Evercity Discussion - Is This My Neighborhood?

All right, players... complain!

Revenant 03-01-2006 06:04 PM

I caused a lot of fuss with the whole PDA thing. Should I outline what its capabilities should be right here, or is it okay if I introduce things as they come up?

Marblehead Johnson 03-01-2006 06:07 PM

Best to outline them here.

Revenant 03-01-2006 06:11 PM

All right: an encyclopedia, oulining important places, persons, and events in history; limited-range hologram projection, one metre maximum; ability to record and play back sound, video, and pictures, in two or three dimensions; and, if this isn't too convenient, a limited translator program able to translate English, Spanish, Japanese, and dialects of Chinese.

adcon00 03-01-2006 06:33 PM

Ouch. Now what is my character good for now?

Also, Marble, is it possible to learn the truth of Evercity? Because if one can, then I'm going to have Jason go for it.

CallmePrismatic 03-01-2006 06:35 PM

Why would a PDA, even a futuristic one, require a hologram projector, no matter how limited?

Other than that seemingly random addition, I don't see why the PDA would cause such a rucus in the first place. He has information on a world not accesible to any of us, with specifics and trivia that we'll never use.

Also, should Artemis continue his upward climb or break down and go join the festivities outside. Whatever is more convenient for the story.

Well, heading up stairs won't do much, so I recommend down...

Also, the hologram projector might be a bit much. As for languages, many of the people here who have been here for a while (like, decades) already speak most of the common languages. Still, a linguist would make translating faster in emergency situations.

And yes, there's a truth of the Everycity :) Hence the game.

I am very down for finding that. I do hope clues are provided somewhat though, as it might take a good while otherwise. My character will join up once he is givin the green in the signup thread.

Well, I've already established that it was the size of a bulky watch, so how else does one interface with the machine? Could you imagine viewing this web page on a 3x2 cm screen? The metre limit is a bit much, though, so maybe a tenth of that is better.

And Adcon, if you really want, I could scratch the translator.

Marblehead Johnson 03-02-2006 03:59 PM

Maybe it projects a dinner-plate sized screen directly above the surface of the watch, but can't really *project* images...
