Soldiers of Light (sign-ups)

Why, what is this? Soldiers of Light? AMAZING! It lives again. I've got to say, since I put up the interest thread, I've gotten quite a few e-mails and IMs about it. People seem excited, and now, you guys got me excited again, too.

The setting of the RP is a pseudo-Feudal Era Japan. While it has all the same Japanese culture (such as an Empirical hierarchy, samurai and swordsmen, etc.) However, no big events of Real Japan are the same. Anyway, the story is as follows:

Over a thousand years before the current RP takes place, the Demon King Talkatz decided that he no longer just wanted to rule the underworld and the demons which inhabited it. He wanted to rule the human world as well. So, he and his army of demon soldiers moved into the human world and started to take over. Now, as could be guessed, the humans didn't like that too much. They fought back, but no fight they ever fought ended well. A great turning point in the battle happened when a demon and a human worked together.

A demon blacksmith in Talkatz's forges was not there by choice. He didn't want to have any part of the fight. However, he was one of the greatest divine sword artisans that the demon world had to offer. As such, the demon king took his family hostage, and forced the demon to work for him. One day, a human samurai named Genkai Tama was wandering the wastelands, searching for any means to destroy the demon interlopers. In his travels, he fell into a deep hole, and landed in the demon forgers. The demon blacksmith and human samurai met, exchanged stories, and came up with a deal. The demon blacksmith would forge a sword of untold power, and Tama would use it to destroy Talkatz. Then, the human world would be safe, and the demon would get his family back.

After several months of forge work, rune work, and searching for the rare materials needed, it was finished. From a mix of demon forge and human purification magic came the birth of the Raigaki, the Sword of Light. Tama took the sword, and began to fight his way to Talkatz's lair. Along the way, he managed to collect a small group of followers, each special in their own way. When they reached the Demon King's lair, they were expected. There was a large army of demons waiting for them. The entire army was slaughtered before the might of Tama and his followers. The problem was Talkatz's elite demons, the group known as the Weapon Altmas. They each specialized in a demonic weapon, and to get Tama inside to fight the demon king, his followers sacrificed themselves to destroy the elite demons. Once inside, Tama faced Talkatz in battle, and almost defeated him. Before he could be fully killed, Talkatz separated his soul from his body and escaped. Tama left the lair, and went home. He then hid his sword in a secret place, so that if or when the Demon King returned, the sword would be ready for its new owner to wield it. Well, it's a millenia later, and Talkatz is up to his old tricks again. And Genkai Kurama, a distant descendent of Tama, is leaving home with an ancient blade at his hip...

A fun twist in this RP is that we have both good guys and bad guys. The bad guys will help add in some character to the other side. And they don't always lose. They might run in and steal something the good guys were going to get, and then the good guys will have to run after them. However, an important thing. THE BAD GUYS WILL LOSE AT THE END OF THE RP. At the end of the RP, you will either go down with your master, or convert to the good guys. And also, this is a mostly fighting RP. So, there will be at MOST two mages on each side. The rest will use melee fighting.

Also, your character gets two special skills they can use in a fight. It can't be something like "I'm a great swordsman!". It's the fucking feudal era. If you aren't a swordsman, you're dead. But if you can, say, set your blade on fire with your mind so that it both burns and cuts, well that's pretty damn special. Also, if you're a demon or half-demon, your special skills must correlate with what kind of demon you are. If you're an Earth demon, you're not going to be summoning rain anytime soon. Also, your two special skills must be related somehow. If you have the ability to absorb demon souls and shoot them as attacks, then you aren't going to be magically creating fire. However, if you want to use souls to create barriers as well, then that's fine.

Sign-ups are as follows:

Name: (Using Japanese form. The first is your "Family" name, like your last name. The second is "Your" name, your individual name.)
Side: (Good (Working to destroy Talkatz)/Bad (Working FOR Talkatz))
Race: (Human/Demon/Half-Demon. Also, your race doesn't decide what side you're on. You can be a demon that's on the good side, or a human on the bad side. It doesn't matter.)
Age: (Obvious)
Appearance: (Obvious)
Weapons: (What's he/she packin'?)
Special Skill: (Can he/she split into two? Can he/she shoot arrows tipped with explosives? A robotic arm? Very short distance teleportation? What?)
History: (What did he/she do before joining the team?)
Extra: (Anything else you want to add in.)

As an example, here's mine.

Name: Genkai Kurama
Side: Good
Race: Human
Age: 23
Appearance: Long black hair that's tied back into a pony tail. Stands about 6'2", with a lean muscular build. Wears standard samurai clothing, but no armor. Wears sandals, and his sword hangs from his left hip. His sword has three runes on it's blade, and it's almost always glowing with a soft light.
Weapons: The Raigaki, an enchanted katana. If a demon even touches it, it will burn them.
Special Skill: Unlike the other characters, Kurama has no inherent special skills. Any skills he has come from the power of the sword. At the beginning of the RP, he has the following:
-Kama: Launches blades of light from his sword.
-Simpo: Kurama jumps high into the air, much higher than a normal human could ever hope to jump. Then, using the momentum of his fall, he points the tip of his sword down and pierces through a target.
-Dangik: Very destructive. Kurama swings downward with his blade, sending a very large, very powerful blast of light energy flying forth. And no, I'm not copying the Windscar from Inuyasha. I thought of it before they did, so if anything, they're copying me.
History: When he was around 5 years old, Kurama saw a ghostly figure. The figure led him to a hidden grotto, and it was there that he found an old rusted piece of metal that had once been a sword. When Kurama picked it up, the sword burned off the rust and shone like the day it first left the forge. After that, his life was dedicated to becoming a strong fighter, so that he could finally defeat the Demon King. Because of this, he didn't have a very eventful life up to this point.

Here is how Raiden agreed the magic system would limit power.

Basically for effects of differing strengths it takes a different amount of time.

Mostly, the time required ranges from 1-3 posts in the casting of magic, though it may be more.

The type of effects that could go into one post would be about the strength, of say a single sword strike. So that means no creating super hurricanes that blow all the enemies away in one post.

In two posts, which would mean obviously two different posts where in between them the enemies you are fighting have time to react, or even to interrupt your casting, one could create a much larger effect such as a huge fireball, or a wall of earth coming up to defend against attacks.

Three posts, which is normally the longest are the most massive effects, such as the aforementioned hurricane (though it may be even more posts depending on what the Raiden and his Co- Gms say.) and other effects along those lines.

Name : Hinote Moesakaru

Race: 1/4th Fire demon, 3/4th Human

Side: Evil

Age: 57

Apperanace : Hinote stands at 5’9’’, though because of his condition he sometimes hunches over slightly. Hinote’s skin is tinged slightly red, and this is accentuated by small sparsely located red scales across his body. Hinote’s teeth are normal except in that he has two barely noticeable, and unusable, fangs. He has unusually long fingers where at the end are somewhat sharp and narrow nails. Hinote has very short orange reddish hair, and he has no facial hair. Hinote has long gangly limbs. Hinote has a very narrow frame and features, his body looking and being very weak. Hinote is most often found wearing a brown hooded robe akin to that of an ascetic. He carries on his back a large wooden wheel, almost as big as one that would be used for a wagon. In his hand he carries a long wooden staff with a top that is curled into an oval that holds a red crystal.

Weapons:

The aforementioned staff and a two knives hidden in his robes for emergencies.

Special Skill:

Fire magic: Hinote’s primary power is his command over the forces of flame by way of combining human and demon magic together. Hinote can accomplish many effects with this fire, but in most cases he needs long incantations to be able to do most things. Without incantations, he could, using his demon magic at most his power being along the lines of lighting a candle. But using incantations he can accomplish much more.

Geometer: Hinote is a master of arcane symbols, glyphs, sigils, and runes. He is expert at using the complex forms of each of these as a means of enhancing his magic, or using whole new magical effects. By channeling his spells through any of these forms, he can substitue his incantations (takes the same amount of time) for silent effects, or by using both greatly increase the power of a spell. Hinote can also accomplish bindings, wardings, set up traps, and other effects commonly assosiated with these types of magics. Hinote often his Geometer magic to fend off oponents or ward himself before he casts his spells so as to be more assured of their success.

History

Hinote is the unholy spawn of a half fire demon woman and a pureblooded male human. The half demon female, had for obvious reasons not told the human about her unique nature, which was somewhat easier for her as her appearance was entirely like that of a human. Her seduction of the human had been something of a joke that was meant only to last a day or so before she revealed her true nature and scared him, and probably the village away. She however was not malicious, and it was that her nature was that of a practical joker.

It didn’t happen that way. Hinote’s mother, whose name was Laria, didn’t exactly fall in love with the man, as her nature made her incapable of true love, but she did grow attached to him. She vastly enjoyed his company, and she felt akin to him in thoughts and mannerisms. So instead of revealing her true nature, and scaring him away, Laria instead stayed with him and kept up the pretenses of being a full human. This only worked for a while, as it was noticed after a couple years that Laria never seemed to grow older. It was considered strange, but most shrugged it off. That is until the two bore Hinote.

It was strikingly obvious that there was something not human about Hinote. His skin was tinged unnaturally red, and his form held many small growths of scales along it. He had an elongated form, and sharp nails along with small fangs. Besides the demonic factors, Hinote also was very sickly, and still is. He was born covered in blood like most, but unlike most he also was born coughing blood. Unlike the seemingly perfect meld of human blood and demon blood that had taken place in his mother, Hinote’s two heritages seemed to reject and fight each other within his own body damaging it beyond repair.

In any case, all in the village rejected Hinote, and Laria as well, this even included Hinote’s father. Laria of course, as she was a particularly strong half demon, could have easily decimated the village being as it did not contain and priests or priestesses. But she did not, as she had become acquainted with many of the people in the village, and at that time she did not wish them harm. In later times, Laria did indeed wish them harm, and even contemplated many times the thoughts of going to the village and razing it to the ground.

In any case Laria traveled far and wide seeking a place for her, and her newborn sickly son to stay and live. She never found this place in human lands, they all rejected her and her son on sight, some even sending priests and priestesses to hunter her down. She of course, as evidenced by the fact that Hinote still lived, surivived through all these atempts. Laria eventually found sanctum in ironically the demon lands. Specifically, Laria settled down near to a gathering of fire demons, her kin, but still close to the human lands lest she need anything within.

In time as Hinote grew up, Laria started to reflect on her experiences in the human lands, and she grew troubled. By the time Hinote was the age of 7 Laria had started to even withdraw from him and neglect much of the care he needed to grow up. In time, when Hinote was the age of 15 Laria grew tired of the ennue of existance and commited suicide. Hinote wasn't particularly grief stricken, the demonic side of his nature had come into bear more then one would suspect. He only felt a small tinge of sadness that his mother would not be there to care for him, but that was quickly crushed.

(Not finished)
(This is if I don't finish the middle of the history)

Hinote has traveled much around the world, visiting Europe, Africa, and many other countries theirein. During his travels he kept himself under the vestments of an ascetic and kept his face always covered, thus he mostly was able to travel unhindered. Hinote is very learned in the cultures of many civilizations, and he is fluent in different langauges. He even learned his Geometer techniques from the Europeans.

As of now Hinote is under the hire of Talkatz, being a mercanery in blood and in emotions Hinote has no allegiance to Talkatz beyond the wealth and power he was promised. While he probably wouldn't betray Talkatz, he does have some proffesional honor, if he is offered enough he might just 'look the other way' and not help when needed. If it seems like Talkatz is going to lose, those types of actions, and possibly some more might have a greater chance of happening.

Hinote is known to many demons by reputation alone, he is a powerful ally when given the chance, and a dreadful enemy as well. This reputation only extends to demons however, as Hinote has never felt the need to mingle much with humans, even though he is more human then demon. His stints amongst human lands were mainly by himself and without contact, for obvious reasons.

Hinote has an extreme temper and intolerance for any who look down at him for not being a pureblooded human or demon. Although he has learned the curb his wrath when needed. Besides this one example Hinote is remarkably even headed, and slow to anger. He is meticulous and intelligent, but he knows when to take orders and when not to talk back.

Extra: Hinote is very, very phisically weak, and he is not very healthy either. He is as likely to bow under fifteen pounds of weight as he is to start coughing up blood in battle.

Raiden 02-19-2006 03:45 PM

Keep in mind, that system goes for the Pure-Mage characters that need to subvert Kami in order to cast magic only.

Demons have their own ability to use their magic, and the melee people don't need to worry about casting big spells too often.

PyrosNine 02-19-2006 04:58 PM

Name: Pyros
Side: So good you feel holier standing next to him.
Race: Half-Demon (He figures, at least.)
Age: 20.
Appearance: Long, somewhat spiky brown hair wearing simple travellers clothes, with the exception of armor that he wears on his right shoulder, side, and right arm, to cover scars. Also has pair of white wings.
Weapons: Pyrosian Masamune.
Special Skill: Fire Charge: Envelopes himself in flaming aura, makes him stronger, faster, more resilient. Wings let him fly.
History: Spent many years stuck in a crystal in a demon hunting village, escaped, under strange circumstances killed the leader of the village, took his sword, broke the sword on Ifrit's head, got declared lord of fire, fixed sword with Masamune's aid, then had some pie.
Extra: Knows not much about himself, other than what he's capable of, and that he doesn't seem to die easy. Is devout to a fault, and is a bit naive.

Jeneralissimo 02-19-2006 05:23 PM

Name: Kamakura Moriko

Side: Good

Race: Human

Age: 21

Appearance: long black hair (worn in a braid to keep it out of the way), 5'5", 110 lbs, dark brown eyes slim but muscled, wears sleeveless black kimono, black cloak, sandals, and silver arm bracelet on her left arm, has a scar over her right eye going towards her ear

Weapons: bow & arrows, a few throwing daggers here and there (don't ask her where she keeps them)

Special skills: This isn't her skill, specifically, but she has an enchanted quiver which creates new arrows once she uses them, so she never runs out. Also, she can run very quickly. (If there is a cool name for this ability, please let me know.)

History: Moriko was never your typical girl. Growing up in a family with 3 brothers, she quickly learned to defend herself. Her father, Oniji, never liked her because her mother died giving birth to her. She spent much of her time with her grandfather, who was once an incredible fighter. He taught her how to fight and recognized her considerable skill with a bow.

Moriko's grandfather died a year ago. Once he was gone, she became very distant. She also began to question her father and brothers. A month after her grandfather died, Moriko started sleeping with a young man named Tetsunari. When Moriko's father found out, he vowed to put a stop to it. One night, while they were sleeping, Oniji killed Tetsunari, slashing his daughter's face in the process. Moriko ran away that night, taking her grandfather's bow with her. She has been living in the forest for a while, waiting for something to come along for her to do.

She just wants to kill someone, something. It doesn't really matter anymore. This battle is her only chance for a normal life again (however unlikely).

Extra: Despite her problems, Moriko may eventually take another lover. It's kind of early to tell right now, though.

Funka Genocide 02-19-2006 05:41 PM

Name: Jyubo (Hitsu) Iori (originally his family name was Hitsu before gaining his title, he now uses this name to maintain anonymity.)

Side: Good (though for most intents and purposes he is aimless, his dented honor would never allow him to side with evil, when forced to decide between righteousness and darknes he will invariably choose righteousness)

Race: Human
Height: 6' 1''
weight: 205lbs
age: 26

Appearance: A tall man with a warriors build. His eyes are dark and piercing and his face seems set in stone. His hair is typically unkempt and shorter than shoulder length. He wears simple clothing of good quality fabrics, with his distinctive insignia sewn into the sleeves of his yukata. A single blade of grass cutting the wind.

Weapon: Iori wields a long hilted (approximately 8 inches of hilt and 34 inches of blade) katana of masterful craftsmanship named Shinkaze. It is his fathers legacy and a beautiful thing to behold. The gold engraving along the blade has been eroded with time and uses, but a few sparkling flecks still remain, when drawn it carves a startling arc of brilliant light through its path.

The long hilt is to facillitate his deadly iaido techniques. His families crest has been removed from it long ago.

A Note on Style: Mitsu Jyubo Ryu, a deadly art which focuses on fast strikes and even faster draws, Iori is a master of Iaido and can slay a man and resheath his blade before the blood has spilt. His powerful draw is an obvious signature of his style, were anyone knowledgeable in martial arts history to see such a display they would immediately recognize it as the lost style of the Jyubo clan, which would be dangerous for Iori. As such he has studied alternate fighting methods in his four years of travel since his shameful defeat.

His understanding of these other styles is far inferior to his mastery of Jyubo style. However, in a normal duel he typically never has to resort to a full power technique anyways. He will play around with more kendo like styles when up against weak opponents.

His speed is without question his strongest suit. His blade is the wind when he so chooses, he can cut the air with such force as to injure or even kill a man from ten paces. In defense he is lithe and maneuverable, typically opting to dodge an attack instead of blocking, leaving his blade free to retaliate. His size is misleading, as most opponents expect him to be slow or lumbering.

He only uses the full strength of his Mitsu Jyubo Ryu when he must, when facing an adversary of exceptional caliber. No man has yet to face its strength and live, and so his secret remains until he can seek his answers, and vengeance.

Special Skills: Iori's special techniques are an expression of his drive for answers and his masterful skill. His Ki is incredibly strong and at most times still and placid. When roused it flows in powerful torrents as a raging gale.

Deleted Power List
what might have been...

Wind Slash: (I know I've heard that name before... feck sue me! XD) Iori can slash the air with such force he condenses a slim portion of it enough to cause physical harm to another being or structure. The effect is as powerful as a normal blow from distances up to ten paces (approximately 25 feet) He must concentrate for a brief moment before using this technique

Glass Cut: A devastating blow so precise and powerful it can cut glass. This is done as an Iaido technique usually, if not it requires a momentary concentration. Iori can make up to three consecutive strikes with equivalent force, each one changing direction by as severe an angle as he can imagine.

Mirror Strike: Using his incredible speed and superior Ki, Iori can attack from the opposite side of his apparent position. If he appears to be coming from the front the enemy will find his blade run through their back. It is not an illusion per se, Iori simply repositions so incredibly fast as to appear like a shadow. This technique can also be applied without an attack, to dodge or simply reposition incredibly fast. He moves about 10 paces in the blink of an eye from a standing position.

Thundering Silence: The ultimate technique of the Mitsu Jyubo Ryu. A draw so fast and powerful it agitates air particles to the point of ionization, causing an electric current to form and directing a powerful lightning bolt at the enemy. The electrical energy crackles along the blade and the bolt can travel up to 50 feet. The damage is horrendous, even to demonic beings it is a technique to be wary of. A man hit full on with this technique is likely to disintegrate almost entirely.

Wind of Death: A technique created by Iori himself during the battle leading to the destruction of his clan. It would have most likely been passed on for generations had his homeland not been utterly wiped out. With a single draw as silent as a whisper, Iori creates a razor sharp semicircle of concussive force. the effect is a wave of deadly energy that travels outwards in a 180 degree. The distance of effect is about 20 feet, anyone in the direction of the beam will be hit as if by the Glass Cut technique.

Iori has slain a dozen men at once with this technique, it requires intense concetration to perform. (most likely a two post maneuver)

Applicable Power List
what truly is...

Wind Slash: Iori can cut the air with such force that it sends a razor sharp concussive blast up to 20 feet away. This techniques has many applications, however performing more than three strikes at once requires immense concentration. (two round move)

History: Born into an ignoble family which served the local lord, his father was a master blacksmith who lived as good a life as any commoner could hope for. He spent his youth on the peripheral of wealth and nobility, always having a front row seat to the inscrutable activities of his betters, but never truly interacting. With his fathers status he was lucky enough to sit in on training sessions typically reserved for the members of the lords household. His instructor found that even as a boy Iori was gifted in the combat arts. When he came of age, he was made a retainer to his lords domain, elevating his families status and bringing great honor to himself and his loved ones.

By the age of 22 he had assumed he'd found everything he'd ever needed. His skills were approaching levels he'd never dreamed of and his coffers grew fat with gold from his expanding holdings. He thought all he had to worry on were his unborn childrens futures, or getting a wife for that matter.

Fate rent his placid dreams from his unready grasp however. Local power struggles between his lord and another led to unrest and eventually civil war in his province. He fought bravely at the front and slew many men with his skillful blade, earning the name Death Wind (Kaze no Shi) for his flawless drawing technique, which was said to make no more noise than the wind through grass.

However as his regiment advanced on the enemies stronghold news came from the rear that his homeland had fallen. His superiors had misjudged the opponents strategy and left their home relatively unguarded, and while the main force spent time with a decoy battle, the enemies forces had already wiped out their supply lines and homes. News spread like disease through the ranks and fully half the regiment deserted in a fortnight. Those remaining, Iori included, fought one last desperate battle smashed between the decoy force and the returning vanguard. They were slaughtered utterly.

Irori found himself washed down a river some time after the battle, his left hand suffering a loss of his ring finger. His memory incomplete from the day of the battle after suffering what must have been a vicious blow to the head. He convalesced for days by the river until a passing band of merchants came across him and decided to intervene.

A samurai without anyone to serve, a homeless ronin with no master he now roams in search of meaning and the answers to that terrible day when he lost his honor and his finger.

Extra: Iori actually has a pretty good sense of humor, and will laugh at very sily things. HIs usual expression is typically very intimidating, but once engaged in a conversation it will lighten. He is innately friendly, if somewhat reserved.

Tsubasa is looked upon kindly by all of the other girls except for Kirie to whom the two have a strong rivalry. Tsubasa's motives are strictly for vengeance. It was Talkatz's demons that robbed Tsubasa's village of all life, including her cherished brother Kogetsu. Tsubasa's training originates from Shizuka's special training as well as combat against the powerful demon Arachnarok. Unknown to anyone outside Shizuka's organization, Tsubasa as well as all the other girls were originally human.

Even as an adult who took care of the other children, she remained hopeful when demons attacked the orphanage and slaughtered the children. Upon meeting Shizuka, she too joined their ranks and became a half-demon. She harbors a powerful rivalry with Tsubasa, who Kirie believes is inferior regardless of how Tsubasa defeated her in a number of duels. Kirie doesn't know about Shizuka's conspiracy, but Shizuka feels Kirie is likely to join them when she learns of it. Kirie has no love or hate for humans or demons both. After all, humans are also at fault for forcing their children to live in orphanages.

Okay everbody, meet the new Suzume. He's much more light hearted, so expect him to be less angsty when the time comes for something serious to happen. Hooray!

Name: Tsurihime Suzume
Side: Good
Race: Human
Age: 24
Appearance: About 5’9” with shoulder-length black hair and brown eyes. He cuts the hair to be just at his eyebrows so he can see in a fight. He wears brown pants and a worn light blue shirt, with a pair of sandals, and has no armor. He wears his weapon on his back in a holder that keeps the blades from cutting him by accident. His knife is kept at his waist.
Weapons: A double-sided naginata reminiscent of the Shippuu in Onimusha (the wind elemental thing), only it’s got a normal colored blade and grip instead of being all fancy and green. He’s got a dagger on him in case of emergencies, but he hardly ever uses it.
Special Skill: Absorbing demon souls and then blasting them out in a violent burst of energy. He can absorb as many as he wants, and the more he absorbs, the more powerful he can make his shot by putting more souls into it. As a secondary skill, Suzume has learned how to channel the energy in a way that can protect him with a large barrier
History: Suzume is what most people would call a slacker. He never liked to work, and always liked to go off and do his own thing. He also had a tendency to defy authority, also slapping the “rebel without a cause” label on him. People liked him just because he was just like that, but no one has ever depended on him because of his tendency to run off and cause trouble. It was this that introduced Suzume to fighting. He just happened to get into a fight with a rather snobby kid who was the son of a noble because the kid wanted to pick a fight with someone. Suzume won by going on instinct alone.

From that day on, Suzume went out to see what kind of fighting people the world had to offer other than a snobby kid. He found what he wanted rather easily, but he felt it still wasn’t enough, considering fighting people wasn’t going to make him money and keep him in a good light at the same time. That was when he saw a demon hunter getting his paycheck, and it struck him. He’d pretty much ignored stories of demons as a kid, and didn’t think they were much of a threat. So, when he saw the demon hunter, he realized he’d get a good fight, as well as a decent, and sometimes even really good, paycheck. So he scrounged together what he had and got the weapons he still has today and went off to find his first offer.

It was only when he finished his first job that he actually found out about his skill. Strangely, he could see the souls floating around him, and then go INTO him. He wasn’t exactly freaked out, but he stood still looking down at himself for about ten minutes wondering what the hell had just happened. A couple months later, and he’d figured out how to at least absorb faster, and shoot out small energy shots. That, of course, was when he was twenty one. Having been hunting for three years, his knack for figuring out how to do certain things in a fight has let him figure out how to make shields out of this soul energy.

Other than figuring out his powers and adding more moves to his “style," Suzume hasn’t exactly done anything new with his life. He’s still a demon hunter, he’s still trying to find that one fight he’s always wanted, and he’s still figuring out what the hell is up with those demon souls.
Extra: Suzume’s power relies on numbers, so the less numbers of souls he has, the more he’ll be conserving and fighting physically.

The amount of recoil the shots have is enough to move Suzume, so he has to brace himself if he’s on the ground. However, this can be used defensively as a dodge that’s quite useful, and basically lets the opponent run into an explosion. Expect him to do this quite a few times throughout the RP.

The shield Suzume produces can be held up for as long as he can hold it, but it WILL break under strain in a nice, flashy shattering. He can move with it, too, but it’s kinda awkward to do that.

Suzume’s fighting style is completely improvised, kind of like Mugen’s from Samurai Champloo, so expect him to fight dirty and pull off some rather stupid things that may just work.

I'm back and I'm evil baby!

Name: Smisno, Haruga

Side: Bad

Race: Half-Demon (Technically, he's a demon trapped in human form with demonic powers. Basic half-demon strengths and weaknesses.)

Age: 1173 (Looks like a tired 30.)

Appearance: He's dressed as a noble but his clothes are tattered and worn with age, his hair is absolutely perfect though with not one hair out of place. His hair is black, his eyes are a subdued black, and closer inspection at his face reveals three tiny horns with hair matted around them.

Weapons: He carries no weapons upon him.

Special Skill: His ancestral heritage of forging blades grants him the power to summon energy into his hands. While normally this energy is channeled into a blade over the last millenia Haruga has developed two techniques to use the ambient energy as attacks.

The first is the destructing pebble, forcing the energy into a tiny pebble within his hands Haruga can create an explosive device. The explosion can range from a tiny pop to a stick of dynamite.

The second and more commonly used of the two is the formation of a spirit sword, the sword acts as normal except the demonic energy burns humans like nobodies business.

History: Haruga is the elder son of Markit Smisno, the legendary blacksmith who forged the Raigaki. Because of this he was the one to face the brunt of Talkatz's rage. Upon hearing of Markit's betrayal Talkatz took the boy to his personal forges where he placed a seal upon Haruga's back. The seal took away his demonic power, stealing away his true form and giving him the appearance of a human. With the seal planted firmly upon his back he could no longer forge weapons either, a practice long held by his family and lastly he was cursed to live until struck down by an enemy of Talkatz, a final spite against the Smisno son.

Finally he was banished from the lands, even after Talkatz's death he dare not return for fear of some retribution. For the last millenia he has wondered the world as a demon in human skin, hating those who recognized him as one of their kin. Slowly he developed techniques based upon the very heritage Talkatz had sealed away from him to defend himself as well as smite those who angered him.

Just as he had become accostomed to his life he had a vision, Talkatz appeared before him and demanded his servitude, for his allegiance more of his power would be released and if he did well he would be rewarded with the complete release of his seal. He quickly complied. The seal glowed for a moment as his body grew in muscle and horns split out of his skull, it was just as painful as the placement of the seal but afterwards he smiled. For the first time in a millenia he felt like himself, and he had but one thing on his mind. Genkai.

Extra: Will probably hate pyros for being so goody goody. (Sorry PN.)

How's this?

Name: Saruwatari Kumiko
Side:Evil
Race: Human
Age: 19
Appearance: Saruwatari is a woman 5'11" in height. Her fair face is pale with cold, green eyes, with small lips and a small nose. Her hair is raven black, rather messy but with a gleam, and it is often straight, reaching down to the middle of her back. Most of the time, her face is set with an expression of darkness and hate, as though she was in utter loathing of everything alive around her. Her figure is slender and pale, her arms weak but her legs strong, her body lithe yet her skin delicate. Her body is very flexible, though in return a bit fragile. Her fingers are a bit long, with hard fingernails that curve like claws, though not pointed like claws. She tends to wear simple clothing, but would prefer not to be in a dress. She tends to wear black garb, and would prefer something short. Short, black and simple are what she wants in clothing. She would, in any case, wear some sort of belt to hold her weapon to her.
Weapons: Saruwatari Kumiko carries a thin, white blade in a thin, light sheath. Its blade is designed so that it would be swift, sharp, and deadly, but because of its thinness, it can be easily bent or broken. The hilt is circular and flat. The handle and guard are blak, with the white, curved blade attached to them, and the sheath is also plainly black.
Special Skills: She has the ability to use complete stealth in any environment.
History: Saruwatari Kumiko was raised in a small, remote and solitary village. Her parents were farmers, and her friends were playful. As a child, Kumiko, who was often found near any area of curiosity, was known to be stubborn but very kind and energetic. As she grew older, she had begun helping her parents more with farming, but there soon came an economic problem with the village. For some reason, the crops had started to fail on them, and they eventually were unable to grow any more food. Because they were solitary, and had no means of contacting other villages or areas, they had to resort to hunting. But the villagers were not experienced, and so they suffered many casualties in trying to hunt animals down. They could have raised animals, but their animals soon disappeared as well, whether it was a breeding problem or something killing them off. Eventually, Kumiko's family moved out of the village, in fear that they would have died since the village itself was dying. Her father was one of the hunters and had a bit more experience when it came down to fighting off foes and hostile creatures. Kumiko was always an only child, so when they traveled away in search for another home, she was quite lonely. Another family had gone with them, but that family had lost two children to hunger, and their third was weak from illness. They had small portions of food left with them.
During the journey for a new home, a trading group crossed paths with them. There were two men within the group, and one was severely drunk. His comrade was generous, and he offered to the two families food and water, in exchange that they would come with him and work for him. They agreed, thinking it was better than being lost in a vast world for eternity. With the horses they had, Kumiko's parents and traveling partners followed the traders to their destination. An uneventful trip filled with only small talk it was. Kumiko had sat upon her father's horse, staring at the ground or sky most of the time as she listened to the others around her speak with one another. The sick child was with her, and she made sure that he stayed away from death. The girl gave the small child food and water while the others continued with whatever they were doing. By that time, she was twelve years old, and was mature enough to understand how to care for the child. While she protected and helped him, she knew that she was ignored. For a long time, she was ignored, as though she did not exist. How it hurt to be ignored. How it pained to be thought of as nonexistent. Yet Kumiko lost all her energy throughout the journey, and so she did not speak. She allowed herself to be ignored, as her parents spoke with the tradesmen and their traveling companions. The second family even forgot that their child was sick. She felt even worse at the ignorance of the adults.
Eventually, they had reached their destination. After hours of business, the group turned to return to the home of the tradesmen. During their stay, Kumiko had picked up talk about some demon stirring up much trouble, and soon fell worried that some ill fate would fall upon them. When the others were gone for a few minutes, except for one of the tradesmen, she spoke to the man and told him she did not want to be ignored anymore. She told him it did not feel right. The man, drunk like the first time she had seen him, simply waved his hand and dismissed her, saying that she was only a girl and it was natural for her to be ignored. Kumiko argued that she did not want to be ignored, especially when she had been taking care of the boy the entire time. The boy, although no longer sick, was shy and sought protection from only Kumiko. The man thought she was merely lying, and so he pushed her as a warning for her to leave. Angry with his failure to understand her plea, Kumiko started to shout at him. She yelled that she wanted attention for everything she had done, and she also added that they were to be cautious because of the demons roaming. The man laughed, saying they were simply rumors to frighten the townsfolk. Furious with him, Kumiko lost control of her calmness and threw a punch at him. Her fist connected with the side of his face and he fell to the ground with a groan. Startled at her uncontrolled behavior, Kumiko turned and fled back to the child she had been taking care of. When she reached him, she knelt down to whisper in his ear. She told him not to tell her parents that she had been there, and ran off. Returning to the horses, she climbed onto one's back and sat there, acting as though she had done nothing. Wanting to forget the whole thing, she leaned against the horse's neck, closed her eyes, and rested.
Her parents returned, flustered, to ask her about the man who had been punched. She shook her head and claimed she didn't know anything. The man, who had recovered from being drunk, said that he couldn't remember what exactly had happened that time. When no particular answer was found, they decided to ignore it and head where home was to be.
When Saruwatari Kumiko awoke, she was not where she was supposed to be. She was with strangers. During the time she had been asleep, she had been kidnapped. Upon realizing this, she knew she would not be able to see the young boy she had been caring for that entire time. Angry, she began to make a fuss, but one of the men who had kidnapped her and three other children emerged and left a deep cut in her arm. Even more furious, she lunged at him and wrestled the sword of of his hand. Like a demon filled with endless rage, she raised the sword and beat him in the back with its sharp edge. His comrades came and soon handled her with their own blades...
Ever since then, Saruwatari Kumiko had seen many horrible things. She had seen things far worse than death. She was forced to work like a slave under the men, alongside the three others, and with every passing of time she had kept in her own emotions. Yet she could not relax as anger built up in her, and whenever one of the men got angry, they would simply take it out on her or one of her friends. Time dragged on and on, but three years went by when the men were finally stopped. It started with her, when one of the men was whipping her with something thick and hard. Her rage could not be contained any longer, as it had never leaked out, so he flung herself forward, grabbed the whip and started lashing him madly instead. She was screaming at the top of her lungs, her anger overcoming her fear. This attracted attention, and she fled the scene, telling her comrades to flee with her as well. They all ran from the hideout of the men, and fifteen-year-old Kumiko found themselves standing out in the snow. They went to the nearby town, where they lived off nature but was able to live nonetheless. They became thieves, and soon after the incident, parted from one another. Kumiko left the town in search of a different home, so that she would forget her strange memories. With her she brought a thin sword she had stolen, a sword deemed to be cursed. She brought it along anyway, along with some food, and she abandoned the memories she shunned and no longer wished to know.
Her life had no purpose. She lived only to steal, to hate, and to kill. Her anger and sorrow melted into only loathing for her living. It all only forged into hate for her cowardice. She wanted to die, and yet, she was too afraid to die. She despised herself for it, and she despised everyone around her for questioning it. Ever since she was pulled away from the normal life she was to have, her experiences molded her, and she was no longer normal. She was a thief, and an assassin. The sword she carried with her was her one treasure, that bound her to what fate gave her, that gave her the skills to become what she soon became. She is not a hero, nor a villian, but she lived only because of her cowardice and her hatred. She had no more trust in the innocent. Her wisdom stretched beyond what she wanted to see, yet she refused to believe what she knew.
When the Demon King returned, the woman still longed for a purpose. She came to him in hopes of having a reason to live, so that she would no longer need to fear a reason for death.
Extra: She makes a skilled spy or assassin.
