Sprite comic on the making, Feedback needed

I have a little fan project here for fun... and would liek some help with feedback and suggestions here...

Following the molds of 8BT im trying to make a Small set of Comics on the world of FF 2 (Yup...)

right now i have a first main quest and 3 main character (im a sucker for a good trio)

Im working my ass off on the Sprite sheets (never done that before) so i would like some hel here if someone can point me to the right direction:

this is what a have so far

This is 90% done, Rosa, one of the main Characters...

I need to clean it up a bit more and need to do some custom Spriting to make more poses (and i need BIG help on it)

and this is roughly 10% done...

http://geocities.yahoo.com.br/ricardohaj/Untitled3.gif

From here will come out the other 2 main characters ( Dante and Zack, Rosa's Brother ) i Still dont know wich pallet to use for each one...

And of course... need more poses...

I have about 10 comics worth of Script and gags... using Ulead Photoimpact 10 (have NO idea how to work on Photoshop though... )

So, any feedback is welcome and questions too

Oh no. You ruined your sprites by saving them as jpegs. Save them as pngs or bmps only.

To be honest, your custom sprites for Rosa aren't very good. The hard thing about making custom sprites is that you have to keep the same style. The width of the outline has to remain the same. You can't "draw" to finish up the sprites, you have to keep the same pixel-art style. Try using Rosa's "kneeling" head as a starting point for the face.

i have all my Sprite sheets saved each one of them as PNG GIf UFO and JPG here... i have NO idea how to work them, so i went "nutz-o-mondo" with those...

My first goal was 10 Custom poses and the 7 Basics ones for all characters...
after i did the first two for Rosa i just said to myself "better stop now before i decide that i have to re-do all of this crap..."

The backgrounds are quite well done and nice actually... but the sprites are quite of a big problem to me now

Looks like you resized the Rosa ones, but not be 100%s. You have to resize them by double or triple or whatever or it comes out funky. I think. Like how the lines change in size.

When you are creating sprites, you must always keep the sprite at 100%. That way, there is no subpixeling. If there IS subpixeling, then it comes out bad (like the resized Rosa sprites). Each pixel should be a perfect square. When you resize, you should resize using MS Paint's "Stretch and Skew" option. Just select your sprite, and change the size. 200%, 300%, 400% are usually good sizes. Anything else will result in subpixeling.

I can't comment on the other sprites because they're too blurry. You should always save as PNG. JPG creates blurryness, and GIF wierds out the colors.

But behind the blur, it looks like all you did with the other sprites is recolored them. Are you new to spriting? If so, then you should first start off with the standing pose, and work from there. Make a few standing poses of the characters, and then move on to the different movements. Dont expect to do it all at once.
Put some good editing into the standing poses, and work from there, alright? Dont just recolor and make some minor edits. Envision what you want the character to look like in your mind, and then make the sprite work.

I made an introductory sprite tutorial. I've only worked with FF6 style sprites, but the basics should be the same for all types of sprites.

Really thanks for the feedback everyone! It helps a Lot..

I've never (3v3r) Worked with sprites before... cleaning they up is hard, and custmizing is even harder...

But im taking you advices and working it out to the first strips... i find thats easier to create the writing material after i have seen the range of visuals i can use...

recently a friend of mine send me this sprite sheet as a "option"... its eeens easier to work with... but i have no clue from where he got it or if he made it...

If anyoen can help me out with tutorials or other sprite sheets i can use to do some customizing on my first type of sprites... im doing a blend on FF2 and 3 graphics and then, dancing aroudn the FF2 script

Those are megaman sprites redone as fighter. Surprisingly well done, too.

Well those Fighter sprites can be found here:

Though yours have peach in places where white should be making it look like he's wearing a bikini.
