Non-Fighting based RP Interest Thread
 

Since almost every RP I can think of has focused on fighting or violence, I've wanted an RP that isn't based on fighting.

Problem with that is, an RP without fighting sounds very boring. The only semi-entertaining idea I can think of is comedy, but once everyone runs out of stupid jokes, the RP would end.

So, I need ideas. Anyone have any ideas?

What about a mystery? That's about all I can think of.

Or a board game esque thing.

Or a rp set in a school setting with Tenci Muyo ish stuff.

Or a Reality show rp with a bunch of character from different RP's banded together on a deserted island.

Extreme sports RP

Basically an RP about competition of some form without actual violence.

Hm... All I can think of is something like a "sims" kinda thing. Life as life if you will...

Mystery would require lots of detail, and the possibility of having to do the RPings through PMs, since it would be easier for a killer to find out where X character is by reading X player's post.

A fantastic school comedy. I just don't think a comedy would last long.

Reality show with old RP characters. Possible, though a lot of those characters would be from violent oriented RPs, so I would thinking some fighting would be inevitable.

Extreme sports... No.

Competition. Vague, but worth thinking about.

A more entertaining version of real life. Though, for a Sims RP, would you want to actually bother with money, or just the entertaining parts of the game (Which all end up being comedy)?

I wanna say Harvest Moon, but then I look back and realize I still have yet to finish year 2 of my own video game.

The reality show with old RP characters sounds interesting...and while fighting would seem to be inevitable, wouldn't that make it likely for the character to get banished from the show?

As for comedies...if we wanted one of those, we could just go into any discussion thread.

IHateMakingNames, an anti- or minimal-fighting/violence RP sounds fun. I love roleplaying, but I have such limited time. I don't want to play games about fighting, killing, gunning people down, and blowing stuff up. It's weird for me. (What's the point of pretending to run around with a machine gun when I already have one?) :o

What about an RP about exploration?
Or one with a historical setting? Or is that too much conquest for you?
Mysteries are a little tricky to set up, but they're worth it.
There's always those stories like, you're an average kid hiding a werewolf/alien/man-eating plant/whatever in your house.
School-based stories are good if you want a long game.
My friends and I like espionage games. Lots of politics and knavery, but almost no fighting.

Okay, I'm reacquainting myself with the forums. Why can't you do Harvest Moon? Did no one sign up?

To be entertaining, exploring would probably have to be Indiana Jones exploring, minus the fighting.

We already know what happens, so history would be boring.

A bunch of kids hiding a monster. The monster would have to be wild, otherwise it would be an RP about normal kids who bring food to a monster every day. I'm throwing this in with mystery, because I feel like it.

Why would anyone want to be in an RP about a normal school?

Anything involving politics would probably turn out bad for various reasons.

And I can't do Harvest Moon because I tried that two weeks ago and no one was interested. So I doubt anyone would join. But, I will keep trying.


In conclusion, so far I have these ideas.

Some sort of mystery. Wouldn't be one about murder, unless the murderer is not a PC and the PCs are just solving a mystery and end up catching the guy in the end (Probably with police and the murderer giving up, as to avoid violence). Any other non-violent crimes would work. Possibly involving monsters (Non-violent ones).

Reality show with old RP characters. Throw a bunch of PCs into a house, and every week there is a challenge to throw one of them out. Also, if anyone fights, they are instantly thrown out.

Competition. So, some sort of sport, minus racing and violent sports. Possibly an EXTREME!!! version of a sport.

Dungeon-crawling without monsters.

Actually I was intrested in the Harvest Moon RP I was just waiting for a bit more information. If that doesn't work out, I'm all for a mystery RP.
