Come on...

Wow, thanks for completely twisting my words and jumping to conclusions...

First things first - he is immortal, but he can be defeated/killed. It's just that he doesn't stay that way for long. He usually survives by reincarnating into another body at the last moment, but though the process can be intercepted (hence his imprisonment into a kid's body). Secondly - the sword is secondary to his magic.

In any case, I'm probably going to change him out for some other guy... Rand Al'Thor, maybe...

Raiden 01-08-2004 10:41 PM

I don't see any. And if he wants to be able to turn invisible for a limited amount of time, I say more power to him.

Forever Zero 01-08-2004 10:42 PM

It didn't sound like he was twisting that much. You seemed to insinuate every time he said you could be defeated that you couldn't be...

Dante 01-08-2004 10:47 PM

Hmm... Well, I did say that every time the enemy thinks they've killed him, they're the ones who're goign to end up killed instead. More of a reflection on last-minute escapes rather than immortality.

He does get defeated twice in the manga, though. WHat I wanted to say was that he specializes in last-minute reversals.

IHateMakingNames 01-08-2004 10:48 PM

Ok, you see, if the guy comes back and kills the other guy soon after you assumed he lost, he did not lose, he won...

CO Cheddar 01-08-2004 10:53 PM

Hmm... should I make my guy stronger, then? I don't know if a Mage, albiet a strong one, could beat a guy who can escape death like DS.

Dante 01-08-2004 10:54 PM

Yeah, but then again, the people he killed in the series were stupid. I guess what I'm trying to say is that one-hit-kill methods may not be as effective on him as you might imagine. Curse my inability to articulate with only 3 hours of sleep.

Edit: CO, for the purposes of this thread, if DS is beaten, he is beaten. The reincarnation is basically to convert death into a long recovery period (2 years +)

IHateMakingNames 01-08-2004 10:55 PM

No, the solution is not to make everyone else stronger... It should be to make everyone else weaker, but I don't see that happening, so when it's your turn, your probably going to have to pump yourself up a bit...

Raiden 01-08-2004 10:56 PM

Look, we already went over this. He may be able to switch out, but that doesn't matter. In this tournament, if something happens where the attack WOULD have killed him, if he hadn't switched out, then he loses.

CO Cheddar 01-08-2004 10:57 PM

Alright. Sorry about my lack of knowledge on DS, but I've never read the BASTARD!! Manga. Anyway, I guess I'll just use ingenuity in an non-cheesing way and hope for the best.
