ISIS: (sign-up)
I.S.I.S. International Supernatural Incident Squad. The name is known only in the highest levels of every government, and even then is hushed. It’s a commonly accepted theory that there is something bigger out there. A greater force that is not on our plane of existence. These forces tend to manifest occasionally, resulting in supernatural incidents. A government will call in I.S.I.S. to deal with it, though with great reluctance. This is because I.S.I.S. is not discreet. They are a relatively unpredictable group that gets the job done, collateral damage be damned.
While they are technically a “secret organization,” it is possible to find them in the yellow pages, under “security companies.” They’re based in London, on the grounds that Heathrow provides them quick access to most of the world. Composition wise, they’re a unique mix of military and academic. Every member of I.S.I.S. has received basic firearms training, and every member has had a crash course in basic mythology. The majority can be separated into the sections of “academics” or “assaulters” with the respective roles being occult solutions versus a shit load of ammo. No government will ever confirm this, but ISIS has seen action on every continent save the Artic. Their track record ranges talking and calming down a suicidal werewolf on the Eiffel Tower to making one hell of a mess by shooting apart a tentacle monster in Tokyo. They are on constant watch, ready to answer the “call” and set about protecting this plane of existence. *** Behold the backstory. Love the backstory. Cherish the backstory. This RP was inspired by F.E.A.R. and Hellboy. I believe the backstory does a very good job of explaining what we’re doing. Any questions can be directed to me. And yes, I will allow a maximum of two minor witches/warlocks. Name: (duh) Nickname: (also a duh) Role on team: (generic assaulter, shotgun man, occultist so on so forth) Belief Value: (insert points here) Firearms Value: (insert points here) Physical Value: (insert points here) Skills Value: (insert points here) Knowledge: (insert points here) Weaponry: Appearance: Any particular training: (Any military, law enforcement, sports, etc background) Equipment: Religion: (if any) Qualifications: (why did ISIS snatch you of all people? Why were you chosen?) Reason for joining ISIS: (Why did you accept the job?) Bio: Laws of physics are optional for how we fight, so yes, dual wielding is allowed. Now, on the subject of Belief, Firearms, Physical, and Skills, these are the building blocks of your character, and are really much more guidelines for how you have to behave. The max for each skill is 5. You have 15 points. Belief is basically defense against paranormal stuff. The higher belief you have, the easier it is for you to not believe in something. If you don’t believe in something, it can’t hurt you. This is trickier than it sounds however, as after you see someone get torn in two by a monster, it’s hard not to believe in it. This also doesn’t affect physical opponents with guns and such. Firearms is basically your skill with firearms. Having a zero means you know how to hold the gun, pull the trigger, and reload. Having a five means you don’t even register shooting, and you hit almost every time. Around three allows dual-wielding of single hand weapons. Physical is almost everything physical. Reaction time, sprinting, bench pressing weight, everything physical falls into this category. Zero means you’re the average joe. Five means you’re approaching Olympian. Skills includes a broad range of skills. Preferably in your bio you’ll present what your character is good at, and keep you from pulling stuff out of your butt. This would include skill with computers, repairs, car driving. Basically, if it’s a skill, it falls into here. Knowledge is pretty self explanatory. This is big for the brain guys, because knowledge implies the range that you know. If you have a five, you know a lot about a lot of things. If you have zero, it can be assumed you never really tried to learn anything after high school. Also, Religion doesn’t really matter much, but it has a definite effect during some kind of creatures we fight. Sometimes, your religion says that something exists, which makes it especially dangerous to you. I’m hoping for a goodly amount of people. I’m also hoping people who sign up will actually take part, and not just let this die an early death. |
I've got one (or two) question(s): Is everyone in ISIS human, or are there otherwordly creatures as well? And, if there ARE otherwordly creatures, would they have any effect on the stat system?
|
Could I ask how minor is a minor warlock/witch? Is it in the "can tell who's calling on the telephone" range, or the "a few anti-personnel spells, but no anti-tank spells" range?
EDIT: Oh, and do you want this to be deadly serious, or more like life, with little ironies and such? |
Krylo: Everyone on ISIS is fundamentally human. However, if you go up someone's genetic tree, you may find some otherworldly force that gives the character some minor psychic power like feeling an emotion by touching an object. And I'm assuming this would merely be worked into the stat system itself.
phil: This isn't meant to be deadly serious. I would fully love to have some light hearted moments. Also: Warlocks land in the two. They can feel things, and can know things they shouldn't, and they can also cast spells to take a specific target down. However, they actually have to say the spell commands. So, if they're gagged they can't cast spells. They'll also drain "area magic" quickly. They don't weaken themselves, they use up the magic in the area, and this takes a while to diffuse back to normal levels. I'll count the few witches and warlocks as minor exceptions to the stat system. However, I want preciously few people doing that. |
I don't think I have the lingual skills to ask whether I can do what I want to do without saying it outright or sounding like an idiot, so I'm just going to post the character idea.
I want to make a warlock who fights with bubbles--bubbles that are as hard and massive as steel, but still float and look pretty. I'd list out his spells (I have four in mind) and I'd list his limits (about fifty bubbles), all of which would be up to your final word, Darth SS. If this is too far from what you intended for this RP, I can always think up some other skill for my character, and it does kinda seem like that'll be the case. |
It's a bit more than I would like, so about thirty bubbles would be better.
But I'd allow that, because, 1) It can be easily overruled (like by saying something has a thick carapace) 2) It sounds cool, stylistically 3) The fact that you put that much thought in means you probably won't god-mod. |
I didn't know what we had for technology, so I didn't put in a battle armor or anything. I wasn't sure what you were looking for exactly on certain things, so just show me where I'm wrong and I'll get to correcting it.
Name: Laura McCormick Nickname: Gaefe (GAEFE: Gunfire And Explosions Fix Everything) Role on Team: Heavy Assault / Suppressive Support Belief Value: 1 Firearms Value: 5 Physical Value: 4 Skills Value: 4 Knowledge: 1 Weaponry: M-60, 7.62 mm GPMG (General Purpose Machine Gun), Cal .38 Special Revolver, 4 Fragmentation Grenades, 1 Combat Knife (standard deployment loadout) Any Particular Training: USMC (Three year employment where she was headhunted by ISIS) Equipment: Gas Mask, First Aid Kit, Canteen, Ammunition Packs, GPS Religion: Christian (considering how little she does anything religious, most people just figure she's an atheist) Qualifications: Laura was chosen for potential shown in military deployments. Out of all the people handpicked to be given the opportunity to join ISIS, Laura was the only one who agreed to change branches of government service. Reason for Joining ISIS: Earn a larger paycheck and work with some more powerful guns and fighting weird creatures without worrying about collateral damage. Bio: This tough blonde had a rather exciting and dangerous life and has developed an unhealthy fixation for big guns, huge explosions, and good alcohol. A girl with the personality of a barbarian who wants to cause as much destruction in her life as possible, Laura always approaches difficulties with gusto and, usually, lots of firepower and intimidation. Laura's life seems to be like a blazing inferno fed by a limited supply of fuel, lasting only for so long while consuming so much so quickly, and considering Laura's aggressive behavior, hers is a life that might not last as long as she'd like. In spite of her attitude, Laura is kind towards her fellow ISIS members, respectful of her superiors, and is careful to follow her orders specifically, though violently. She's often described as a double-edged sword in ISIS, but her efforts have saved lives and got people through some rough situations, so they'll turn a blind eye towards her less favorable results. |
It's good, with my only complaint being that I almost think your weapon loadout is a bit much.
EDIT: Technology wise, we'd be the equivalent of Delta Force, or the SAS. Also, I might add a few things I forgot to the sign-up sheet. |
AB beat me to the punch, so I'm re-doing my character.
|
If anyone asks, I just died. Painfully. (Doubt I'll have time for this as it turns out. Half an hour's a long time...)
