So you would call a compare/contrast of Lex Luthor and Batman while Black Mage struggles beneath 10 Tons of Deathtrap what, heartfelt concern?

On a side note, RE: a Luthor / Wayne: World's Finest Rich Scheming Bastards team-up -- they answered that one in Kingdom Come, such an alliance inevitably ends with one or the other revealing his real motives and stabbing the other guy in the back.

I've always seen Thief as pretty much hardcore Neutral Evil. Remember when they go to the dwarf kingdom? He's right up there in the front, killing things left and right with BM. Red Mage and Fighter are the only ones in the group who consider themselves "noble adventurers on a righteous quest." Black Mage is in it for power, and Thief is in it because the Light Warriors have been a profitable investment up to this point.

(I like how, other than White Mage, the only characters who actually care about the quest/plot-line are Fighter and Red Mage. One thinks he's in a cartoon and the other is outright delusionally insane, and they're the nice ones on the team!)

I always thought that they were killing both for their own reasons: Thief is an elf, and hates the dwarves, and Black mage just likes killing people.

"That gives me a really great idea."
"Firewood?"
"Two really great ideas."

That seems to be what I remember the most of that arc.

Because Lich is back and kicked his ass for good from the place.

Wait, does that mean BM goes to HEaven by default? Scary.

White Angel 02-07-2006 09:38 PM

still, a BM no longer bound by the laws of the mortal plane would be a Giant-sized disaster.

Correction - Red Mage is in it for power, as manifested in the form of EXP and skill points. Black Mage is in it to blow shit up. As noted, Thief is in it for profit, leaving Fighter as basically the only one who is actually in it to be a Fo-Serious Big-Time Good Guy Hero.

I wonder what would happen if BM died again. Would he go back to hell and be spat out, or will there be a long drawn out battle of the previous 8Bit bosses? Or other stuff of course.

The Green Mage 02-07-2006 10:12 PM

Because this time around, BM no longer has spine problems or whatever it was on his side. Lich took care of that.
