Chronicles of Joe (MAJOR SUMMARY EDIT)
I've delayed this project for now. I'm still planning to work on it, but I've made so many plot re-arrangements and character changes, I've decided its time to get my bearings straight on this. Last time I just rushed into things, but now I believe that its time to take things slowly now.

Though I would say that you sterotyped several groups of people as well as the South, seeing how the book collaberates such things may be quite interesting.

Eh, I'm not really a stereotype fan myself. But it not really meant to be a very serious book. (a couple scenes may be serious) Probably the biggest stereotyped people are going to be the rednecks and the political correctors. This dosen't mean I don't like the South. I'm a bit of a redneck myself. I live in north carolina and I have the accent. :) And like Jeff Foxworthy said: "You can't make fun of rednecks unless you are one."
...God, my life really going down the hole if I remember a quote like that. And the Political correctors? They just tick me off. |
As a person living in the South and a person who to some degree is friends with rednecks, I would have to say that most of your content wouldn't be offensive. However Racism is still a big issue in the South. Nope Sorry, NC isn't southern enough. My friend happened to slip the N-word out accidentally and was suspended for 5 days for and "Act of Racism in Public Schools". Ty should be replaced.

Truth is, I've been in debate of what type of character Ty should be ever since I got started on the plot. I've had many different personality ideas, and I thought the one above was the best. I thought about getting rid of him altogether.
But I don't really have any idea of what Ty should be replaced by. A girl character perhaps? I've got quite a few planned, but probably not enough. (The pirates mentioned above have a woman as their captain.) |
