Damn Zombies

Is it just me or are Zombies only scary in concept "WALKING FLESH EATING DEAD PEOPLE OOOOO!" A zombie is essentially a walking corpse thats gonna eventually decay, plus its supposed to bit you and you trn into a zombie, in most living people the first thing to just fall out is the teeth, how can they bite anone after a day of Zombiedom? also old zombies are less scary when you think about it, they can't run, you could skip and be out of reach of an old zombie, You know that if you saw one coming down the street, you'd
treat it like a stray cat *stamps foot* "Go! Shoo! GIT!"
any body else dislike them?

They're dead, and yet moving of their own accord. Folks see this as a violation of nature's laws, and are thus terrified. Same goes for Skeletons.

_mike 10-12-2005 05:34 PM

Well, if monsters roamed the earth, I guess zombies would be one of those things you get used to. Skeletons on the other hand...

But yeah, I dislike zombies because I don't like things that bite me. They're scary as hell to me.

Oddly enough, the redeads from Zelda: OoT scare the hell out of me. At first glance, they seem like the average every day zombie but then WHAM! They scream and paralyse you, and then they rape you.

Stereotypical zombies aren't that frightening at all, even when massed together (unless, you know, you're trapped). However, give them abnormal or even normal strengths...then they start becoming trouble. It really depends on what kind of zombie you're facing.

InvaderKrag 10-12-2005 06:57 PM

Like.....Nemesis? Yeah. That's what I think of. Definitely what I think of.

And it's not just you, those redead scare the bejeezus out of me too.

Loyal 10-12-2005 07:06 PM

Heh, yeah. The first time a Re-Dead screamed and latched onto me, I literally jumped out of my chair.

I would LOVE zombies if they danced to "Thriller" in a crowd.

The only zombies that should scare are the fresh corpses. Ones that have been decaying over a century no problemo. I mean, look how well could they blend in with the crowd? A bunch of people trap themselves inside a mall for safety, and next thing you know the old guy next to you is already eating up your best friends.

I'll throw my Redead-are-scarier-than-a-thousand-Ganons vote in too.

As to why I'm scared of zombies, it's because the viral kind are unstoppable. Even if the militaries of the world united and destroyed every zombie on the planet (not likely), then the virus would still exist. So every-so-often you'd hear about an outbreak in Newfoundland or Guatemala, and you'd remember that you can't even take death for granted anymore. For the rest of human history, you'd have cannibals spontaniously popping up in random places, making more zombies, then getting wiped out. The first outbreak would be worst, but the rest of history is a long time.

But then, the same could be said of nuclear weapons, yeah? It'd take the downfall of almost all society for the knowledge of nuclear weapons to go away, and it'd be rediscovered again eventually.

And yes, I do hold viral zombies on the same level of horror as nukes.

EDIT: Magical zombies, not so much. Take out the necromancer or whatever's keeping them up and they're all gone. Done and done.

Truce 10-12-2005 07:42 PM

The virus can be stopped. Just create an anti-virus.

Necromancers are much harder to beat on a one on one scenario. You actually have to find the necromancer, fight through all the zombies, and face all the other kinds of magic that the necromancer should possess. Plus, the average necromancy zombies tend to be more powerful than the average viral zombie.

Oh, I jumped out of my seat not just the first time one of the Redeads started humping me, but the first time I heard them scream too. And then the next few times they latched onto me. And they still give me the heeby jeebies.... God, I hate those things.

I agree, just a slight difference so you can tell until they're chewing on someone....*shudder*

The ones where you can tell from a distance, still kinda freaky, but less of the "shit your pants" variety, as far as I'm concerned.
