The strangest game idea. EVER.

The Left Behind RTS.

:D

Ironicly, the screenshots make it look like a intense, well thought out urban combat simulation. And you have the whole "Spirit" thing, so it seems the developers are trying to blend CnC and WarCraft. and apparently you can make "Evangleists", who work to convert enemy and NPC units to your cause.

I dont really agree with the religious message, but the production values appear somewhat solid.
What do you guys think? Is this something you would ever consider buying?

Yakubyougami 01-16-2006 01:02 AM

I'd play it.

There are far too many other contestents to say that's the strangest game idea ever though.

Fifthfiend 01-16-2006 01:21 AM

I don't know how you're supposed to make a believable game out of a series based wholly on predestination and deus ex machina.

Lockeownzj00 01-16-2006 08:04 AM

I'd not buy it because I know it'd fund them in some way, directly or indirectly.

So first of all, that's one for the...iratedpay-amesgay...list. If at all.

Second, definitely not the weirdest. You want weird? Vib Ribbon for the PS.

Brilliant, actually.

LOL, fund whom? Christians? That's like, the last group that needs to make video games to fundraise.

Yakubyougami 01-16-2006 03:06 PM

Wait a second... this is actually being produced by people who believe in the whole "apocolypse" thing?

That's...that's.....

Why? It makes them look even more... well - like how they already look just moreso.

I just thought Left Behind was a joke.

Nique 01-16-2006 09:34 PM

Well, the whole premise is like Locke's fantasy world anyway... all the christians are taken away from the earth... I'm not sure why he wouldn't play it... >.>

And these 'rapture' concepts that are poking up in 'Christian themed' sci-fi stuff are just trying too hard. I just don't think any one's going to respect the bible becuase of a video game they played... this is a 'christian' audience game, and they've already been reached, as it were. I'd say 'nice try' if I didn't think the author of 'Left Behind' was trying to cash in on his books a little more.

I don't want to imagine a fraction of my penny accidentally falling on the ledge of their doorstep, ever. Leave me to my delusions!

Hey, what happened to all the other religions? Come now, with universal religious destruction, we can't be prejudiced, can we?

Gittttttin' just a little bit danjerous round these parts. I'll quit that talk.

Honestly though, if a Christian...ahem, erm, 'activist' wanted to really convey a 'tale of God' through a video-game, it'd need to be a lot less overt and not just a face-lift of another game with biblical characters (ahem, Bible Adventures...). It would need to be an epic tale in and of itself, with cut-scenes of music and redemption and halos and corn dogs.

As a Seventh Day Adventist I never believed in that Rapture nonsenes as for a christian game. I would be kinda interested in a Noahs Ark Sim game or a Samson Brawler. unrealisticly. Super Kung-Fu, Chainsaw Jesus.

Bob The Mercenary 01-17-2006 01:31 PM

May I be the first to say that this has crossed the edge of religious discussion several times already?

I'm not going to get involved, a few of these posts have really made my arteries hemorrage.
