:S from these forums? I'd like to avoid the snobs who yell "OMGSTFUNOOB!!11" and actually learn how to be /good/ and coordinate with team-mates and stuff. Hell, we could even make a clan. That's all. |
DO NOT BUY COUNTER STRIKE: SOURCE! Buy Half-Life 2 instead. You get Half-Life 2, HL2:Deathmatch AND Counter Strike: Source for cheaper than what you will pay for for CS:S on it's own/
Secondly, No. You do not need Condition Zero to play CS:S. CZ was a stand-alone game about CS using the old Half-Life1 engine. Finally, I don't have a clue how to play well on CS:S. I'm not a huge fan of the game, I find it slow and I hate the waiting-out times. If you buy CS:S on it's own, it'll be a big waste if you don't like it. Buy Half-Life2, it comes with CS:S, Deathmatch and allows you to play the mods made for Half-Life2 as well. It's only about £25 retail or get it from Steam itself. Eep, Steam have changed their offers. It's 60$ for the silver package, but it gets you Half-Life2, Half-Life2:DM, Counter Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source, Half-Life1: Source AND the whole back catalouge of Half-Life1 including Blue-Shift and Opposing Force. I suggest you get that package, it has everything you could want, without the usless merchandise. http://www.steampowered.com/?area=product_packageoffers |
Let me add onto that by saying get Half Life 2: Silver. Silver comes with HL2, CS:S, Day of Defeat:Source, Half Life 2: Lost Coast (The 'sequel'), and several others. Gold edition is all of that with the coffee mug, mousepad, and gravity gun.*
*this is a lie |
I play CS:Source.
Please let me know where you play. I grow weary of the number of players who feel that they have to constantly discuss the amounts of liquor, weed, and sex they are currently/shall be having. Oh, and the lack of typing skills, by choice or not. I'm sorry, that gets a tad overwhelming at times. |
My post would be exactly the same as synkr0nized's. In which case, I say, 'ditto.'

Don't play it all that much, but I do have it. Wouldn't buy it without HL2, but it's an added bonus for sure. Maybe we could coordinate a game sometime.

Ok then, poke me on MSN/AIM/XFire(livingcorp) and I'll see what I can do for hosting, I don't like taking down my firewall to host. I think that with Americans playing with people from England, I'll have to stick to a 12 player server. Would anyone object to us playing against a website that I visit called "Blame the Pixel"? BTP is a Worms community forum that also has a lot of CS:S players. I think that it would be better if we wern't playing against anyone that just walked in from the street. I'll ask them if they want a nice, friendly match of pure awesome. PS: It'll be on a Saturday. PSS: I have managed to obtain a dedicated server for us to play on play on for the day. So that's all fine. |
