Red Mage and Black Mage Abilities

Hi everyone! This is my first post, though I have been lurking for awhile. Forgive me if something similar has been posted.

Although we all know how creative Brian is, I must admit that I was a little concerned when I read about Black Mage getting blue magic. It seemed like it might be too similar to Red Mage's miming ability. But the I realized that the differences between the two are quite significant. Also, it appears that they retain all of the abilities from their original classes.

So my question is this: how do you think these abilities will play out in future confrontations?

My guess is that Red Mage's miming will be used much more often, with Black Mage only learning a few powerful spells using Blue Magic.

I personally can't imagine blue magic being particularly useful for Black Mage at all at least from what I've heard about blue magic. Black mage needs to be hit by the magic to get it's powers and any spells that are powerful enough to be worth getting will simply kill him but i have a feeling we'll find out something fairly integral to how blue magic works in the next comic.

I recall there being some mention from brain that blue magic only does not work on allies magic, and that miming only works on a allies abilities. It seems he is mixing Final Fantasy Tatics with Final Fantasy One as far as classes go, and he has used the tatic's images in one of his comics before aswell.

In any previous FF game, you need a "control" ability of some sort to get a mob to cast white wind on you.

Though.....since all monsters seem to be inept in this game....I can't see why they don't trick them into using it on BM...

Or hey! Just have thief steal it for him. :P

Vesus 02-16-2006 11:34 AM

Why would BM possibly want White Wind?
Dont answer with how its usefull to him, as we all know its not a contributing factor...
Unless it turns out the "White" is some sort of chemicle that burns humans skin off/makes them im/explode then I very much doubt he would go through that much trouble...

........to show up RM?

Vesus 02-16-2006 12:23 PM

BM knows that RM wouldnt care, as RM doesnt claim to be a Healer...
Although its know known that BM is a adolecent, in a way, if BM wanted to show up RM he would show up RM in an art that RM is fond, and farmiliar with...

Its like saying to a paraplegic "Ha! I can run faster then you!" Although not as insulting
