Innocent Question

I have one question, a very simple, innocent, unintrusive question which should be answered with all due respect and haste...said haste should be almost immediate..."Why?"

Think about it for a second. Seriously, this is a toughie, an all-encompassing question which has to do with the universe and everything -- and don't use "forty-two."

I believe the conventional answers are "Why not?" and "Because."

Don't worry, 42 was an answer to a different question about life, the universe, and everything. Clearly, "why?" would have a different answer.

*cough*

Anyway, I've always looked at the purpose of one's life is simply to be. Why exist? Because SOMETHING has to. The entire universe has it's order, and each of us our part to play. By simply existing, each of us impacts the world around us. It's all very pretty. And messy if you look at it too closely.

Of course, it's more than likely that the question of "why?" is more in respect to the beginning. Why was all of this set in motion in the first place? The answer is all very simple:

Because it's cool.

Why? I said so...that's why.

Why? Why does any bad idea happen. Because it seemed like a good idea at the time. But good things can come from the worst of ideas. For example, due to life, we now have really awesome moderators who we love and respect.*

Seriously though, this topic gets way to close to religion to function without a flame war.

*Not blatant ass kissing.

No no, TWWDI. This is "Off-topic," not "8-bit." People are capable of restraining themselves here.

Now, as to why. I was kinda bored, since I didn't have anything to do and there was nothing good on TV. Having used up all the "staring at the wall" time I have per day, I decided to take a walk. ON this walk, I saw a dog eat a cat, only to explode. Then there were pirates. Me and Croteam and Apathy man went with'em and did things, and I was a volcano for a while. Then we left Venus and came back to Earth, getting pulled over by sexy space police on the way for speeding. I think we landed in the tropics and that was it. I know it's an inaccurate retelling, but I'm the only person with a transcript of these events, so I can make up whatever I want. I'll even add a monkey. Why? 'Cause I can. And that's the word.

Not only is that not an innocent question, if you think about it, it's downright obscene.

I know it doesn't fit the exact question, but this comic just fits too perfectly in a situation like this.

TheSpacePope 01-06-2006 09:33 PM

Why not is my question.

here is the answer.
Eat, drink, and be merry for tommorow we may die.

99Knives 01-06-2006 09:42 PM

Why? Because shit gets fucked up if it isnt, thats why.
