Odd Clothing

Just a fun question.

Does anyone wear any sort of odd clothing? Maybe a funny combonation of things? Wearing things under things?

I myself wear pajama pants under my jeans. Comfortable AND warm. lol

Edit: Hmm, I guess I'm just weird...

BlackMageGirl! 12-30-2005 11:33 PM

Sometimes I wear nothing.

But seriously, if it's a little cold but not too cold I wear sleeveless shirts. But my hands get cold easily, so I put gloves on them. Then I collect weird looks because of what I'm wearing.

gurusloth 12-31-2005 01:49 AM

I wear shorts year-round. In Minnesota. So that usually gets some looks and/or comments. Just recently it was like, 10 degrees outside (+windchill, but whatever) and I was just popping into this store to look for something, so I left my coat in the car, and this lady walks up to me and exclaims, "Don't you have a coat?", like I was either insane or homeless (or both).

Anyway, yeah, apparently if you don't dress warmly in the winter, people think you're weird.

shiney 12-31-2005 08:47 AM

Huh, Minneapolis eh? I grew up in St. Paul. Twin Cities, represent!

Gotta love the threadjacking in off topic.

RaiRai 12-31-2005 09:22 AM

I myself love Japanese style leg warmers, false sleeves and headbands! So yeah, I do wear some odd things.

I also like wearing dresses or short skirts over skinny jeans. <3

Silly Kitty 12-31-2005 02:29 PM

I love wearing long gloves that have cuts in them so your fingers and your thumb show(I don't know if there's a name for them) with short sleeves. I also love to wear pants in the summer. I hate shorts but I will wear skirts. Because I live in Georgia, people think pants in summer is a little crazy.

Gilgamesh in a Hat 12-31-2005 05:31 PM

Last Eid (muslim holiday), my Dad ordered me a vest that looks somewhat like this from Pakistan http://www.tohfay.com/images/product...3-001-2-Gs.jpg

Although, mine is black with gold stitching and see those little silver button things? Those are mirrors and mine has about 5 times as many. I wear it all the time, its so sweet. The best is when I stand in one beam of light, I look like a disco ball.

Now, some may say it looks a bit...ahem...flamboyent. But the ladies love it! So more power to me! But my forensic science teacher calls me Bedazzler when i wear it :(

Deathosaurus Wrecks 12-31-2005 06:47 PM

when the weather gets warm enough to merrit short sleved shirts, its Hawaiian shirts for me. loud, tacky shirts from May to August. thats the way i roll.

Flarecobra 01-02-2006 05:46 PM

....DW, you remind me of a friend of mine....

As for me, I wear my old-style combat boots whne I'm in civvies. Even if I'm wearing shorts, and my denem jacket has some worn rank insignias from back in Civil Air Patrol, JROTC, and from my time in the Marines. I get a couple of looks from those really.

Nique 01-02-2006 07:40 PM

Superman Belt-Buckle.

Not so much weird, but rather geeky... Observe

I wear life peservers as casual clothing at times - I also adore my cat eared hat. Slippers are underrated as outdoor footwear - I suggest a more visible presence.

Right. Like Marty McFly? He was in the coast gaurd, or something.

Yakubyougami 01-03-2006 03:28 AM

Really? I think it was more of a look, I wear functional life perserving vests - they are bulky, and I'm the opposite - I think it looks good.

Naw, it's just that things are so heavy in the future. You know, cause of the problems with Earth's gravitational pull.

That's what we get for having an actor as our president, I guess.

Anywho... does anyone here wear some freakin' kimonos or something?

Yakubyougami 01-04-2006 04:06 AM

I have three or so yukata, but they cost money - and are easily ruined - so wearing them about town would be a mistake. I sometimes wear the obi for no apparent reason.

Nique 01-04-2006 04:17 AM

Those are cool things to wear to a fancy dinner out on the town or something though... I would imagine. >.>

Yakubyougami 01-04-2006 04:24 AM

I pretty much stick to weddings and funerals - and graduation once. I don't want to pay for another one... there hard to get here in the first place - and then there's the cost.

Funka Genocide 01-04-2006 05:43 AM

I sometimes wear a suit for no apparent reason, I just want an excuse to wear my ties loosely.

I had this weird fishermans hat when I was 16, I still miss that thing, haven't really owned a proper hat since. :(

hmmm, naw, I don't have any weird fashion foibles. dang.

CrazyBen 01-04-2006 12:01 PM

Well, I wear flannel shirts over my other clothes everyday (when I get dressed) between November and May, barring warm snaps. Also, I've become so well known for having a collection of funny t-shirts I have people who hunt me down just to read what my shirt says, and people are always stopping me so they can read my shirt.

I also wear a white bandana over my mouth when I go sledding, which my brother says is pretty weird (its to keep snow out of my nose).

Other than that, my clothes are pretty tame.

Pinball Wizard 01-04-2006 04:32 PM

My clothes are pretty mellow and normal. Although I do wear this cheap Darth Vader watch that are usually seen on kids that still wear spiderman underwear. I also tend to wear band shirts and I found these pink floyd and Rolling Stones pajama pants but someone threw away the catalog before I could order them. :stressed: Curses!

Mannix 01-04-2006 11:39 PM

the weird thing i wear isn't clothes so much as it's a full on grizzly adams beard approaching 6 inches in length. they don't get too many of those here in korea. children stare, men applaud, women swoon.

Yakubyougami 01-04-2006 11:43 PM

They swoon?

You know, that wasn't funny until "men applaud". That was just... well, funny I guess.

And yes. Apparently they do. It might be more of a scowl or look of distaste, though. ;)

Premmy 01-06-2006 10:50 AM

Nique I want your belt buckle badly, verry badly. If you had a spiderman one you'd be dead by now and i'd be wearing your pants. Right now I'm wearing my Eljay jersey-sweater-vest-type thing it apparently is supposed to be a jersey but it looks like a sweater vest with short sleeves but the T-shirt is attached so it's actually one shirt

P-Sleazy 01-06-2006 02:22 PM

I wear a mexican like hoodie, looks like a poncho, and as if I just jumped the border from mexico to the US. Its so awesome...and other than that...I just dress like a complete hobo who hasnt had a decent place to live/shower in over a week.

My belt-buckle clings to me like hair to Chuck Norris' body. So good luck trying to forcebly remove it.

Lockeownzj00 01-07-2006 06:33 PM

Nique: what do you do if you see someone with a Batman belt buckle?

P-Sleazy 01-07-2006 06:35 PM

Forget the buckle...the whole frieken utility belt is what you should be asking.

what do you do when someone is wearing the batman utility belt?

Team up for a 'World's Finest' moment?

Either that, or hope to God that they aren't hiding shards of kryptonite in the buckle's secret compartment...:sweatdrop

What's funny though, is that they have some Batman buckles at the place I bought my Superman buckle... Except, some of the Batman buckles are Silver on Pink, which struck me as a little odd, personally...:whee:

ZERO. 01-14-2006 01:02 AM

I have the innate need to make clothes almost useless as protection from the cold. I wear heavy shirts and pants then I wear flip flops just to spice things up a little, oddly enough I have an unusually strong immune system.

Extra bonus points if they are fleece pajamas.

Seriously anything that feels this good that you can do in public should be illegal.

Fleece is all I own... only the best for me. :D

Yakubyougami 01-16-2006 12:56 AM

People used to wear fleece pajamas and slippers to my former education related establishment - and suck on pacifiers.. I'm pretty sure this was raver-inspired style..

Anyways - regardless of presistent resistence of those who followed the psudo-fashion, the clothing was banned from appearing in class. I suppose because the administration didn't like the idea of students appearing as idiots - regardless of how accurate that image protrayed them.

TheSpacePope 01-16-2006 11:25 AM

Come on, egyptian cotton, flecce, please.
But yea I cover my butt in a variety of stlye, from polo shirts to sweaters from jeans to khaki's. and a scarf with my vintage kangol.
I'm hot
*laughs*

mestizo--cosplay huh, like what charcters?

Baalirock 01-16-2006 04:57 PM

Well, I get plenty of stares when I wear my winter coat, which looks alot like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/SOVIET-RUSSIAN-A...QQcmdZViewItem

Issued from the former Soviet Union, it's the warmest thing I've ever owned, and looks pretty darn good on me. Once, about a year ago, I showed it to a coworker, who asked what country the coat was from. I told her it was from the former USSR, and she replied "You mean the enemy?" in a dead serious, somewhat panicked tone. It was awesome.

Deathosaurus Wrecks 01-18-2006 02:59 AM

man, I've wanted one of those coats for as long as i can remember Baalirock. where did you get one of them?

mauve 01-18-2006 01:30 PM

I own a purple fitted t-shirt that has a little rhinestone flower and the word "Cruel." I got sick of seeing all these "I be adorable!" and "Me a Princess" and "I'm Barely Hiding The Fact That I'm a Total Slut!" t-shirts they sell these days, so I grabbed it. And y'know... it's actually kinda fitting. :D

I also have a Cowboy Bebop t-shirt and a Pirates of the Carribbean shirt that I wear under sweaters during the winter. So it's like, I'm a nerd, only undercover. Yes! I'm a Ninja Nerd!

Meister 01-18-2006 02:22 PM

Not odd per se, but I now have clothing that exactly matches that of my sprite.
Fear me.

Ebay, Naturally. ;) I had to hunt for a couple of months before I found the "Right one", and I lost a few auctions trying to get one, but I'm very satisfied with the end result, which cost about $50.00, and took about a month to arrive (shipped from Estonia). Mine is in solid black, with "General" markings on the shoulders, and came with an engineer patch on the left sleeve. I think it was a navy coat.

http://cgi.ebay.com/SOVIET-RUSSIAN-A...QQcmdZViewItem

That's pretty close, and I think I may have even bought my coat from the same seller, but I'm not quite sure (as my ebay history doesn't go back that far).

That's going in the signature. I am in love with you.

Tommathy 01-19-2006 01:16 PM

Hey! What's wrong with being a total slut?

Telephalsion 01-19-2006 02:34 PM

I bought an orange shirt for about 2$, and a pair of orange pants for not much more, and now I look like a hippie, it's so funny.

RaiRai 01-19-2006 02:35 PM

Does anyone know where I can get a pair of clear glass emo style glasses? Ebay seems to be extortionate for a pair of specs that I'm only going to wear when I'm moody. Which would be almost every day. But damn it, I need to save my pennies.

I would try a thrift store, if possible. My sister got a decent pair at one a little while ago, but I guess it really depends on your willingness to hunt, the thrift store quality in your area, and how you feel about wearing secondhand clothing. Of course, if you were going to opt for ebay, you must not be that picky. :p

Nique 01-19-2006 05:29 PM

Does england even HAVE thrift stores? It is truly a land of mystery!

Hooray! Someone who agrees with me! And apparently loves me!

I almost forgot to talk about my favorite piece of odd clothing: Arthur! I have a vintage 1970's newsboy cap which I have named Arthur. (Because people always asked "What do you call that kind of hat?" The best response evar: "Arthur." Yes, I'm a freak.) He was originally a prop for a theatre production, but I stole him after the final showing. I've been wearing it the same way (backwards, so it looks like a bizarre houndstooth beret) for about eight years. When I was in middle school, I covered it with various pins. Eventually it got so heavy that it would fall off the back of my head, so I took them off. The hat is practically falling apart in places, but I wear it religiously. For a short time after discovering 8Bit Theatre, it was known as my +5/+5 Hat of Awesomeness.

And that is the story of Arthur, my near-constant companion and Coolest Hat Ever. I should post a picture... Hmm...

Flarecobra 01-20-2006 03:10 PM

I think the "Ninja Nerd" quote should go somewhere too...and should be sprited.

Oh, and I bought today two shirts that I just had to have. One's a rather firey orange/red/yellow thing, mostly because in my little group thaty I go to town with, we have nicknames for each other, so that was an easy way to con them into calling me Flare. :P

And finally, I found a Soul Calibur hawaiian shirt. It's so fugg'n tacky, but IT"S SOUL CALIBUR!!!! I just had to have it. ^_^
