Activities
I was just thinking about what kind of activities everyone participates in (besides hanging out online or playing video games (well you can mention those if you want to too, I was jsut thinking of more group-like activities)) or at least USED to participate in. So just post whatever activities you participate in (and how long you've been doing it), or something you may have tried to do but it never panned out.
Myself, I was in marching band for 4 years (no more though. T_T ) where I played the clarinet. (I've played the clarinet for 7 years). Also I'm in the school's concert band where I play the oboe (which I've played for about 2 years) I've also taken dance classes for 13 years. I took ballet for about 6 years until I got sick of my teacher. I've taken Jazz for 7 years and I don't know how long I've taken tap but it's my favorite form of dance over all. Currently I'm enrolled in a Jazz class and I'm going to take a class for a tap solo I get to do (since it's my last year with the studio) I've also been a member of 4-H for longer than I care to remember (*shudder*). Other than those things, I TRIED to take archery classes, fencing classes, and be a part of the school's winter guard but it just never worked out. (fencing classes and winterguard both practice on wednesday nights- the night of my dance classes) and archery just fell through. |
Myself, I'm involved in the school bands. I play the trombone in Marching, Pep, Concert, and Jazz bands. I'm also a member of Jazz Combo.
That's all I'm involved in, unfortunately. Used to play soccer, but quit because the league died. |
I, um... I think... Wait... I could have sworn... Well, I guess I'm a worthless sack of crap outside of video games/school work/these forums. Or at least school work and video games. XD
I played basketball from 3-5 grades, played soccer in kindergarten(bad idea) and was in my old school's chess club for two years, as a high averge (decent, but not too great[I never really won more then 3/4 games we had a week]) player. Also, just remembered, I was in concert chior last semester and I'm considering staying with it for a year or two after next (Latin is going to take up my only elective all year >_<) This is mainly because every time the teacher sees me, she asks me to join up again, because I was good  |
I play cello in the Chamber Players (that's what we call the school orchestra). I take Shorin-Ryu Karate Tuesdays and Thursdays. Fridays, I do Stage Combat, which is learning how to fake fight but make it look real.
I also am going to start learning Arabic Feb. 6th. |
Let's see, I'm in Mock Trial, on a completely green team that must be doing something right. I'm in Math Club, where I hardly work at all and mainly go there to talk with my nerd friends (kind of funny how this can turn into a social club, but what do the masses know). I also take a martial arts (karate).*
Other than that, I am a dictionary of 8-Bit knowledge, a veteran if not master Video Game player, and of course a sarcastic smart ass. I also can't hold a tune for anything. *For the hell of it, first degree black belt going on second if I can manage, and I use the jatana, kamas, and the bo staff. |
As if you guys haven't heard enough about this, I'm a martial artist. I have a second degree blackbelt in Karate, a first degree blackbelt in Hung Gar, and working for a blackbelt in Ba Gua.
I did martial art weapons classes, where I learned Bo Staff, Katana, Kamas, and Chain-ken. For a while, I was on my school's Lacrosse team. I was in both Attack and Defense positions. I was on my school's One Act team. We did VERY well. We won many awards, including Critic's Choice my freshman and senior year. I was in a fencing class for a while. It didn't work out that well. My martial art weapons training spent more time working with slashing than thrusting, so fencing was quite hard to get used to. I had the speed, just not the technique. I kick much ass in Video Games. You wanna take me on? Bring it, bitches. |
I'm a sexy sexy thespian.
In fact, I'm getting involved in the theatre once again after a 5 year hiatus. I'll be making up a production journal. If any ladies care, I'll even post some of it (with pictures). Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, thespians. |
I used to play basketball and baseball. I hated basketball. My dad didn't let me play baseball one year because he didn't like the coach (who didn't even turn out to be the coach that year...), I went back for a year, but I had just lost interest in it.
I used to be in my Church's youth group, going to all the meetings/events. I hated it too. The only reason I could stand it was the other people in it who were being forced to go like me. They all left, and I finally convinced my parents to let me leave too...now if I just didn't have to go to church at all.... Hmmm....nothing else. Whee. I live an interesting life. |
I did eight years of violin, though I haven't played since high school. But yeah, up until then Orchestra was pretty much the only organized activity thing I did. I try to play the guitar now, but that's restricted to a "chill at home" thing.
I make movies though. Or at least, I use to. It's been pretty sporatic for the last few years. Not to mention the fact that I've been working on a colossal Lord of the Rings parody since October of 2003, and it's only now starting to look do-able. The self-imposed seven month hiatus last year didn't help, either. Sadly enough, ALL of my creative energy these past few weeks has gone into JAQ. A webcomic for an audience of under 20 or so people that eats up at least six hours a day and doesn't pay. On the other hand, I've got a kick-ass story on my hands. Wait'll you see comics 60 and 66! *evil chuckle* Though I've promised myself I'm taking a very long break after 66 (the end of act II). I really do need to be working on that movie... the one with REAL people depending on me... |
I participate in this forum, play various strategy and rpgs, freelance graphic design and work for an oil company.
