The Campaign Against Porn

An article among millions...

What are your thoughts on all this? This sort of stuff has been happening, covertly, for a long time, and save for groups like the EFF, I don't think anyone's been doing much to stop it.

Naked people: do they deserve to be seen?

Archbio 02-19-2006 04:07 PM

The answer to this question is for me a certitude: yes, they do. Or at least, fighting against it with dubious legal actions is certainly not something that deserves to be done.

Worse, at least one of the regulations which are mentionned in the article linked to could be useful (even perhaps necessary), if it wasn't abused.

I find I have little to say on this topic, and that may not change. The unjustified nature of a campaign like this is obvious and hardly needs to be proven beyond the underhanded manner in which it is conducted.

Well, while I am on the side of the argument for requiring adult entertainment companies to keep records proving that their talent is of legal age, it's the "retroactive for 10 years" part that bothers me, because it strikes me as being designed to put pornographers of any kind behind bars for no other reason than te fact that they failed to keep records for 10 years before the regulations even existed. This means that the likelihood of any production companies having those records on hand is slim, and I'm pretty sure that the administration is aware of this.

If nothing else, it's yet another hypocritical misuse of "Big Government" by the party that claims to be firmly against overbearing federal regulations. Hooray...

Naked people deserve to be seen..if they want to be seen.

Allthough porn may have taken a turn for the worse throughout the years naked people are naked people. All i know is that if there are naked people other people will allways be looking (no matter the numbers) so why not make them pay for it?

I think that a pervert(not to say everybody looking at porno is a pervert) looking at a "Adult enterainment" magazine is better then a peeping tom.

Edit: I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to start a thread.

Yes, because we are horny creatures. It's a wild stab, but I bet porn may indirectly correlate to a drop in rape/sexual assault (I have to evidence to back this claim up! Wooo!).

Obviously I think the regulations regarding Internet porn should be amped up. Let's face it, the Internet is evolving and expanding at an incredible rate, and governments (which invariably includes porn at some point) need to keep up. Child pornography is bad, porn stars should be at least 18 years old, not too many people will disagree here.

Barring a Nazi takeover (and even then, I'm sure the Nazis needed a lil sumthin' sumthin' here and there), they won't be able to stop porn, AT ALL. They could ban all pornographic websites and by dawn the next day there would be a whole host of applications created for trading porn around discreetly.

Our naughty habits will live on, despite the best efforts of people without genitals.

Okay.. okay, this pisses me off, everyone saying "Oh, look! a naked person! it's porn!", as I'm a nudist, myself, and... I think that it's incredibly innapropriate to be calling "naked people" porn. It's the people that do the dirty acts and do the sexiness stuff that is porn. Come on now.

and... yes, I do believe that porn is taking a wrong turn, but putting people in jail for 5 years just because they can't prove a young-looking guy is over 18 is... incredibly stupid. What, does Mr. George Dubya Bush want all pornographers out of business? Then where'll all his porn go?

Dj_StarChild 02-19-2006 07:54 PM

Well, it's only American based pornsites that are affected, yes?
The only 'illegal pornography' (that is to say, featuring minors) you can find out there is on non-american websites, websites that claim to have child porn, but in fact send you through a loop of pop-up sites which inevitably infect you with the coolwebsearch trojan. And posted by the minors themselves on personal websites etc. So...I think it's safe to say that these people haven't done their research, and are trying to eliminate something which has already essentially been eliminated, lest they start arresting 14 year old girls for posting pictures of their breasts on personal websites, or distrubiting them to their friends. So, we are indeed faced with ridiculous legislation that would render MUCH of the online pornography industry ...in trouble.

(me thinks I dost protest too much...)

However, I know of a few websites that have been keeping records.
SuicideGirls keeps records of their models' IDs, Websites like Cumfiesta.com and Big Naturals.com and the other sites maintained by that group hold auditions, and basically share the same actresses with eachother, allowing them to get to know their performers rather well, so I imagine they've been keeping records as well. Furthermore, apart from usergroups, there aren't very many porn sites that have been around for anywhere near 10 years...so, gagpantssandwich. I think I'm done for now.

Do you mean in this thread?

I think that generally, people didn't mean this literally, but I can only speak for myself.

Lockeownzj00 02-19-2006 08:32 PM

Yeah. I was just trying to find a clever word for hot sexy-time.

Interesting. I see there's widespread rallying against this. Cool.

I agree that porn will never disappear, but driving it underground is no fair fate either. My fear is that they will win in some capacity, a la naked prohibition.. It's been developing for 3 or 4 years now, and it's still way too under the radar. I feel like it'll just randomly hit us when we least expect it.

Oh well. I'll be among the to set up independent FTPs, for sure. I'd take a Waxy.org approach--keep it up as long as possible, heh.

Dasanudas 02-21-2006 12:41 PM

Well, being such a hardcore traditional family values kind of guy (for the past couple of years anyway, pretty weird when I think back on it), and being very very much against porn, I shall avoid this thread almost entirely, but I did want to add one thing.

I completely agree with just about everything I have heard people say so far. Trying to supress an industry like this will NEVER work and the people that think in this way are either too moronic to be dealt with or should be beaten severely with a vibrator for a good week. Morality cannot be forced upon people. You want people to stop wanting porn? Teach them why. Oh, and a good lesson for politicians - don't let your career path be synonymous with sleazy money-grubber.

Anyway, I'm just spouting things now. So yeah, no laws against immoral filthy people doing terrible things in violation of civilized decorum to each other.

Edit: My sense of humor is forcing me to say this, but, dude - cumfiesta? Yeesh, cumonherface.com is where it's at.
