IHateMakingNames 01-09-2004 04:23 PM

It is out...

All I've seen from people who played it was good reviews, and great comments. So I got it, and damn it's a bad game. I mean, it's descent gameplay, and you may have fun for a little bit, but not long. And it's not a final fantasy and it doesn't deserve the final fantasy title. It's just another Everquest or Ultima online. Don't waste your time or money, there are way better games that don't require monthly payments.

Well the PS2 version won't be out untill March, But the PC version has been out since October.

Xeno14 01-10-2004 04:53 PM

it's out already but I don't think it's that good

The exp grind is just too long, and at it's current state, there is no reason to level besides exploration purposes. In other games you have pvp or something related to that, you don't have that in FFXI
It's why i went back to DAoC because there is some sort of reward from the xp grind

+I can make use of my 3 computers in DAoC, can't do that in FFXI

It's more fun if you have friends you can play with, just like everyother MMORPG. If it wasn't for the expensive monthly fee, I'ld buy it myself. $13 a month may not seem much at first, but I have a habit of creating too many characters, not to mention the ones I would make for specific servers.

Xeno14 01-11-2004 02:34 PM

$13 isn't that bad when you think about it

When i first started dark age of camelot(around 2 years ago), i was pretty pissed i had to pay to play. But the more time i put into my characters. I have over 60 days played(yes over 1400 hours on one character) on 2, and have easily saved more money on games by paying that monthly fee compared to buy a new game every 2-3 weeks

course now i'm up to $39 a month, but i split it with my brother

The_Bear 01-12-2004 12:05 AM

I know it costs money to keep servers up, but c'mon, most are charging over $200 a year. I'll only pay to play if it's like $5 a month, I've got other stuff to do with my money than keep up online relations.

What is the matter with you all?????

How could you all not like this! I mean I could understand Xeno a bit, there might be better MMORPG's out there but this one is everything a Final Fantasy Fan could ever want out of a Final Fantasy game! The job system is played out perfectly with it's advantages and disadvantages, there are numerous quests that are a great way to get away from the grind of leveling, the area's are mindblowingly huge, and there are so many random things that pop up out of nowhere and surprise you (such as getting attacked by pirates on the ship to Muhara/Selbina and seeing ghosts walk the stairs in Gunsgen). I can't see how you could think bad of this game, I know peope have their opinions but you probably haven't tried it enough.

There are plenty of rewards for the XP grinds such as, at level 18 you can get your subjob which adds special teqniques to your main character take for example......I am a Warrior and I would like to have healing magic I just put WHM as my Sub and I get basic healing (not powerfull but it's something) I can now heal myself or others in emergencies. At level 20 you can get your chocobo, and at level 30 you can get Advanced classes and Race specific armor, later on there are more spell and more things to unlock by level such as the Artifact Armor that makes some one look like the Jobs from FF1.

How long have you two been playing? I think you bashed this game too quickly
