I could see that working as a means of making the transition - you can play Twilight Princess on your Gamecube, and then, a few months later when the Revolution comes out, you play it again on that and see how awesome the new controller is. Good plan. I could see that working if the game's and the consoles release dates weren't close to each other, but at least according to the speculation about the latter, they are. Unless this tells us something about the Rev release date. |
Surprised I am not!
It was inevitable that Nintendo would do that. I suspect it was just that feature which caused the delay. I think it is a great idea, because it makes the game both a Gamecube and quasi-Revolution title. This could be the only way to calm both the 'Zelda must be the last goodbye for Gamecube' and the 'Zelda must be on the Revolution to make it more awesome' crowds. Plus considering the first few games on new consoles are mostly not on par with the full capacity of the graphics engines anyway, that wouldn't cause that much of a disadvantage either. As for the release date timing, I am up in the air. I kind of think it is a good idea, mostly to add momentum to the Nintendo hype machine. |
One can only hope that there will be a significant graphics increase upon loading it on the Revolution.

The only thing that pissed me off about this is that they denied it and reconfirmed it about seventy brazillion times.
Glad to know it's true. |
All I know is, this game is going to be a good one. I mean, just consider how much time Nintendo must've put into Twilight Princess, not to mention all th eadded features they promised! There's the new graphics, which is certainly revolutionizing for the Zelda series, and the new, dark storyline -- my thing, really...

Having a game feature that will only work on a new game console isn't actually new waters for Zelda. In both Oracle games for Game Boy Color, there was a shop in each game that could only be entered by putting the GBC cartridge into a GB Advance. You'd get a special ring, and a few other items.
However, this is much larger than a simple shop. This is a whole new way to play, and I absolutely relish it. Although I'm not too convinced on aiming with arrows yet... But if the boomerang setup is like the one in Wind Waker, the boomerang should be awesome. And there are two reasons to keep your Cube undusted: Odama and Kirby. |
Good article over on n-philes detailing why the series' original charm might be in peril.

[FAKE SUPRISE] Oh my Deneir my head is a splode at this news bit![/FAKE SUPRISE]
I think I'm gonna win an Emmy for that one! *ahem* So, anyway, the arrow-aiming on a Revolution controller will be sexy. And the horseback-swordfighting... Man, Nintendo will pay of this game is to short. I wanna enjoy this experience for at least 60+ hours. |

I mean, sure it's movement and all, but is it worth getting a Revolution for? |
It's not justification to buy a Revo, but it sure as hell might be an added reason. If the gameplay truly is as fluid as they say, then being able to swing your sword as Link might be a lot more fun than you think.
