Hey guys, sorry for not posting for a while... Got some really good ideas over the past week or so lemme know what you think of my personal favorite: Getting a site license to play music (think vg overworld tunes, like final fantasy 6: after kefka fucked up the surface), or even movies and anime ('Hi ADV? We'd like to show some teasers of your product in our store. What? You're sending us cool shit? Thanks!' - god that would be sweet).

Sorry folks, haven't posted in a bit. I can't say it's just because I've been busy, I've been vegging out a bit too. So much has happened in the past two weeks, I kinda needed a break from it all. I think after a bit of a refresher, I'm partially ready to tackle this thing again.

Last time I posted, we got the place, and were going to pursue the bank for the funds. The day after I turned in the Letter of Intent to the city, I got a call back from the building department for that city. Apparently what we want to do violates a shit-load of codes and ordinences.

Some are very minor, such as our hours of operation. But one in particular has me a bit peeved, because it pretty much eliminates this whole idea.

Apparently in 1974, the city passed an ordinance stating that if you want minors in your business (anyone under the age of 17), they have to be accompanied by an adult at all times. You see where the problem is.

I asked the lady from the building department if we could contest this law, since it is counter-productive to my whole idea. She suggested I make an appointment with the mayor.

So that's pretty much where this whole thing stands right now. I've made an appointment with the mayor for Thursday at 2:30. The guy who owns the building we want to lease is also going to the meeting with me to show that we are serious about this.

Now, a bit of a confession. I'm having serious second-thoughts about this. Truth is, I dunno anymore. Maybe it's because I'm a bit burnt-out, maybe not. I want this to move as soon as practical, and I've recieved a lot of good advice/ideas in regards to this whole thing. I just dunno.

I'm pretty sure I want to start something soon, possibly within the next month or so. I'm thinking a website that sells shirts and general merchandise that is seriously oriented toward gamers to see what ideas actually work. As it stands, it looks like the whole restaurant idea isn't going to happen anytime soon. After we have the meeting with the mayor (and saying that meeting goes well) we have to go before the building committee the first Wed. of next month. After that, we have to get the building inspected, and probably install sprinkler systems and modify the exits so they are handicap accesssible. Some of these modifications are in the tune of up to $150,000.

That's a large amount of money. I think I want to start a bit smaller then that.

I guess it all leads up to this. If there are anybody on these forums that has had a great idea for a shirt or just some general merchandise, e-mail me (musicalmechanic@lycos.com) (yeah, I know I'm gonna regret putting my e-mail address up here), and we'll talk. Only do it if you are serious about this. I'm willing to finance the idea if it is good enough, and any profits that are made off of the item can be split. I'm dead serious about this. We could use anyone with good art/ideas, don't be shy about it.

I'm rambling. I'm really tired, and I have to go back to work tomorrow. I personally can't wait until I get laid off, and I hope that's the appropriate attitude to have about this whole thing.
