Dogs used as shark bait
It's been too long since I last posted a news story, so let's start fresh with...the French.

:O_o:
As if I didn't have ENOUGH reason to hate the french. I'm sorry, but that picture simply makes me think of my dog, and that makes me VERY angry. How could they do that to a dog? |
Mind you, the Sun barely deserves to be given the name "newspaper" - they'll do anything to sell. Think "National Enquirer."
Also, the fact that the island is French governed doesn't mean the French are the heads of an evil international shark-baiting organization. In fact, this article explicitly states that it's a violation of French law. If you're posting stuff like this, at least keep it on an appropriate level for Discussion. Don't barge in screaming "holy shit it's THE FRENCH!" if all you have are reports about something that, looked at calmly, is nothing but another crime. |

Seriously though, I should've made it more clear that it was on a French island and the paper was a tabloid. A tabloid, I'm sad to say, my grandma is subscribed to. |
All right, I didn't realize that it was just a tabloid.
What I wonder is, why are they trying to bait sharks? I really doubt that it's for research purposes, since they most likely could get grants to buy actual bait with. |

For one thing, tabloid. For another thing, even if it were this story, in some cultures, dogs are as "important" as mice. That's animal bias, there. Now, I'm fairly certain the French aren't like that--but even if they were, I don't see the problem: it's just a big fluffy version of an organism. |

I meant fluffy organism to point out that it's mostly an aesthetic attachment we have to the way dogs "look." Not concern for the life, but concerned that something they find cute will be gone.
Of course, many people are not like that. I just, personally, would not want to put that much meaning on any animal. |
I'll do a good old Dennis Leary quote here.
