Marblehead, I really wouldn't wait that much longer for all the original character makers. The reason why is because a lot of them have the new-person stank about them, and there's a pretty good chance they will just dissappear on us.

Its really sad if you make a judgement on someone because of thier post date. You know its comments like that which make people leave a board.

Marblehead Johnson 02-28-2006 05:20 PM

They have new-person stank because I recruited them from a different forum, so they had to sign up just for this game. Still, tomorrow morning the plot goes BOOM.

Hopefully.

Do I really have new person stank?

*sniff* It's a pleasing musk...

Inbred Chocobo 02-28-2006 05:27 PM

Well, new people that rp tend to just go up and disappear on us, so the whole stank thing is to refer to possible vanishers. But I try not too dicriminate (If I did I probably wouldn't even have joined the rp)

Marblehead Johnson 02-28-2006 05:28 PM

DOn't worry... if they vanish, I get to post their grisly death in-game, then hire some new people. :)

I meant no offense by the statement but the way you say it makes it sound that way.

CallmePrismatic 02-28-2006 05:28 PM

Really its not the board, nor is that the general opinion of the frequent RPers, it's just history. You can't even begin to comprehend the amount of people that pop in to a signup with a join date that still says Today, post a character or sign-up (usually in really horrible, awful, mind-gouging eye-ripping anal-fisting syntax), and then disappear.

We've just sort of become jaded when it comes to new people. Of course, if you do stick around and post intelligibly you basically become an instant member of the cool crowd and people like you and your clothes are instantly cooler and all the [opposite gender]'s are asking you to the Enchantment Under The Sea Dance. I can see most of the 'new recruits' sticking around in that fashion.

Three letters, my friend: P D freakin' As.

130 years into the future, personal organizers would be more advanced than ever, allowing you to carry a media station, encyclopedia, checkbook balancer, etc. in your pocket. This will allow any knowledge required to be accessed easily.

Also, being from Wall Street and all, he could bargain with people for supplies well. Sound good?

Spiritkilla 02-28-2006 05:30 PM

Ok...that was.........different.

Marblehead Johnson 02-28-2006 05:31 PM

I like the "Data access" idea... no-ones ever tried that in my iterations of this game. :)

Inbred Chocobo 02-28-2006 05:33 PM

There is one problem with the PDA. It requires internet access, so unless you have downloaded all that data, your not going to have every single bit of data known to man. You also have to worry about power, as more than likely even if an eternal power supply is developed, it will never be released. Econmics will stop that in a second.

Revenant 02-28-2006 05:33 PM

All right, batteries are a concern, but in 100 years, we'll have enough memory space to store important general stuff, along with personal files, easily.

Unless the economics of power no longer exist in the future, and after 130 years, it damn well better. As for internet access.... maybe data storage? an Encyclopedia chip...

Well, think of something, Revenant, but no godly powers of knowledge. Just demi-godly.

Masamune 02-28-2006 06:09 PM

Marble, my guy is from the far future, you would think they had technology to stop weapons. Also, he isn't indestrucibe, shoot him in the head, legs, or neck. Also, just take his armor off and he is easily killed. And how is 6'7 anything indestrucible. It just means he's tall. He's from the year 3000. You'd think they'd have added messures to make sure any civilizations with projectile weapons couldn't kill them.

Sorry for any mis-understandment, but when you said we'll see, I thought you meant I could go ahead.

No, I meant "we'll see", as in, post your character here, and we'll see what I think. I didn't say 6'7 made him indestructible, but you said his armor was impervious to anything short of a missile. Being a genetically or cybernetically modified soldier from Mars from the year 3300-something wearing full-body armor and carrying a heavy energy weapon is a little outside the realm for this game... just trying to keep a modicum of balance. Sorry.

Masamune 02-28-2006 06:24 PM

Name: J'stin Gama
Age: 35
Appearance: 6'7, red hair, green eyes that can see in all but the most dark, green armor that covers his chest down to his upper legs. Wears a mask up to his noise that lets him breath in all enviroments. Always has a bad look on his face.
Bio: A commander from the future, he controls the Mars Federation. Some may think he is invincible, but under his armor, he is actually pretty frail.
Strengths: His weapon, and his armor, basically. He also has an extensive knowledge of human history.
Weakness: His armor only protects his chest, so hit him anywhere else and he is down. Also, he is pretty frail because of some cybernetic inhancement surgery that went bad. His Mark-3 has a limited amount of power, and during the day, he can barely see in full light.

That good? If not, I can just make someone else.

Monoxx 02-28-2006 06:25 PM

We dont need Master Chief, nor Samus Aran in this game.
Anyway, think of the encyclopedia(sp?) CDs. 300 years ago, it seemed a dream of crazy people to have all that info in just a pack of little shinning things of the size of a sandwich. Imagine in 300 years more.

EDIT: Sorry, the Master Chief comment was before you posted your chara, refering to MHJs post.

What's the destructive power of his weapon, and how many shots does he have left... otherwise, if you roleplay him properly, I guess he'll be ok. Your first post in-game just really blindsided me.

Oh, hell, Jason would love that. See? I'm already thinking like my character.

Mr.McSpiff 02-28-2006 08:20 PM

My guy is currently walking around Evercity looking for his family (if they're there in the first place), so wouldn't he have ran into the coppers by now Marble? C'mon bring 'em on!

... I've just been hit by Writer's Block.

It'll take me awhile to get something decent up there... but I'll try damnit.

I'd suggest starting a Discussion thread, threads over 100 posts are slightly frown upon these parts.

MBase 03-01-2006 07:47 PM

I am of the joining now. Sent from the VG Cats forums I was.

Anywho, I'm sending in Zhou Xiang, a warrior from ancient China who was killed in battle defending his home village. He was 36 at death, in which he was stabbed through the neck from behind, and died shortly after. When he died he had on his armor, and was holding his kickass spear. His armor covers his chest, thighs and shins, along with bracers that cover his hands, wrists, and lower arm. Other than that he had no helmet, and his armor is from hundreds of years ago, so it's not quite up to snuff to the likes of even a bullet proof vest. He was a trained and very experienced warrior, and the man who took him out was pretty lucky to be able to get in close enough to kill him (cause of the spear being longer ranged mainly).

I'd like to post his entry soon, so as soon as I get confirmation he is ok, I will do so.
