Lazy man brings up a serious point. It seems rather daft indeed that certain characters who are involved in various battles may not be able to post until that given engagement is 75% finished. What fun is that?
Perhaps we should have seperate threads for different characters in different areas? This is going to be a massive RP, and the climatic melees that are going to occur in 12vs12 matches are ridiculously complex and hard to follow. Not to mention impractical. The multi-thread solution allows players to sift through less mass of posts, get the same information they want, and as gravy, reduces OOC knowlege. Granted, we'd need to figure a way to keep them all time-synched, which could be a problem. ((Luckily, if one team gets too far ahead, CT is here, and can have his ninja-caribou cast Reverse Time No-Jutsu.)) |
I've used the multi thread technique before, and it works pretty good. Plus if everyone's honest you can have a few surprises between teams, not that I suspect anyone will behonest, eh heh.
I"d say the simple thing to do would be to have one thread for team good and one for team evil, though that might necessitate the creation of a combined thread for when everyone gets together. It could work as a combined effort though, perhaps with the GM's taking over for characters who can't make it in time to post. Heh, I think Iori is going to get along with Kuzunori, anyone with a fully stocked bar is ok in his book! I also hope he gets to duel Koyuki, I can see some interesting things happening there. She appears to be quite vicious, needs to learn humility or something. XD so when are we going to start this thing up? |
Multiple threads for one roleplay is always a problem when dealing with time. I've done it before, am still doing it, and it is a bit difficult controlling the threads because of the status of the roleplayers. Active or inactive.
Often, I'd have another thread that states the date and time of day. If the roleplay itself was forced to move on, then actions that would have happened earlier in a thread would have been noted as "time delayed". But that's my technique. |
Firstly I was referring to the Green kimono. Vance had a little crush on her, but he was a womanizer.
Secondly Chi is still a wildcard evil player. Though he won't be as 'I am the divine voice of Talkatz.' Which was an addition I made in an attempt to give team evil extra incentive to get the second peice. Long story short, didn't work out. Oh and Chi isn't going to be going all crazy flying dragon form. I made that up on the spot. Though he is still quite mad, and he will still be hearing Talkatz in his head. I agree with the mutli thread idea. I used it when mime and myself were running the Divine Coterie RP. Though we might also do a post limit. Or maybe a velocity limit. Like one post per hour or some such. I don't know maybe a combination. also i'd like to see Sendo make a return. He made me giggle. Also. Chi will be needing a couple disciples. |
Here's how we're going to do it.
We'll start out with only one thread instead of separate threads, simply because I want to wait for the RP Slims to happen before we actually decide upon a course of action. After the first thread, if it's felt that it's needed, we'll make two threads. One will be for Team Good to RP in, and the other for Team Evil to RP in. Of course, it will be the responsibility of everyone to read BOTH threads, simply so that we can keep others in check. In the case where we're in the same area, a new thread will be made as a combined thread. Everyone will post in that combined thread, since we're in the same area and any action we do will likely directly affect others. Also, there will be an Omake thread, since that's a given for this. Plus, a little side-bit to this will be the Dream Thread. At the end of every chapter, Kurama will have a dream. It serves to both better understand the events of the past, plus reveal secrets about things we don't know about. However, that doesn't mean that I'm the only one dreaming. Anytime there's a new "Dream Round", everyone has the chance to say what their dream was. It could be a memory of their past that allows us to understand their current behavior, it could be a crazy dream just for humor, or whatever. And I'll start this RP once Dragonsbane posts his character. |
I've decided that for the sake of my own sanity I'm going to list every character here with a link to there character sheet, and then I'm going to link to this post in my sig, because I can't remember all these god damned names!

Alright. I'm expecting a very good roleplay here.
|Edit| Now there's something useful... |
You may want to remove BlindMime's evil character from that list, Funka. He decided against using it and is just sticking with Sanjuro.
|
Raiden, I'm thinking Kanunori is going to find you, realize your family has given up drinking, and attempt to talk you back into it at the least.
|
And you forgot to add the word "Dirty" into my category...
Bitch. (O.D.B) |

now where the heck is DB's character? |
Sanjuro's making a comeback? Oh, this is going to be goo-ooo-ooo-ood!
|
That's...that's nice.
Since I'm new to the roleplay, I don't have that much of a clue of what had previously happened before this. |
He fixed it now.
And that should be interesting, IC. I wonder how that would turn out.... Kurama: "No, I don't want to drink. My father and I swore off that style years ago!" Kanunori: "Come oooooon! Drinking ish sho much fun! Jusht one itshy bitshy bit, eh?" Kurama: "Well.....alright. One drink." Kanunori: "Thataboy! Drhink up." *5 minutes later.* Sanjuro: "I, the great SANJURO YAMADA, want to know why the room is destroyed." Kanunori: "Don't lookshat me. The guy 'ad one drink, and you wood'n believe what he wassh doin'. I thinks 'e ran through a wall." *A large Kurama shaped hole in the wall proves his story* Pyros: "Umm....guys. This is grape juice. No alcohol in it." Kanunori: "..............huh. New rule. No giving Kurama anything that even resembles alcohol." |
I asked him to post this afternoon, and he said he would do it later, which hopefully means soon.
|
That's really interesting. See, that is why I recommend staying far away from any form of alchohol.
|
Oh yeah, just as an aside, I thought I would say that I'll start Suzume off with 30 souls. Last time I started with less and ran out rather quickly, so I won't have to refill on souls for a while now.
And is it just me, or does anyone else who was in the last one feel like this is starting off exactly the same? I mean, Suzume's still going in looking for demons, Kurama's leaving his village, there's a guy on the other side of the bridge, Sanjuro's probably flying in out of nowhere (literally), the rest of Team Good just happens to be passing by for no apparent reason, Team Evil's pretty much scattered... Yeah, it seems pretty much the same to me. |
Let me know when you're low on souls, Lazy. I'll throw some demon fodder at ya.
Suzume: "Damn, I'm so out of ammo." Demon Spiders: "YAR!!" Suzume: "Ooo, demon souls!" *kills spiders* "I'm still low on ammo." Zombies: "Blarble!" Suzume: "Ooo, demon souls!" *kills zombies* "Mmm...just one more." Random Village Girl: "Yaaaah!" Suzume: "Ooo, demon so-wait a minute! You're not a demon!" Random Village Girl: "Well, not yet, but just before you strike me down, I'll be a demon then." Suzume: "...Well, if you say so." *kills girl* "There we go. Thanks, mysterious luck!" Tsubasa: *sigh* "I have got to get into a new career field." |
Or me. Both AB and I have plenty of demon extras just begging for a cool death scene.
It'll be fun, really. In other news, DB joined late in the first RP. I don't see why this'll be any different. ;) |
I've got a new intro, so I wont be powerleaping to begin... technically.
|
As for Righteous Bastards and Evil bastards, I've always named the two teams "Team kickass" for good and "Team Punkass" for bad.
Of course, I tend to be a bit biased in my goody goodness. |
Of course it seems the same. I always have the same beginning every time we start this.
Simply because a massive group of evil demons chasing them is pretty damn good incentive for Team Group to be together at the beginning. |
Quote:
and doesn't anyone else find it odd that this will be the first SoL where Kurama doesn't have a sworn bodygaurd of demonic descent? |
I updated my character with one more power after talking to Raiden.
For those that know what it is, I promise that I will only use it's power for good. |
I'm going to try and make them question the virtues of their evil ways, right before I cut them into little demon bits.
:P or you know, not... |
AB & Phoenix- Thanks a LOT you two. Makes things easy for me this time, and fun for others as well, if they get involved.
Still, I'm glad there's a lot less tension this time around. It's more like remembering the last one, just without all the bitching... |
I've been thinking, perhaps it'd be funny if one of us is aware that the story tends to loop over and over again, like at the very beginning when all the heroes run towards the gunship like usual, one of them says "I swear, it's like I've done this before or something."
|
That would only apply for the characters that have been there before.
|
Just a small correction to the list Funka, the name is Hinote not Hirote and It's 1/4th fire demon, not 1/2.
Pheonix, ya I used to be Pyros. |
You really didn't need to change your name, y'know. I also go by the nickname Nein. Thanks to Kima Azure.
Quote:
|
Meh I like this better, it sounds more original the "Pyros". Though the "of Nine" does sound pretty good attached to the end of it.
|
Alright, the RP is up. DB, we're waitin' for you.
|
HAHA! Second post, bizzitches!
Errr...how very unPyros for me. Let me get into character. "My speed in posting was quite fast, but I must apologize if my rush unsettled any of you. If you are angry, I would be ever so happy to make it up to you." |
I shouldn't be too hard to find, to the demon forces I haven't really kept my location a secret, its hard to make a living if no on knows where you are.
I only told them that anyone visiting me that did not have express permission, or an assignment would not have his/her safety asssured. Though Koyuki has both. |
Seran quick RP advice. Seperate your paragraphs more. That is a very hard to read post. Just split it up a bit, every five or six sentences is a good start.
|
Koyuki is going to go run around and assemble the evil team now, or at least try to.
If you're evil, and would like to *not* be found by plot device, please say so. |
Name: Kanumi Yuu
Side: Neutral Race: Demon Age: 7 Appearance: Picture here Credit to this guy Weapons: A magic paintbrush. If Yuu wants blue paint, the paintbrush will paint blue. If Yuu wants rainbow paint, it paints rainbow. It also erases. A scroll with infinite amount of paper. So if he rips some off, more paper magically appears when he unrolls it later. Special Skills: Demonic Art - By pouring his demonic energy into a drawing, Yuu gives it life. It looks exactly like it did as a drawing, however Yuu can decide if it is two or three dimensional, and it's size. He has complete control over it. Art Skills - Not only can Yuu draw masterfully, he can do it in seconds. History: Yuu was born in a cursed forest by a young boy. The cursed forest was a breeding ground for demons, both methods, and was filled with negetive energy. The young boy had wondered away from his village because he was chasing a butterfly, and he went into the forest. The negetive energy focused on the child, and spawned a demon from him. Because it was a child, the demon formed was young as well. His demonic power was drawing, and bringing those drawings to life, because the child loved to draw. The new demon was a naive child, just like his creator. The young boy introcuded himself as Kanumi Yun. The young demon knew nothing about himself, so Yun decided that they were brothers, and named him Yuu. The two then went back to Yun's home. It was obvious he was a demon, and te village quickly decided that Yuu should be killed. He managed to run away when Yun got in the villagers way. For two years Yuu has been wondering around alone, creating his own friends with his demonic powers. At some point he found the paintbrush and scroll he now carries. Extras: He's only been alive for two years, since he was five when he was created. So, he hasn't had time to pick sides. |
Technically, guys, Falcon can be either sides really, so she's good until her next panic attack.
Mintaro, she's really crazy. Are you SURE you want to have her on your side? She can even have a panic attack in mid-battle, and switch sides like crazy. |
Name: Nanashi Taken (Note: Taken is pronounced Ta-Ken and means 'great sword'. Nanashi can be written two ways to mean two things, one is 'no name' the other is 'nine deaths'. Taken uses both spellings arbitrarily.)
Side: Neutral Race: Human Age: 23 Appearance: Nanishi Taken dresses like a stereotypical ronin, except in reverse. He is left-handed, so it is his right hand he keeps tucked into his kimono, and it is from his left side that that the jug of saki hangs from. His body, for its part, is rather average, for a warrior--meaning he is not large nor small, but he is still well muscled. Indeed, everything but his face is stereotypical of a ronin, but even most of that is rather normal. He has a short scruffy bit of facial hair along his chin, and a chin which is neither strong nor weak. His lips are plain, and his nose is neither too small nor too big. The only thing which really bares notice are his eyes--and they bear notice in two respects. The first is that a large scar is slashed over his left eye and down deep into his cheek. The second is not readily apparent, and that is that his eyes rarely seem focused. They stare through people instead of at them, taking in the whole of a situation instead of any one person. This only changes in serious, and dangerous, battle--and when they become focused they also seem to shine with joy. Weapons: Muteki: a samurai sword with but one magical property: It does not break. It doesn't chip, bend, or in any other way suffer malignancy. Its name means, literally, invincible. Special Skill: Super-human swordsmanship. In actuality his 'swordsmanship' is due to the fact that all of his abilities (or, stats, rather) are above human limits, but only to a certain extent (he's not faster than Funka, nor stronger than TBM, nor even equal). Infact, they are barely noticeable outside of fighting (think wolverine, except a little more so). This includes his senses. He sees 'faster', being able to trace a projectile (so long as it isn't breaking the sound barrier) through the air to parry it--assuming he has time to get his sword in position, or dodge, if he doesn't-for instance. To the casual observer, it simply appears as though he's damn good with his sword. History: Taken was born into service to a daimyo, like any other child. Unlike other children, however, he was strong, fast, smart, and otherwise exceptional. It did not take long for this to be noticed, and for his days tilling fields to be ended and replaced with days training with weapons. Between his intelligence and physical capabilities it did not take long for him to become the most skilled warrior in his daimyo's service. This was actually rather unfortunate for two reasons. Firstly, he was born to peasants, and thus the strength of a mere bushi rivaling their own was unnerving to the samurai, and, secondly, he no longer found joy in training--it was too easy. Soon he found himself taking no joy in life whatsoever. Before he had lived only to train and become better, but now that was pointless. He was better than any of his teachers and defeated them all soundly, many times. To compound upon that, it quickly became obvious to him that the nobles, the samurai, were attempting to get him killed. They sent him on the most dangerous missions--which would normally take at least ten fully trained men--alone. For a time, he was fine with this. He found challenge again, but his skills quickly grew, and even these began to bore him--and, what's more, he now had a taste for mortal combat. For, even against an unworthy foe, he realized his mortality--that he COULD be killed. Even in his boring battles he felt just the slightest rush. However, he grew tired of being used, and he grew tired of not being challenged. He was nineteen when he slew his own lord and all the samurai beneath him. Note: This was not an army of bushi, but merely twenty skilled samurai and their battle-hardened lord. Regardless, they all died. It was from his lord that he received both his scar, and his sword. Now he is, for all intents and purposes (or, despite never having been a proper samurai), a ronin, however, but he doesn't seem ashamed. Instead he routinely makes a fuss about how much better he is than others. He routinely draws out swordsmen to battle him. He routinely takes on the most dangerous jobs--and completes them. He lives for only one purpose now--the rush of battle. Extra: He is a mercenary. He goes where the money is, and he lacks professional honor. However, he also lacks professionalism. If, at any time, he decides that one of his allies is stronger than anyone he is fighting, he will challenge them to a duel, if not just outright switching sides. For some reason, I see him crossing swords with Koyuki, Kurama, and Iori a few times. |
Character editted for story and abilities.

Kirie: "This feeling! I remember!" ...Well, maybe it's only better to remember some things from the previous Soldiers of Light. |
I was thinking of making it just a minor joke, but such feelings, even if they are copped, would probably be something that would survive even 3 run throughs of the story.
Of course that would also mean Raikotsu would also get familiar feeling when he was immediately afterwards smacked upside his head. |
The newest variation of Drak!
Name: Daarkim "Drak" Lightwing (European sucker!) Side: Good Race: Human Age: 22 Appearance: Contrary to his surname of "Lightwing" Drak is a very gothic figure. He's wearing a black form fitting shirt, black pants, black boots, black gloves. Over this is a dark blue coat with a single red detailing of a wolf on the back. His eyes are the wierdest bit, as he actually has glowing blue circles instead of the usual matte. They're almost neon. He keeps what appears to be a kerchief around his neck, but is actually to put over his eyes when neccesary. He's also got very dark brown hair, which is left to hang limply but cut off before his eyes (think Dante in DMC3 for the hair, Vergil for the "template" of sorts) Weapons: Drak has multiple daggers hidden around his body. Beyond this, he's got a katana that isn't actually attached to any belt, that he simply carries. This katana is just incredibly sharp, and some say it cuts through the air itself. There's also an oddly silvery sword that slides into the back of his coat. This is the "Kingmaker's Sword." It's pretty much unbreakable, and the blade hasn't dulled in about 2000 years. He's good enough with it that he could lop you in two if need be. Special Skill: If he sees you do it, he can do it as well. Simple as that. He copies powers and actions solely by seeing them done, and can do them for the rest of his life. Powers aren't as good, and sometimes require his body to mutate painfully and most can be forgotten, but physical actions are with him forever. The downside? When he learns it, he inherits your memory of doing it. He learns the "why" of the technique, making him into a mish-mash of people's memories. It pisses him off so very very much. History: Drak is royalty of the highest order. His father is the current king of Prussia. His father prides himself on his military, and keeping Prussia as the most secure place in the world. When Drak learned of his talent, he was told he had an extrordinary gift that could change the face of the world. His father said "You'll make us even more secure." Drak went the rest of his life wondering why his father did not help the world. There was suffering they knew about, suffering they could help. Then recently the priests started screaming that God was telling them that doom was going to come. And there was a second problem: The Kingmaker's sword no longer made a king. Just by having royal blood and holding it didn't allow someone to wield that unquestioning authority. Drak's father said "Let's beef up our military to protect us when it comes! Son, go start those travels you wanted to do, and come back here as the best fighter in existance. Also, fix the sword." Drak took the sword, then said something to the effect of "Fuck you, I'm going to go help the world. Asshat." He's travelled through and watched the greatest masters he could find for 4 years. It's easy to say he's got a lot under his belt. Recently, he's left china and entered Japan. Extra: He HATES his dad. He also feels no loyalty to his kingdom. But mostly, he HATES his dad. |
Who wants to beat you'll end up hurting your own teammate yet again just so see if you could copy their powers. Remember your meeting with Vance in the Airship?
"Hi, I'm Drak, and you seem to be heavily wounded!" "I'm Vance, and don't worry, while I may be an inch from death as usual, I'll just regenerate my limbs. See?" *Grows back arm.* "COOL! I wanna learn how to do that!" *CHOP!* "ARgh! Son of a-----!* |
....that was classic
|
Yah, I'm still waiting for Raiden's approval...
Rest assured though, I will cut our regenerating team-mate as much as possible. |
But I don't think vance is here this time around....and Pyros don't regenerate. He just doesn't die easy.
