Whats everyone doing for winter break

Since nobody has created this topic yet (or as far as I can tell), I figured I'd start one. If ones been made then please merge this into it or close this thread.

I'm going to go to the great wilderness lands of Canada and New York State to visit family for Christmas. We're leaving this Friday (was wednesday which was two days ago saturday prior to that) to my uncles in New York for X-mas first and sometime in the next week, we'll be goin to my aunts in Canada. Oh and this week I'll be goin to a Lan party at my friends place to kick some arse in RTS games and get my arse kicked in FPS. :D

Howabout the rest of you?

I have a master plan for an awesome day trip during the vacation:
  • Set aside one day for the said awesome trip.
  • Take an hour train ride into Boston.
  • Get off the train at South Station.
  • Take the Red Line to Park Street.
  • Walk up Beacon Hill for five minutes to the State House Building.
  • Go to the "Capital Coffee House" across the street from the State House.
  • Buy a Chicken Cutlet sub.
  • Eat the sub.
  • Walk back to the Red Line.
  • Take it to South Station.
  • Take the train back home.
  • Realise that I just devoted the past three-something hours to a sandwich.
  • Die a little inside.

... It is a good sandwich, nonetheless.

Well, my buddy and I just returned from a road trip down to Kansas.

"But Phat_G," you may ask yourself, "Why the fuck would anyone want to go down to Kansas?"

The answer is that we had to go help a friend of ours who got kicked out of her boyfriend's house and had no place to live. Now, we'd never met her before face-to-face, but had been planning to road trip down to see her sometime this break anyways, so we just left a little earlier than we had planned. We made arrangements with my friend's parents for her to stay with them for the break and set off late Friday night. A day and a half and one spinout on Missouri's snow-covered roads (in front of a Semi) later, we arrived at Lawrence, KS, and began our long journey back to Michigan the next day.

I plan to spend the rest of my break doing absolutely nothing, because I think I've deserved it.

I read your story and I'm still wondering why the fuck anyone would want to go down to Kansas.

And especially why anyone would want to go there via Missouri. Missouri loves cars like a sawmill loves trees.

You go that way because it's that or four more hours in the car.

Also, Ohio winters kill cars faster, but every Kansan knows that Missouri smells funny.

And, as a Kansan, I still don't know why the fuck anyone would want to go to Kansas. Exept if they are, in fact, coming 'up' to Kansas... as it's probably better than everything south of us. Which would explain all the Mexicans.

As for my break... I'm going to sit around cursing my dead computer and doing little else. Maybe catch up on the recreational activities that piled up over the last semester.

Cuz Kansas is fuckin' awesome. That's why.

On topic, I believe I'm not doing much other than sitting at home. Woo for laziness!

Because, everybody thinks we suck. I live in Kansas City, one of the most normal, if not it might be called trashy, palce in Kansas. Wee

You are clearly operating under a non-standard definition of 'awesome' which is synonymous with 'Nothing, covered in corn'.

Snow melts in the sun but Missouri potholes are forever, and y'all are just disoriented from the smell of not corn.

I can sum it up in one word.

Work.

Kansas isn't the place with corn, that's up where BMG is. Kansas has wheat and meatpacking. And besides, I'm a yuppie born and raised. No, Missiouri smells like Philadelphia. The smell of East St. Louis has taken over the whole state.

That's right, I don't know what I was thinking, I should have remembered that Kansas actually had the one thing even more boring than corn.

But seriously I don't know how any Kansan can trust anything their senses tell them about Missouri, what with the vertigo induced from exposure to actual topography.

My vacation will be spent by drawing, using christmas gifts for thier intended purpose and lighting Chanukah candles since for some odd reason, it goes into the new year. Seriously, what's up with that?

Demi-God 2.0 12-21-2005 12:48 PM

Does Chanukka really go into the next year this time?
I'm going to be spending time staying home and catching up on all the sleep I've lost since school started in September.

How do you spell Chanukka? I've seen it spelled at least five different ways.

Silly Kitty 12-21-2005 05:05 PM

I plan to do absolutely nothing. I might do little things around the house I regularly have no time for.

I'm very sad this year because my moms family decided not to have a Christmas party. There is some family conflict so no one wants to host the party this year. My mom would do it but we don't have the money. Its kinda funny that I'm sad about it not happening because I always hate going every year.

CelesJessa 12-22-2005 09:28 PM

So far most of my break (which has been one day...) has been spent sleeping, since I got sick.

Tomorrow I will be going to a funeral with my friends. Yay fun! [/sarcasm]

I'll probably be doing lots of art stuff, especially once I stop being sick. >_<

Oh yeah, and I'm slowly watching the entire DVD set of Cowboy Bebop over the break.
