OOC: I sure hope he is...
BIC: Jason decided that it would be better if they didn't move until they were logged out, it would probably make it easier for the techs to lock onto them. he stood up. "I've stopped the bleeding...but it looks like anything else is out of my hands." As those words left, he got a comm message. "We've got your signal, General, we're logging you all now." "Good, do it now, and get Scrya to the Infirmiary." As he finished that message, the team was logged out back into the real world. |
Wraith opened his eyes to the foul stench of sanitized control room and blood. It only took him a second to get his bearings back. "Scrya!"
By the time he unstrapped himself and got out of his chair a medical team was already busy carting her off on a stretcher, with Tia trying her best to get close. The room was chaos for a moment as they took her away -- Wraith and Tia close by -- while other medics tended to Jax and anyone else who had more minor injuries to report. |
Normally Jason would be filing a report, but instead he was sitting in the Infirmiary's lobby, waiting for the first news on Scrya. Kaitlin had accompianied him.
|
Jax was sitting on a chair, with a medic holding his shoulder.
"Are you sure you don't want painkillers?" "I'm still on duty. Just do it. On the count of three." "Sure." "One, t-AAAH!" The medic roughly jammed Jax's shoulder back into place, eliciting a scream from him. "MOTHER OF-" Jax just bit his lip at that point and writhed around a bit. It hurt. A lot. Nevertheless, he still had one other thing to do. He walked over to the infirmary lobby, and found Wolf. "Sir...the whole fallout was my fault, and I accept full responsibility for any casualties and all errors. The security system was far, far more advanced that anything I ever predicted, to the point of manic paranoia. However, that is no excuse for my failure, and I'll happily accept any disciplinary action you deem neccesary." |
"Everyone move!" Dr. Odupe called out as two nurses wheeled the stretcher into the ER. He looked her over and shook his head. "Come on people! We've seen worse, but we have to think on our feet, let's get this girl's clothes of so we can get in there and see if anything is damaged. Vitals!"
A nurse read the machines and reported what she saw. They weren't good. Not that he even really needed to know what they were. The sound of the constant, yet very weak and long Beeps told him that she was fighting an internal struggle. Yes they had seen worse... but those usually didn't make it. He shook his head from the thought as he saw bits of cloth tossed to the ground. "Good!" He rushed in and bent down to inspect the wounds. Turning her gently to look at her back he noticed that there was a hole in her lower back, but not one in her chest. "Ok... we have to assume that a bullet passed through her abdominal area, and there is a potential bullet lodged somewhere in her chest cavity. We need to worry about the heart first! Get some stiptic and wrap the wound for now, we'll worry about that later!" He took a step back, nurses putting surgical garments on him as he watched the other nurses do as he ordered. He didn't want to admit it... but it looked like this was going to take a miracle. Did Cyber force HAVE any miracles left in them? OOC: I'm sorry if I made a medical sin, but I'm not a doctor. |
OOC: Actually you only made a couple of boo boos.
1- Don't wrap the wounds until you deal with them. You were right to work on the heart first, but you have to also deal with internal bleeding, so don't wrap the wound just yet. 2- Never turn the victim over. If the bullet hit her spine it could have compromised her neurological system and she could be paralyzed. |
"Do you need any assistance?" A medic asked, stepping into the room. Rose was hunched over the sink in one of the rooms of the infirmary and nursed her bloody nose, which seemed to be beginning to lighten up. Once she had returned to the real world the blood was flowing more freely, but it was nothing really new to her.
"No, I'm fine." She said, she took the tissue away and watched some of her blood drain into the drain, then replaced the tissue, "stuff like this always happens when I push myself too hard with my nanite ability." She grinned sheepishly, "I guess I shouldn't have moved too much at once." then she became serious again when the medic hesitated, "Seriously, I don't need any help. I'd rather you do anything you can for the other girl if you can. She needs your help more than I do." After a few moments, after her bloody nose stopped, she walked back out and sat on the other side of the infirmary, leaning against the wall. She wasn't a big believer in a greater power out there, but she took a moment to send a silent prayer up for Scrya in hopes that she wouldn't loose a team member so quicky. |
(( ...Cyber World wounds and bullets carry over into the real world? >_>
I think Dr. Oedupe just discovered a cure for world hunger. :p )) ***** Scrya was delirious on the way to the operating room, muttering under her breath and looking about like she was seeing something else that wasn't there. Wraith managed to take hold of her hand at one point, careful to stay out of the doctors' way, and reassured her that everything was going to be fine. The shock had worn off for him, and had been replaced by now by a somewhat odd sense of... calm... a strange sensation that nothing was going to go wrong. Her muttering became louder then, and he leaned in to hear what she was saying. "Scrya...?" He didn't understand what she said back, so he leaned in every closer. "What is it?" Her eyes gazed through him, lost in a world of her own. "Neil..." Wraith stopped to blink at that, taken aback that she'd mention Angel by his first name. "Hey, get away from here, you can wait outside," a doctor brusquely told him then. Stepping back as he was forced away, Wraith watched as they pushed her inside the operating room and shut the doors, the commotion dying down only slightly as they entered. He was left outside with Wolf and Kaitlin to ponder the meaning of Scrya's whisperings. *** It was a moment later when Jax and Rose both arrived, and Jax gave his apology for the mission's outcome. Wraith was still lost in thought, but not so much so that he didn't hear Jax's comments... as such he glanced over towards him, and then at Wolf, and awaited Wolf's judgment on this matter. Part of him felt like saying something for his boss, but he held his tongue and was patient. |
Thomas was sitting quietly in the med area. So much hustle and bustle in this place over one person being shot.
Being a freelancer, he had seen many people get shot. Never was it this big a deal. Then again, he had heard something about Nanites. Apparantly those things made it so injuries like these weren't a problem. He had to remember to ask the doctor about them later. |
That's when it hit him, when someone who was behind him told him of the minor errors he had made. There was no bullet in her chest because this was the real world, and even though what happens in cyber world travels over to the real world, it's not as if what IS on the other side comes through the wire. It was also a stupid idea to flip her over incase there was some damge he hadn't of thought of. He was lucky... this time. "Who was that?" He asked without turning around.
"Uh... it was me, sir." A timid woman stepped foward away from the pack after a moment. "How long have you been awake?" "About... two hours ago." "How much sleep have you had prior to that?" "A good eight hours sir." "Good." Dr. Odupe said, turning around. "From here on out you are going to stand close to me and make sure I don't make any stupid mistakes, ok?" He stepped over Scrya. "I was awoken from a nap with the code red call. I'll be ok, but just make sure I don't do anything else stupid that may put this girl's life in more danger than it already is in." The girl smiled under her mask. "Yes doctor." and took the place she was assigned to. Dr. Odupe cracked his knuckles and stretched his hand out. "Scapel, and get the clamps ready. I'm going in..." |
(( rofl, I love your sense of humor MC :D ))
It seemed Wolf was having trouble collecting himself to answer Jax... starting to speak and then stopping himself, sighing once... so finally Wraith leaned off the wall and answered for him. "Don't worry about it, soldier. I've been on the other side of a few of these... shit happens." |
Jason finally snapped out of his reverie. "He's right, Jax. This wasn't your fault. We didn't expect a gunfight out of this."
|
Monk appeared behind his wife, eyes and fists at the ready. "What do we have here?"
M4 quickly took a step back from his old master... friend... in fear that he was going to be recognized. He hid his hands in the sleeves and walked behind Crow. --- Odupe cut a little incision and resized the bullet hole so that he could get a look inside. He much rather have done an X ray search of the wound, but there was no time. What he saw brought about relief in dark times. The heart was still completely intact. "Ok people, it looks like we're going to be ok. The heart is..." that's when he noticed that the heart was in a pool of blood. "Shit! Stitch kit! STAT!!" The nurse next to him got a needle and thread while he barked orders and made the hole wider. "Get her some morphine in the IV drip. If she can feel what I'm about to do, she's gonna be pissed." He nearly threw the scapel back on the table as he prepared to stitch. "Get some suction in this wound, I need a clean area to work!" A nurse did as he asked and got a tube into the wound. He watched as blood quickly filed through the clear plastic. "We're gonna need some blood in here!" Another nurse rushed out to achive that order. Once there was a clear route to the area he suspected was bleeding, he saw that there was a small slit in one of the arteries. "Here's the problem! If I don't do something quick..." then he realized he was talking when action had to be taken place. He thrust his hands into the wound and carefully stuck the needle into the vein and out the other side of the wound, dodging some of the squirts as the hole became more and more narrow. Careful... he told himself, a nurse wiping off a bit of sweat. He tugged at the needle a few times to make sure the string was tight, and the hole was in fact closed. "Blood Pressure!?" "60 over 20... but it's not dropping anymore." "Ok people, that's one minor miracle, but we're not yet done. Make sure that there's nothing I missed there. I need to move to the abdomen and make sure there isn't anything to worry about there. I'd like to use..." but then he realized that he was talking again when action needed to be taken. He applied the same procedure as he did to her chest, but to his consent, he found no major wounds, just an in-and-out shot. "We're lucky down here. We...?" "Yes doctor. There's nothing to report up here. We've done everything we could." "Stitch her up and make sure she gets that blood! God knows how much she lost..." The nurse that left before had come back with some blood/nanite solution that matched what Scrya needed. "Oh... and everyone..." The room hushed besides the heart monitor and the silent stitching of needle going through flesh. "Good job in here today. You all should be proud." --- After another few minutes of stitching and making sure everything that could be done was done, Dr. Odupe stepped out of the ER in his blood soaked garments into the waiting room. Once he knew he had everyone's attention, he addressed them. "We've done all we could. It looks good, but we won't know until later tonight." |
Jax let out a very large breath he didn't know he was holding. At least no one had died, and no one was going to die.
"Sir, all of the founding members talk about things called nanites. What are they, and can I get some?" |
"Am intr'ested in that, meself."
Thomas spoke up for the first time since getting back. He had seen those nanites in action. With his gloves altering the software of his body in Cyber World, he already had the strength they had when on nanites. But if he had those things....his strength would be incredible. |
"If you recognize my face you should realize i'm no threat to you, and my task is of the utmost importance, unlike my predecessors, I don't like the meaty side of the cyber realms much. They are to inefficient."

I put on my labcoat and science glasses
OOC: Explination Time!
BIC: Jason stood up a bit, and decided as best he could explain the nanite thing. "Basically, when I and the others refer to nanites, we're referring to specially designed nanobots that exist within us. Basically what they do is repair wounds, heighten strength and reflexes, enchance vision, and help your immune system combat various toxins and diseases. I, along with my former CO Jade were 'early adopters' of the technology in order to allow us to fight off first Mastermind's System Agents, and then elements of his First Order when we encountered them as well. Eventually Devin had his nanomachines reactivated from his days in Red Cell, Kaitlin got nanites to help protect members of the UN Security Council, and Scrya, being former First Order herself, was also augmented in the same way. Basically the nanites gave most of us the edge we needed to help fight off Mastermind's attacks and finally defeat him. But...don't think that nanites are a cure-all to anything, they carry a cost with them. Using them too much can burn them out, or leave you weakened and tired. Also, EMP blasts will take them offline for a while and leave you feeling drained. So you may be stronger, but you are by know means invincible." he summed up. "We could probably requisition some augmentations for both of you though, if you find it necessary. |
Jax shrugged.
"It's not neccesary, but I figure that if the sniper game falls through then I should have a fall-back. And, as it stands right now, I'm carrying at best a long-gun with less ammo than I should. I'd rather not find myself up close and unarmed." |
The LA information terminal looked exactly like the LAX of old. Here people and large blocks of info were transmitted across the expanse of cyberspace. They even made the data bundles look like jet liners, to make people feel more confortable.
A man in a trench coat carrying a brief case walked into a bathroom near a class of 34 catholic students. Soon the class of 35 students, was led by a gaggle of penguin like nuns to the security check point. Each child put his book bag in the scanner, and walked through a seperate scanner. it was the 35th child that the sirens went off on. The kid kicked the security gaurd in the chest and grabbed his bag. A screen at the terminal flashed "Virus Detected! Coyote Virus. AI. Wanted for Murder, Terrorism and Sedition. Terminate on Sight." Coyote looked back and saw three individuals with hearts of darkness. "First Orders, shit." he swore under his breath. Coyote turned into his Anthropomorphic form, he felt most powerful that way. he gestured at the wall. "Badaboom!" The wall exploded out onto the tarmac. Coyote dodged the hail of gunfire and leapt through the opening. He landed on his feet, and hit the ground running. He snagged a leer jet shaped data packet with what appeared to be an heiress and her rich boyfriend making out in the cabin. "Sorry folks change of plans." he slammed his hands on the controls and the jet vanished in disapeering pixels. |
"Jade... Ma'm." M4 took a step foward towards her, to which he was met by Monk's fist. In a flash however, he caught it and tossed it aside, and blocked the punch that was soon coming for the opposite side of his head.
This staggered Monk a bit, but he quickly came back with another attack, and was blocked by a similar attack by M4. Actually... much to his surprise, he was blocked by the very SAME attack he was throwing. Monk took a quick step back and glared at his opponant, "Who are you?" "I am... a friend. I good friend of yours. Who I am however is not important, my partner and I have a very important message to get to Jade..." He turned his hood to face her, "Please... we do not want any harm. If you check the guards, you will see that the ones that have been attacked are mearly knocked out. No lethal force was taken to get here. Please... it is essential we get this message to you." |
Jade slowly lowered her guns. The fact that their enemy was able to block all of Monk's attacks was unsettling, but what he did say was true, they hadn't harmed any of her security. Jade took a step back as well and stood next to her husband. "I'm sorry, he's very protective of me, though I can't blame him in this situation. I'm listening, but not for long, so make it quick."
|
"Ah would grahtly injoy some nahnites, 'f ah could."
Thomas's grin grew larger. So much new power...so much more fun to have. Of course he'd agree to it. He just wish he had put it on his contract. |
