Anime request...

Its the holidays again, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who saw the ad for the free $50 gift card with Mp3 purchase from Best Buy, so now I'm with a nice Gig large Sansa and a $50 gift card to spare.

For all of the true anime viewers (True anime as in made in Japan, and prefer watching in original Japanese with preferably fansubbed work), could anyone recommend a good, ghost story or something actiony?

I was planning to buy the FF:U Boxed set as it was only $32, but I still haven't decided, if anyone sees something interesting or just would like to recommend something they bought that they liked, drop me a line.

You want a good ghost-esque story? Try BoogiePop Phantom.

Not only is it freaky, but it's also one of those types you try to figure out just what in the hell is going on, which adds to it's freakiness.

BoogiePop Phantom huh? I just did a pic search and it wasn't too bad, could you tell me how many episodes, your rating and say if it ever got translated or is even for sale in America?

One piece of advice, don't get FFU. It starts out ok enough (for the age group it was aimed at), but all in all, it isn't very good (although I haven't heard teh US dub, good voice actors would only marginally improve it).

Well I'm not really what YOU would call a true anime fan, as I still prefer watching rather than reading, I've got no problem with subtitles. I found Full Metal Panic to be good, I'm not sure if you'll find it at Best Buy though. 'Cause they only stock recent releases that I know of. Still, Good hunting.

Yep, it was released in the US by the folks at Right Stuf. 13 episodes I think, and it came in a neat little boxset with two soundtracks and a bunch of other stuff. You can probably still order it from their website, I bought mine for about $50 a year or two ago.

What he said.

Also, the site that my mom ordered it from. (Yes, my mom is into anime, shut up. XD ) was sundevildvd.com...or something along that line. It was along his description of soundtracks n'stuff. It's pretty sweet. ^_^

Another anime that you could try is Paranoia Agent. That is probably one of the creepiest shows I've seen on cartoon network. I enjoy the story very much though despite the erie feeling you get from it. That would be another option for you I suppose.

Although it isn't very long (13 episodes) King of Bandit Jing is a good choice if you want actiony type things. It's one of the weirdest animes I've ever seen, and the music is the best I've heard for a long time.

I thought King of Bandit Jing was pretty weak, actually. I mean, they hinted at some cool backstory for the main character, but then never followed through with any of it. Every episode is the same basic plot (sometimes it's a two-parter). I was hoping for more.
