s-CRY-ed (Spoilers ahead)

I think that's how they spell it, at least...

Anyway, this series just finished up on AS yesterday (today?) and the only kind of thing I've seen about it was an RP that went on a while ago.

So, here it is. The thread for Scyred, since nobody else made it. Feel free to share your favorite moments, thoughts on the series, etc., etc.

As for my thoughts on the show: I absolutely loved it. It wasn't the most developed show out there in terms of message and such, but it had a helluva lot of heart. And, with some good animation, a surprisingly good story line (for this kind of "beat it till it's dead" show, anyway), well developed characters (for the most part), a god dub, and some majorly kickass fight scenes, I'd say that a little heart goes a long way.

Also, in my opinion, Kazuma's third form is one of the ultimate representations of badass in my mind. It looks odd on paper, but seeing him moving around in that big, orange thing... Wow. It's just so cool.

I'll say some more later, so, in the mean time, start saying whatever you feel like saying about this surprisingly nice anime.

So you know Kazuma could always regenerate, you see it very early in the comic atleast. Then again in the anime it might only be his second for since his arm becomes the alter rather then just being covered by it.

I also think Kazuma is the strongest, they tied on everything except level 1s.

I liked how all of Kazuma's power upgrades were a result of Kazuma being like "Yeah? Well fuck you!"

That other asshole had the whole stereotypical 'look inside yourself and find the true understanding of aligning your body and soul for true love's enlightenment as the butterfly becomes the caterpillar so the guy who kicks ass becomes the guy who kicks lots of ass'.

Kazuma's big moments were all 'look inside yourself and find you know what? Fuck this, I'ma just beat the shit out some fools.'

Um... oh yeah, Conomy grew up to be totally hot. Even if she did have that whole annoying Jubilee thing going on.

Mimori just kinda annoyed me. Especially in the last episode. Spoiler: "Oh, I must face this! I must stand firm and not run away!" Bitch, you're not the one fighting! She just kinda seemed whiny during the entire show, and while I can almost say the same for Sherrice, for some reason I didn't find her as annoying as Mimori. It's probably the hair, and the fact that her voice is familiar to me.

Kazuma just rocked. As fifthfiend said, everytime he got more powerful it was just to screw the other person over. I liked Ryuuho at the very beginning, but even though there was supposed to be character development it just felt like it was out of character in the last two episodes.

Finally, Cougar is my favorite. Why? Because he's Cougar, and that's all the reason I need.

Raiden 12-11-2005 02:36 PM

I especially liked the last one. They were so into their fight, they just got down and dirty. Even when they couldn't use their alters anymore, they simply started beating each other's ass!

Oh, and Kazuma won. His arm went up at the end of the fight, so was the last one standing.

I don't like how Cougar died. I know using his speed ate up his lifespan, but still.

I really didn't like Ryuuho that much. Until his third form, he never really had to fight. He simply sent his alter out to do his bidding, unlike Kazuma who was always in the fray.

Plus, Ryuuho and Konami seemed to be chummy near the end. Nevermind that Ryuuho attacked her and tried to use her as bait to kill Kazuma.

On who is stronger, I assumed that the show was saying Kazuma was stronger since just before the credits, it was his arm that was raised. You could tell because it had those two lines down the middle..

I also disliked Mimori, and liked Sherrice. But that is mostly because of the little fanboy in me, and Sherrice had larger breasts. Plus she reminded me of Tifa, except for that last thing she did.

I think (Cougar spoiler) the creators couldn't decide if they wanted Cougar to die or not. There were three scenes that lead to you believe he died, but then he comes back at some point to do something, where you assume he died again.

Also, not all of Kazuma's power came from simply wanted to smash the other guy. There were those couple of deaths that helped him along.

Lastly, can't any alter regenerate? They just have to make another alter. The Eternity Eight guy did that several times in his first fight with Kazuma.

Edit - Raiden, you are thinking of The leader of HOLY, not Cougar

Edit 2 - One thing that really annoyed be about the show is you never got to figure out how strong Cougar really is. He beat both Kazuma and Ryuuho's first or second alters by himself, but the fight was not shown. Then the one time he does have his own fight, Mujo easily beats him since he can read his mind.

Cougar was like your older brother who even though you're in high school and weightlift for four hours a day and the star of the wrestling team and your brother drinks and smokes and never does so much as a push up somehow he can still beat the shit out of you like he's not even trying and you're like seriously, how the fuck does he keep doing that?

Anyway what's that about Cougar dying? Wasn't he in the last episode, like, chilling on a lawn chair sipping a lemonade and watching Kazuma and Jerkface beat the shit out of each other?

Spiler, right after Cougar talks to those kids and they run away to watch the fight, they show his hand and it goes limp. Then they show him from a distance, limp in the chair. Which makes you assume he is dead. Of course, they have had a couple of scenes like that eariler, so who knows?

Raiden 12-11-2005 05:18 PM

No, IHMN, I'm talking about Cougar.

When Cougar was fighting that guy that could absorb alter powers, he said that everytime he used his speed, it also sped up his life. Which meant that the more he used it, the less time he had to live. It seemed that near the end he went so fast, he just died.

And it wasn't that Kazuma could regenerate his alter that was so surprising. It's that Kazuma regenerated his entire arm. Ryuuho thought that Kazuma's alter simply covered his arm, which meant that if it was cut off like that, Kazuma's entire physical arm would be gone. But after Kazuma went to the other side, his entire arm became an alter.

Also, I think Cougar was running most of this thing. He knew a lot more than the other characters, and he always seemed to be there to push Kazuma or Ryuuho in the right direction. They even show parts of Kazuma's past where Cougar was there. Hell, Cougar was the one that told Kazuma about the secret power in that forest.

Aerozord 12-11-2005 05:20 PM

All alter users can regenerate their alters as long as they have the energy, not themselves. Ryuuho didn't just cut the alter, Kazuma's entire arm was gone.

And Kazuma was a person who believed that you shouldn't rely on others. This is seen with how he treated people. It wasn't that he didn't care, he just wanted them to stand up for themselves. In fact there were times he didn't lift a finger until they did. Unless it was Holy, then it was because he wanted sweet sweet revenge.

Also Ryuuho did put himself in danger because damaging his alter damages him.

As for my favorite, I don't know I kinda liked the Melon guy, he just had this attitude about that I loved. He was like Cougar if he took his medicine. They never did really explain his powers

[edit] More on regenerating, in the comic his first alter form (which simply covers his arm) was able to regenerate his arm. Though I am unsure if this is a special trait to his level 2 or if he just never had to use it.
