You know, IHMN, for the purposes of dramatic struggle, we should be stronger than Team Good anyway. Unless this is Pokemon, and it was never said at any time that Team Evil was really Team Rocket.

Now, if you get Elite Monks, in all fairness we deserve elite NPC units too. They can fight, because they cannot be defeated by the PCs in groups, while we all sit back and drink tea and chat about Garud's arthritis.

In fact, I'll go write up the stats for some Elite Tentacle Rapist demon troops. You cannot defeat more than one, no matter your abilities, they breathe clothes-melting acid, and they desire to take your virginity in all orifices.

Is that preferable to you, a game in which the PCs are rendered useless by NPC characters? Do you enjoy Railroaded Tentacle Rape?

I apologise.

You see, I'm just afraid that DB and I joined thinking our characters might have some small impact on the story arc. Perhaps by actually being able to slay a few NPC monks before being beaten back by the combined forces of Team Good, whom outnumber us.

We're sorry if this has upset you in any way, shape, or form.

If you'd rather we withdrew, please say so. This RP is quickly going the way it did last time, and I fear our continued involvement will merely exacerbate the situation for all involved.

......

Dammit, this is why I can never get sick.

DB and Phoenix, the faceless Shaolin monks that, while they really weren't supposed to be cannon fodder but I guess they are anyway, were the average Monks. The Elite Monks spent their lives training to defeat demons. The way it is. Having two monks, with abilities and skills that they trained specifically for killing your kind, is not going to be very good. I did that so they wouldn't turn into Cannon Fodder AGAIN, like they were last time.

The thing is, yes, your characters are very strong. However, you're not the end-all of warriors in the world. There are powerful people out there. It's not so much that your characters are strong that has some people aggravated. It's just the mindset that just because a character isn't run by someone, it means that you'd be able to kill them without a lot of hassle..

Phoenix, how pissed off would you be if we managed to kill all your minions, just because they weren't PCs? And not just that we killed them, but that we did it in basically one post, and gave the excuse "they underestimated us"?

Now, don't turn this into a reason for the RP to die. Instead of complaining about how your character should be able to kill two of the most powerful monks she could face on her own, use it as a chance to make some good fight scenes against the one of them.

Also, the monks are powerful, but not super uber. They can't do stuff like grab Koyuki's blade, since it has a whole bunch of stuff on it that would likely tear their hands to shreds.

They were. Koyuki's bodyguards in the last RP were killed by Sanjuro and Vance with rather casual things like dropping a tree on them or kicking them with hook-swords stuck in their feet, respectively.

So much for being elite servants.

Really now, it's unrealistic.

Raiden 04-02-2006 05:40 PM

And you were pissed, I would guess?

That was the last RP. Let's try not to do things like that again, 'k?:D

PhoenixFlame 04-02-2006 05:41 PM

Yes I was. I'd expected them to last a bit longer since they were sisters and tended to pair attacks and defenses.

But besides, right. Let us not do this again. Had I known this however, I might have decided they weren't pointless to bring along this time around.

Raiden 04-02-2006 05:51 PM

So it's agreed. A character's NPCs are their own part of their profile. If you're going to kill them, then fine. However, you make the death worthy of the level of the NPC. If the creator of the NPC feels like you killed their NPC too easily or some such like that, we'll bring it up in the Discussion thread, and they'll likely edit it after coming to an agreement.

I think Kirakiri has more than enough NPCs, and I'm not sure about Koyuki's, but yeah. If you make a NPC, post their entire profile here, and get it approved by at least three of the four GMs.

TheBlindMime 04-02-2006 06:03 PM

To clarify from the last rp: Sanjuro didn't drop the tree onto one of them, he crushed the tree down upon them. Since he was superstrong I figured using something as solid as a giant oak would be ok to kill someone with. Also they might have lived through that, And I'm pretty sure that I just said there was a snapping noise, they could have lived through it had you desired.

Also I believe mintaro spent two posts or so fighting the remaining gaurds. So they weren't just wasted through a one line spiel about the attack he created through a simple wave of his hand, while he pulled an airship out of the sky, while fighting a pc, while flying 1/32 of an inch above the ship he was pulling from the sky.

And I don't post this to argue, I just want to make it clear we didn't crush the oppossing npcs with any disregard to those whom created them.

PhoenixFlame 04-02-2006 07:32 PM

I'd never intended to kill the two elite monks in a single line or post, TBM, I had fully intended to draw out a long, over-the-top Wuxia style melee that would do justice to all of the combatants involved. Without relying on any of my own minions to do the job for me.

Rather, IHMN just said I'd die horribly.

So that's the reason why I said that. ;) I'm not sure I fully agree with DB's style either, but meh.

Raiden 04-02-2006 07:39 PM

So, if I read it right, Youji just saved Takin, and has joined Sanjuro in facing down Kirakiri.

You know....Youji may actually have a chance to be wielded. But by Sanjuro? Start being afraid, people.
