Blue Gender: Your Opinion?

Anyone here ever hear of this little slice of anime called Blue Gender? I borrowed a DVD of this from my library in order to fill my anime fix (Fushigi Yugi, Sailormoon SuperS and their lone Ranma 1/2 DVD weren't readily available, and all the rest of the anime they have has some kind of trading card game associated with it--not my thing, sorry). Has anyone else heard of this? Is it, in fact, insanely popular and I've just been too far under my rock to notice? Or is it unpopular, for whatever reasons might prompt its unpopularity? Any feedback or info avout this series would be welcome, as I couldn't find the first episode DVD and I have to jump in here around episode ten.

Thankew in advance

It came on Adult Swim some time ago, not sure when, but I had the honor to watch it all.

As for the first 10 or so episodes, SPOILER The main character (whose name escapes me) wakes up from chriogenic sleep and finds out that his world has ended, literally. He is found by a soldier named Marlene, and pushed out the door to try and get him back to space.

The first 10 episodes involve the main character's struggle with what has happend to Earth, and his and Marlene's journey to the redevous point. As the people in Marlene's unit die around them, the main character steps up and asks to be taught to fight.

We see a change come over the scared boy that Marlene found and even Marlene herself, him into a cold killing machine, and her not being so cold and distant.

Of course, it really sucks to be them as Murphy's Law seems to apply doubly to evil alien bugs, everywhere they go, things turn to shit and even when they get on the shuttle to "safety" things don't go as planned.

It wasn't too great in my opinion. At least, not the end where all I remember from it is hero kills one thing that doesn't have a "core" thingie or something (not really a brain, just a thing where it gets hit it dies), then the girl reveals she's pregnant, and it's all Adam and Eve down on Earth while a lot of people go crazy and kill each other up in space...if any of that made sense coming from my sugar deprived mind.

Something to watch when you're bored, but there are a better things in its genre that you can watch. Also, I don't recall it being too popular when it was shown on CN.

I thought it sucked but the Zero-G blood was pretty awesome.

While the series as a whole felt little weak overall, some of the scenes in the earlier episodes could scar screw you for a while. The scene where he remembers a cute girl in a pod near his before they were frozen, and then he looks for her only to see a rolled up ball of human corpses with her twisted face sticking out of it was really screwed up. I think the adult swim blurb guys even did a list of episodes that would mess you up, though it has been a while and I might be remembering things incorrectly.

I can't say I really enjoyed the series. It really felt like I was just watching it out of habit after a few episodes. That and Witch Hunter Robin was on before it.

But yeah, any show in which the only way to kill the monster bugs is to shoot the vagina in their forehead doesn't hold much promise.

Meh.

Not the worst, but far from being the best. Invest your monies in other more worthy animes.

Good thing I only got it from the library, then, no? I still need to actually watch it (and I prolly will, 'cos I'm a junkie for anime, I need my fix), and after I return it, I may look and see if they still have that Ranma 1/2 DVD kicking around their system. Or maybe the Sailor Moon, even...

edit: Wait...cranial vagina?
:O_o: :sweatdrop :brow:
Trippy.

I believe it was the most edited show on Adult Swim.
Lots of sex and violence.
