I was just surprised no one plugged Highlander before me. It was just soooo easy.

Why is everyone thinking that's what Fighter is about to do? I'd predict the Blade Beam, or whatever it is Fighter used against those Ninjas in his 3-comic miniseries. It makes no sense and it's devastating.
There's nothing really special about Omnislash anyway. It's just a merciless string of blows, topped off by an explosive downward vertical slice. Fighter essentially already has that. Remember the two-fisted monkey style attack? Shizaam.
Blade Beam somehow became the signature SOLDIER move.. It was used with no subtlety in AC, and a few times by Zack in Last Order. You don't go around using Omnislash everyday, yanno. Sin Bahamut only got so much as a Climhazzard.

So let's see. Red Mage may or may not have changed classes due to the hadoken, and Fighter changed classes practicing the art of putting the sword's pointy end into things (not literally doing it, but you get what I mean). Now what I wonder is that if the class change is triggered under set circumstances (which we can't be sure of unless we're specifically told) then what will have to happen for Thief to change classes? What about Black Mage? Guess we'll see soon enough.

Way I see it, the class changes are triggered by an action appropriate to the new class. Mimes are potent by someone else doing somethin' fantastical n' stuff. The first thing fantastical done after Bahamut's silly incantation was...? Yes, the Hadoken. And Fighter whipped out his swords, which provoked the Knight/Paladin/SOLDIER/Highlander's trademark. They're all pretty swordy.
If Thief is indeed becoming a Ninja, he could possibly reveal his new true colors when employing some stealth. I have no clue in the dark how it'll work out with BM, though. Who knows, maybe he's going to become a Necromancer?
