Strange...

Yesterday, I was in my room, and I hear a knock at my door. I open it and no one is there. Am I crazy?

Toastburner B 03-09-2006 01:50 PM

In a word, yes.

Also...I can see this topic going down in flames very easily.

Dasanudas 03-09-2006 02:32 PM

Isn't there a "Do weird things happen to you" thread already? In any case, why can't you just be gullible? Do you live alone or something? Why is just your room then and not your house? Are you feeding the mice enough? Maybe they were hungry and wanted to remind you. Maybe you have telekinetic powers, you should try them out by standing in front of 18-wheelers and seeing if you can get them to stop.

DarkCORN! 03-09-2006 03:59 PM

I was the only one home at the time, I have no mice (many outside cats see to that. Heh heh heh) and last time I tried that the guy turned around me and nearly flipped over. Damn truckers don't know when someone wants to be hit. *grumble*

The original question was far more interesting, and I should hope we don't have to resort to flames right away if someone holds an unpopular opinion.

TheSpacePope 03-09-2006 06:48 PM

I'll answer in my best alliteration

possibly pretty pathetic poltergiest, porno perusing probably?

or is was just crodevillian team, modding you

HARDCORE

edit: Damn! I read that and it appears to make no sense
You might have a ghost, was it cold in your room when the knock came?

IOWACJE 03-09-2006 07:40 PM

In another forum I belong to, we got 3 of these in a matter of a week. Each dumber than the last.

M'kay. The original question I changed because Toastburner was mean to me: Am I the only one who got angrier at the simpsons being cancelled to show news coverage of 9/11 than the actual bombing itself?
And yes, it was cold, being winter and all.

Dasanudas 03-09-2006 08:38 PM

I apologize, DarkCORN! and Meister, if I offended and seemed flamish. Looking at it more seriously, how quiet was your room when it happened, and how loud was the knock? If it was loud, and the room rather quiet, the sense of hearing will sometimes make up noises just to be used. I've sometimes had this happen, but it's OK - I know the voices are from my own mind...usually cause they're TV characters quoting lines from their show. Wait, does that make me more crazy or less?

The other thing I was thinking - if it was a soft knock - is that it might have been the door itself. Pressure changes within the house, or small drafts, might have pushed the door to knock on it's frame. Of course, if the door is pretty tight in it's frame (some doors wobble even when deadbolted, so it's not always the case), then this idea is right out.

It might also have been a ghost. I certainly accept that they exist, and while my understanding og ghosts is such that they very rarely can interact with the physical world, some persons do possess powers in the subtle arena - I don't see why they couldn't keep that power in a ghost's body.

This instance is alone is incontrovertible proof of the Jabberwocky, the Sasquatch, trolls, and itches in places you can't reach.
