Crazy Theory: Blue Robed Old Man

I've been going through the archives (once again) to refresh my memory on a bunch of things, when it occurred to me; I don't think Black Mage and Fighter ever found the guy in the blue robe who initially took all their money.

What if this character turned out to be drastically important to the plot? E.G. What if he was the Dark God in disguise to make BM start this crazy train ride? Or what if he was Chaos?

Thoughts?

If I remember right BM did find the guy in http://www.nuklearpower.com/daily.php?date=010429 and killed him then.

No, that was just some unfortunate old man. Later BM figures out that it was the wrong guy(too lazy to find the comic). They never did find that particular old guy though.

And that comic would be this one: http://www.nuklearpower.com/daily.php?date=010812

The fact remains that he is still an unclosed matter. My vocabulary sucks at the moment, but he still has to be dealt with. Or maybe he doesn't. Brian is just crazy enough to never finish that little sub-plot in the story. Just like he may never reference Doctor Malpractice again.

Or, he'll decide to throw them into the plot at the worst possible time.

Maybe the old man is Doctor Malpractice.......Nah.

Worst possible time? Is there ever a bad time to throw in a running gag in 8-bit?

I doubt that he will ever bring either old man back. Malpractice ran away to not be caught by Theif and the old guy in the blue robes never actually made an appearance.

I've got it! Maaaaybe the old man in the blue robe turns into Chaos and...

no, no, no... must stop eating paint chips...

Anyway, I doubt we'll ever see a return of that gag simply because it's not really an issue. Besides, I'm sure the old man has blown all the cash by now anyway, and it's all the way back in Corneria anyway. Fighter, being the only one to actually see the old man, has probably forgotten the whole incident at this point, Thief would only confiscate the gold anyway (because he's Thief) and Bm got to kill a bunch of helpless old people, and that's good enough for him.

I believe he'll be very imporant. The fact that we never got a picture of him and just a description means he could be anyone. If you think about it, fighter gave the description, and he's known for believing any disguise he is presented with. It might be some giant monster, or ANY guy who is wearing blue! (maybe some relation to BM) The fact that it is so open means that there would be no reason NOT to incorporate him somehow.

I just got the feeling the old man was one of a thousand gags left by the wayside. Brian often brings back themes and speaking characters, but the 'wrong old man' just seems like a one-off easily forgotten.

I have a suspicious feeling that was Sardra in disguise.
