My theroy on why the elves and humans are on the same technological level is that the elves invented basicly everything, the humans just stole all of it the last 1000 years they've been living.

And I'm not TOUCHING the sexuality themes (I can't help but think you're reading into it too much.)

It's the "Human Rush", if you will, of only living 100 years or so. We're in a frickin hurry, so we do things as fast as we can, but the elves take their sweet ass time with everything.

Why don't you think elves no longer exist? Elves breed at an incredibly slow rate. In one year one hundread elf children will be born. In one year over a thousand human children will be born.

The reason why elves are a dying species is because they give birth to children at an incredbily slow rate. Thereby they cannot adapt to change as fast as humans. It's compareing mammoths to mice, Mice will live longer because they breed faster and more numerous.

The problem is not so much the fact that the elves are a dying race. It's the fact that they blatantly hold themselves superior to virtually all other life save maybe dragonkind, and it's this arrogance that's the reason why they're dying. If elves are so "superior," then why are they losing territory and making no progress? The problem is that they sit on their laurels or on their "long-term view of the world" and they do nothing to stop themelves from falling behind in the here and now. The elves had a head-start on humanity from the minute humans crawled out of the caves and trees. Since then, they've made virtually no progress because they felt "curtailing or outperforming humans is beneath my vastly-superior elven dignity." That lax attitude and the apathy produced by it are what allowed the humans to build up right under the elves' noses. They're so busy finding ways to cheat their own laws and claw their ways up the social ladder without regard to the rest of elven society that their own greed and decadence are killing them.

Elves are very efficient at warfare (they defeated Corneria twice,) they're very capable at resource-acquisition (look how readily they cheat each other out of wealth, and how easily Thief cheats others out of wealth), and they've got the most advanced weaponry in the world (the Giant Cannon, for instance.) If they'd just USE their gifts instead of squandering them on petty infighting, they'd be masters of the world. Since they don't, other races are catching up and will eventually render elves obsolete, if their own arrogance doesn't make them extinct first.

To summarize, other races aren't killing off the elves or pushing them out. The elves are sufficiently advanced, at the moment, that for other races to do so would be impossible - Elves always win the war. No, it's the inexcusable malaise of elves that's dooming them as a race. When it does become possible for other races to beat them in a fight, they're going to regret not making progress while they had a chance. As the King of Elfland said, "What the hell have our scientists been doing all this time?"

Fortunately, for them, that's going to be awhile - King Steve still rules Corneria, and unless Corneria is an "enlightened" monarchy (which I doubt, on the grounds King Steve rules it,) Evil Princess Sara won't be able to take the crown without a coup d'etat, as her husband will be pronounced King.

If she has a husband. Sure she's hot, but she's also entirely feministic. To the point she'd cut of a guys gear if he made a bad come on to her. White Mage's hammer is nothing compared to this girls insanity and evil.

Which brings up another point. Another factor may be that the Elves have been at war with the Dwarven nation for who knows how long. One would think that this would make them stronger, but I guess since all their treasury is going into weapons and the such, other things get laid by the waist side. Like their jails, for instance. BM COULD have blown the thing up with one Hadoken, and I'm sure their are other BM's or RM's that could do the same, though with far less ease since that spell is unique to him. They've still got Flair, and Ultima if they're really powerful. If they actually used all that frickin time on their hands, they could easily have Arcitraz style'd jail cells by the time we crawled out of the primordial ooze.

I'll tell you, King of Elfland, what your scientists have been doing. Building the Giant Cannon, that's what. And useing it QUIET indiscriminatly.

The Elves are very stagnant, if you think about it. They're so wrapped up in themselves they refuse to take on the aspects of other civilizations. If elves and dwarves joined as one and started working together, there isn't a force on the planet tha could stop them.

Elves DO have flair, I'll grant. And fabulousness.

Seriously, if the Elves are so great at everything and won the Great Wars, how come they got figuratively AND literally raped when Corneria came for them?

Well elves live for eternity or so much time it's almost eternity.They get bored so instead of advancing technology they just start creating their own civil wars.
