New BM...casted...huh?
 

gah---thread locked---cannot comment more on new BM choice---without---starting---new---thread
I did this because I'm a persistant fool and this topic needs more discussion

The group that was in charge of casting seems really shady about this newly casted person. all we got was some goofy 20 sec sound sampling. mayhaps they're just sheltering us from the pure l33tness of the casted person's normal-BM-talking voice and letting the tension build (if this is true, i dont know whether to damn them or thank them).

Well, I gave it some logical thought earlier, and given what we know; the voice we heard is that of the new BM and it will be in 8-bit 4, I figure the voice will be used only for one line.

What line? Either "I am the Blackmage!" or the line where BM mocks Whitemages. I think it would better suit the latter.

Anyway, don't worry about it. There is no way they're gonna use that voice for all of BM's lines. No chance.

Besides I think TLF choose him just because he's appeared In other flash movies

In which he's doing a magnificent job, provided we're talking about Matt Chapman. Still can't be sure about that, and I for one don't know if to believe (in) it or not.

What the whole discussion boils down to is us having to wait and trust in the creators, who, I understand, will do whatever they decide in that matter. I myself would definitely not like the Homsar voice being used for Black Mage under any circumstances (except outtakes maybe), but nowhere is stated I have to, and selecting the voice actor is none of my business (especially since it's way too much work).

So, how about we all just lean back, relax and wait for the flash to come? 'Cause, that's like the only way to decide if it's any good, and if it really sucks, well, we can still complain then.

Dr cool: calm down ;) I dont think they'd be unwise enough to piss off this much of the fan base by using some dopey voice 100% of the time in the episodes that most of us could have pulled off if we were trying to NOT get chosen in the casting call. (I'd post my rendition of it, but I dont EVER want to sound like that)
and I do agree that bm needs a cynical-sardonic-mass murderer voice that makes you want to shake your head thinking that was so horrible...and fuggin AWESOME. Hopefully the casted person can provide.

I suppose if the creators managed to create those awesome 3 episodes from nothing but some talented voice actors, animators, and some existing webcomics, I'm sure they'll whip up something that we'll all enjoy, but it just irks me that they gave us that voice sampling instead of what BM would sound like when he normally talks.

Actually, it's Homsar.

And I think it's a great sample for them to show everyone. This way they've got something concrete to prove to the fanbase they have casted someone, but it keeps the real voice a mystery. Bravo.

OK, here's my opinion. They said that yes, that voice will be in the strip. But, anyone think that it might be part of the bloopers?

And it'd be a really big joke on everyone else too, thinking it's the actual line, when it's just a line in the bloopers, with 'SUCKER!' on the bottom of the screen.

Besides, all of the other HomeStar Runner references were in the bloopers as well.

It makes sense to me.

OK, first off, Dr. Cool, you need to chill. I seriously doubt that that particular voice will be used permanently. BM may be evil, but keep in mind, this is humor. That voice will be used at some point or another, whether it be in the outtakes, or in a single line. Besides, TLF has pulled off three great flashes, I'm sure he can manage a fourth. We just need to sit back, watch, and have faith.
Second of all, I have to say that I'm also a huge Homestar fan, so if that is Matt Chapman, well, that would be the ultimate incarnation of cool. Well, here's hoping! :D

I just checked my pulse, and it hasn't killed me yet. I doubt it will, nor do I believe it will kill anyone else.

It's not like we have a divine right to be both entertained and satisfied 100% at all times, nor does TLF or any of them have a divine mandate to kiss our asses or even entertain us. THEY CHOOSE TO DO THIS.

I'm really completely ignoring all the posts in this thread but one. And that one, had virtually nothing to do with what all ye folk imbued with the power of suck are arguing about.

Here goes, Somebody said 'black mage is evil, he casts level 9 doom spells blah blah blah etc.'

I really get more of the vibe that he's a clumsy failure. Kinda like Vivi in FFIX, in that, he may be evil, but he's a social clod, and doesn't actually know what he's talking about.

This harkens back to a post I made in that stupid goth thread about how several goths, me included, are actually quite cheerful people, and though they may wear black, and listen to music about slitting their wrists, they really love to cuddle puppies and have excessive amounts of sex...*cough* anyways, this is just my interpretation of the character.
Personally, I think it'd be hilarious if BM lapsed out of his stereotypical evil character and then suddenly caught himself, i.e. "snap out of it, you fool!"

edit: The bloopers have been written since before we finished the last episode, so...It's up in the air about whether we're using Rasmoh's "impression" in the bloopers so long as none of you know what they are. :D

The original thread was closed most likely to the fact that it exceeded 60 posts. That's when most threads are closed in these here parts.

And I still find all the wild speculation and near flaming in this conversation to be quite funny.

what i don't understand is if that is the new BM voice then why doesn't everyone make their own 8BT 4 instead of complining about it? i mean yeah if they use that voice outside the bloopers, it will suck but it's not like TLF is the only one capable of making flash

But this is where you are wrong. TLF is actually the only human being capable of making Flash animations. All other Flashes where stolen from him and posted by someone else first so they could take credit. All in all, the goats will have their way with you as well for your ignorance.

My identity is known. I dragonglove am actually TLF. I couldn't accept the role myself as everybody would know that BM and the guy yelling cut are infact the same being. The only reason I ever posted an audition to begin with was to show you how good you should be. After I heard Rasmoh's audition I had to accept it because it was something I was not expecting. After this, I will no longer be making flash animations. I will be starting my own webcomic about the people who visit forums all day and otherwise have no life. There will be running jokes about febreeze and porn throughout, and you will all hate it, cause that's just what happens when you try to do something good.

As for everything else, it's all true. The Chapmans don't exist, TLF doesn't exist, and the guy who says he's seen the Chapmans barely exists and has false memories. you've probably noted I did too...but this is the reason I remember this, I took note when I first saw him post that he joined around the same time as I did (I joined for the sole reason of being able to participate in the casting call)...but I just passed it off as conincidence until now.

I do post to both Flashplayer and Geodogs, moreso as an afterthought so others can view the movies. Newgrounds seems to be where it's at.

This could very well change sometime in the future, ie we might develop our own site if we ever really feel moved to do so. Some fans have offered free hosting if we ever do make that leap. Still though, there already is a home for 8-Bit Theater, and Nuklearpower is it. I doubt people would visit a site that does little more than inform its readers on the animation status of a webcomic.

I'm guessing the animations would eat up bandwith like nothing else. Besides, Newgrounds is a great place. I'm told lots of people who never even heard of 8-Bit saw the animations and then came here. Nothing beats free advertising...except goats.

Yeah, goats beat everything. Except Dr Pepper or Mr Pibb(.less as Brian aptly pointed out). DP beats all, but it rarely has it's way with people.

We had to let go of our old BM, as he suddenly found it necessary to have a life. So, it was sort of a mutual decision that he go do whatever with his girlfriend and his several jobs, and we'd find a replacement.

Episode 4 should be coming out near the end of february if my estimations are correct.

It was neither spam nor nonsense. It all made perfect...well it all made sense, and was all on topic. Sometimes you had to look at it just right, and kind of squint, but it made sense and applied to the topic. Also for some of it you had to be just a little off, but aren't we all. I don't know why people keep complaining because the next flash movie is going to rock and their is nothing you can do to change whoever got the part.

and one of their friends named david green put matt chapman in one of his movies called All the real girls and he got credited as strong bad.

I'm pretty sure there's a possibility that the voice sample shows the real winner.... y'know... if you look on the website there a more than the dumb voice we heard... so I think there's a possibility that they use the guy.

Post Script: It's a lie you fool. I say this because: a)the Chapmans were just CG animated in those movies and interviews, and b)I can't believe you couldn't tell I was joking when I said all those people didn't exist.
