I'm new so...

I really don't know if this has been brought up before, but on the Geust strip called vacation strip '04 #5, it talks about how Fighter had a dream about the light warriors getting a class change.

It say's that Fighter talked to a dragon and it sent them on a quest for a rats tail...

interesting, eh?

(p.s. sorry I didn't link to it, I don't know how..:sweatdrop )

Here ya go!
I think it has been linked before and the most you could derive from it would be fighter has premonitions.

Plus, it's a guest comic and doesn't have a direct effect on the comic. It just stated future happenings.

Editted to fix link.

I just got excited for a minute... lol
Thanks for your....patience?

Oops, sorry. Bad Keyboard.

And don't worry about it.

Welcome to the forums and I hope you enjoy you're stay. Go ahead and browse around non 8-Bit related topics, but please read the rules if you already haven't.:D

The story is already mostly written anyway, you can read up on the story line of final fantasy one to figure out what "should" happen next.

That really shouldn't be that big a surprise. This comic is a retelling of the storyline of Final Fantasy I. The whole dire-rat-tail, Castle of Ordeals, column-tapping, zombie dragon, Bahamut business...that was all from the game.

As I am also brand new, I guessed that this was as oppropriate place as any to post this...
While true that the story mostly follows the plot of FF1, it's also very true that there are a number of plot elements that do not, and to say with any kind of surety that Brian will take the next steps from the game doesn't seem completely valid.

Further, looking at various strips, it seems that the entire thing IS prepared before hand, but not necessarrily from the game, so much, as from Brian's own workings. I mean, comic number 403 alone (let alone the new sub-plot of the avatars of divine powers each of the characters has recently acquired as their guides, complete with implications that *shuts self up before making theoretically possible spoiler*) should be proof of that.

At any rate, I have a question. If I were to post a suggestion of a theory somewhere, (I have read and re-read the rules, but remain slightly confused on this one topic) and the theoretical possible spoiler-idea that may or may not be in my brain somewhere, where would it be, would it be bad if I did, and what constitutes as spoilers/non-spoilers, given my understanding that I am supposed to place either six ones or 'spoiler text' in html in front of it, so that I know what to mark as spoilers and what to not bother with.

Also, does anyone know for certain who's journal it is in episodes '8-bit chronicles' 1-3? Ostesibly it seems to be Red Mage's, but upon closer inspection, my guess is that it's thief's. Just a guess.

It ain't a spoiler if it's just a theory of yours.

And, yeah, it's Red Mage's journal. Each entry involves knowledge that we are shown is gained by Red Mage.

You are right! Brian has testified long ago that the entire story is planned out.

I think you meant 434.

If you mess up once, not so bad. Spoiler is whatever people might not know that would spoil the story. However, assume that everybody has read all of 8-Bit Theater. Also, use the saerch engine to see if the theory has already been made.

RM was asking questions about what the Hadoken was about. Unless Thief convinced RM to ask questions for him, and is nerdy enough to make such a document, I think it's RM.

tacticslion 02-15-2006 10:41 PM

Yes, indeed, I meant comic 434! Thank you, I have dislexia (seriously)! So yeah, 434.

As far as thief-versus-Red Mage (or even Black Mage), yeah, it seems that it would be RM's, but the fact remains that they were dissappointed by how POWERFUL the sword-chucks were (not at how stupid). The only people I'd guess that have the cunning and evil to realize that they weren't just a stupid idea (although they are) would seem to be Thief or Black Mage. I guessed Thief, because he's admitted to messing with RM's mind, stealing secrets and souls, and keeping a record of everyone's strengths, weaknesses, and full printouts of anything able to be blackmailed. Still, from the reaction to the sword-chucks, it could easily have been BM, who was simply interrupted in writing the journal when RM asked him about it. OR it could even have been "Magus", who may have been narrating the whole story. Or not. Their seeming dissappointment at the power of swordchucks yet admission that 'some things are too horrible' makes me think: EVIL (but not TOO evil). The other idea is that BM could be excising his conscience by writing it down... thereby becoming more evil? Right... onto next topic.

Right. So my theory: the reason fighter doesn't die: he's got the armoire of invulnerability (technically in a pocket-sphere, but still). Further, I think it was Dr. Swordopolis who possessed the old guy in blue robes to convice them to go on the quest (much as he has previously). Probably the guy just meant to scam them, but Dr. Swordopolis made some good came out of it... or not. Also, I'm quite positive that the two that are talking in comic 434 are fighter and BM. BM is nearly too obvious... and is also almost definately the one who will eventually become Chaos, the final boss (I've thought it may be Garland or even King Steve in the past, looking at what they've done, but BM seems to be perfect for the role), and Fighter... well, Fighter's his 'best friend'. Also, BM seems to be leading someone with an average intelligence on in 434, and while not everything comes from the games, intelligence levels seem to (where applicable). Fighters gain pathetic INT when they level as such, but Knights (or Paladins, as it seems Fighter has become, since he has the 'Protect' skill) gain normal (average) intelligence. Finally, it makes sense that the two who are best friends are the two who, in the end, face off against each other. While the text doesn't indicate two foes (in fact it indicates two very, very close friends), it does seem that something large is about to happen, and from "Magus'" comments, I would guess it's Fighter about to show down with BM. Plus, BM states a) he'll kill them all, and b) at least they can laugh about it. So... yeah. I'm pretty sure people will back me up on the BM thing, but I feel relatively convinced of the Fighter thing too. Right. Um... hope that wasn't too long.
