It wasn't an atomic explosion resulting from a fission reaction, it was a fusion reaction, but not a molecular fusion reaction like we know.

Scrotons = the best particles to kick an atom in so as to cause nuclear explosions.

So my second question that surprisingly hasn't come up - this kick seemed massive, and while it might be that it's simply deals random damage or in some other way will never be as powerful again - I've seen nothing that would have us assume that BM can't use this multiple times in a day. Isn't anyone else interested in the implications of BM having a very powerful blue magic spell that can be used repeatedly? I'm just imagining their next run-in with a fiend:

I think the next fiend is Kraken, which could make targetting difficult among all the tentacles. Maybe he finds "one of... those" among them.

That's WAY too obvious. If this does affect Onion Kid, then it should happen from a chain reaction, result of Black Mage kicking the monster.
