The Weird, The Funny, And The Unexpected
 

I was playing WipEouT purE this afternoon - the Omega Pack, "Burgertown" stage, to be specific - and saw this sign* in the scenery:

I thought that was the last thing I'd expect to see in a futuristic racer, but sure enough, a little further down, there was a bunch of live sausages jumping up and down on either side of the track.



What's some other weird, funny, and/or unexpected things you folks have seen in games?

OK, time for a classic. Super Mario RPG:Legend of the Seven Stars. SPOILER TAGGED DESPITE IT PROBABLY NOT BEING NECCESARY! Rose Town Inn, little cute scene where Mario plays with that kid. Mario getting OHKO'd by the Mario game world equivilant of those silly little plastic Transformers missiles is just hilarious if you stop and think about it for a second.

Of course, there are much, MUCH better ones, but my memory for these things is kinda limited to about 72 hours unless it really stands out.

The Holy Bunny from Guardian's Crusade, and the subsequent request that you take the baby monster to the "Tower of God" to save the world. Definite WTF moment.

And 90% of the series in genral...

Fawful for all three of those.

As for unexpected, I'll go with something in Resident Evil 4.

At one point in the game, you come across a dead end. In this dead-end, there is an altar with a shiny thing on it. My Admiral Ackbar inside me just keeps adamantly screaming "It's a trap!"

Damn thing was an elevator. My expectations sold me out on that one.

Grim Fandango is also on the list for the Land of the Living. Weirdest thing ever!

That is one very quotable villain.

And how could you expect a fight at that point? You had recently fought Verdugo while waiting for the elevator and the two el gigantes.

I was still recovering from those when I was at that point.
