Dragon Quest VIII

So Dragon Quest VIII came out today. Did any of you buy it? It goes back to having the traditional rpg gameplay, like in the early RPGs. Akira Toriyama does a great job on the character designs. This is basically the perfected form of a traditonal RPG.
Going with that, Square Enix has started a fansite for Dragon Quest VIII. On it, you can earn lots of prizes including PS2 games(FFX, FFX-2, Kingdom Hearts, Musashi:Samurai Legends, and Star Ocean), movies(LOTR, Star Wars, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Princess Bride, and The Pirates of the Carrabean), and mp3 players and a 20GB IPOD. There is also a post from the head of staff saying that they will have a PS3 eventually. And since DQVIII has just come out, they have been giving away prizes!
This fansite has a great fanbase and is completly free, so you should really check it out!

Can you say "SCAM" boys and girls?

Hiro57 11-15-2005 11:39 PM

Nope, not a scan. Check out the privacy rules. This site comes directly from Square Enix.

The site as far as I know is legit- I think I got an email from Square about it a few months ago.

However, I fear this thread doesn't have much longer, being a blatant ad and all.

Yeah, the mods tend to frown on threads creating for the simple purpose of talking about contests, petitions, advertisements, etc.

Ah, yes...Dragon Warrior VIII...it comes with a free FFXII demo.

Or, then again, given the fact that most Americans don't know too much about Dragon Warrior, would that be a demo of FFXII that comes with a free copy of Dragon Warrior VIII?

I'll have to look into this game after the holidays...after I have money...and a DS.

I'm suprised most Americans don't know much about it. I played Dragon Warrior far earlier than I played any of the Final Fantasies. Hmm maybe it was just me...

No, I've heard of DW. But promotions with new account is frowned upon here. That's why I don't know if you're sticking around for just that promo or leaving for different forums. That's why I'm not checking it out until later when your post counts higher.

Your loss :sweatdrop . I'm just trying to spread the news about DQ VIII. And yes I will probably stay around here for a while. I just don't have time to post right now. I have my job and school. But I will say I have been reading 8-bit theater way before it was moved here to Nuklear Power. That probably doesn't satisfy you, but once again, I'm just tryin to spread the word.

I got the demo in the mail, and I played it. DW was technically the first RPG I ever saw, unless you count Zelda. I didn't get the Slime key chain though. (Sadness!)

It's one of those sucky "Refer a friend" kinda of promotions where you do stuff to gain further points to trade in for stuff. You can do other things than simply refer friends, but from what I can see some people are milking it using certain techniques, as well as writing reviews.

But why do I have to be a "She-Slime" before I can purchase anything cool? What? Are slimes of the female gender higher than the others and therefore have the more advanced knowledge of shopping? And how can there be a she slime? My head splodes! Well, I suppose this thread could be salvageable if we talked about the game.

I like how after alot of tension the main character goes super saiyan. Even though It isn't dragonball Z. And the fact that I can do the time old RPG tradition of robbing innocent villagers houses of all their money, items, and rarities. You can't do that much nowadays!
