Anyway, I am going to assume this is good since it is on adult swim, and I enjoy the majority of their shows.

However, is it going to be a 15-minute thing, or 30? I would think 15 since it comes from a comic.

Actually, in an interview they did I believe they stated that they use the same technology utilized by the Final Fantasy: Spirits Within guys, they have to try and make it look like crap.

IHMN: I actually think its a full 30 minutes, in the weekend they were supposed to start it they had a 30 minute block whiled away that had to be filled up by Family Guy re-runs.

I'm a fan of the comic for the same reason I'm a fan of Chappele's Show and its ilk: it makes fun of something it knows. To get a pretty good handle on how 'bad' the stips can get towards black sterotypes, try to find the series of strips on Russel Simmon's Apprentice ripoff (fake of course). The first challenge, if I recall, was to come into the office at nine in the morning, a feat which apparently eliminated half of the competitors. If they can include that sort of thing into the cartoon, I will be thoroughly satisfied.

well, actually i shouldnt say that flash cartoon is bad. what i thought was being mentioned was that flash cartoons are of a bad quality or just horrible, so i kinda used the wording in that context. what i meant was that most AS-created shows tend to be poorly done with horrible animation. just look at 12 oz. mouse. that show looks horrible, atleast by what ive seen in commercials.

Well, from the look of how the show was animated, it did look like it was from Japan. Heck, if I never read or heard about the comic strip before I would have thought the it was from Japan too. The comic's also in the Sacramento Bee. It's pretty funny, I really liked the strips the strips before Chrismas when the kids were talking about a rumour that Santa was shot down over the Sea of Japan.

"Boondocks" runs in the Philly Inquirer. I've known about it for years. Hopefully the cartoon will be good as well.

Because it's amateurish and slows a lack of effort on their part in terms of quality. There's nothing wrong with having a show or two that emphasize a low-budget stylistic difference, so long as they make good use of it, but when fully 2/3rds of your non-anime lineup can be done by any random shmoe with a copy of Flash MX, it becomes a problem. 12 Ounce Mouse, for example, looks like it was done by a 6 year old, which does NOT speak well of the kind of humor one might expect from the show.

12oz. mouse is not flash, if anything its MSpaint.

Now you have to know when a show is poorly animated, or when they want it to look like that. South Park uses advanced technology but they want the appearance of a poorly animated show.

Besides the Sunday line up isn't about high quality intriguing shows. Its about pure comedy. When you see a man shooting taco's out of his torso that blow up the janitor, your not laughing because it was clever witty and well drawn. Your laughing at it because he JUST SHOT TACO'S OUT OF HIS CHEAST! If anything most of those shows would be less funny if drawn well.

Now back to Boondocks, Chepell show had something that made it ok. You knew it was a black guy making black jokes. I agree it's racist to think that if he was white it would suddenly be offensive, but we all know how the censors can be. Since it's animated you don't know who is writing this so some people might think it's offensive.

I just hope some beurocratic moron doesn't kill what could be an excellent show.

Assuming the guy writing the comic strip continues writing the cartoon, a black guy will be writing the jokes.

But, Chappelle's Show had white writers, as seen in the "Who Knows Black People?" sketch. I believe that Chris Rock's show also had white writers. If people are going to exhibit umbrage at this show they're coming to the party a tad late.
