Video Game Olympics
Fellow video gamers, I and my good friend Veritas require your aid. We're doing a "Video Games Olympics" in our local town I like to affectionately call "The Armpit of America". At this point we've got a few events, but we're looking for more. I was hoping you could provide me with some ideas. We'll obviously be limited by what games we own, but any sugestions would be nice. Yes, even for that obscure game that only you and possibly 50 other people in the world own.
Current Events: Classic Fighting: Soul Calibur (Correction: Traditional Fighting) Non-Traditional Fighting: Super Smash Brothers Melee Traditional Racing: Gran Turismo 3 Neato Racing: Super Mario Kart for the SNES First Person Shooting: Goldeneye Fast Foot Movement: Dance Dance Revolution Thanks for your help guys and gals. |
Classic Fighting: Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (Best 2D fighter... 3D is not classic)
First Person Shooter: Anything else but a James Bond game Racing Game: Mario Kart Double Dash (Team event) |
All of those are pretty good. I would add:
Fastest Player: Mario game level or Donkey Kong Country lvl RTS: Starcraft or Warcraft. Possibly Rise of Nations |
Ooh sounds like fun!
First person shooter: Perfect Dark Survival of the Fittest: Tetris |
Other Survival of the Fittest: Any Mario Party
One More Survival of the Fittest: Ikagura |
Classic Platformer 1: Mario All-stars
Classic Platformer 2: Sonic 3 & Knuckles General Puzzle: Tetris or Dr. Mario Target Practice: Duck Hunt Fast Paced: Wario Ware (GBA) |
Vertical Shooter: Ikaruga.
Traditional Strategy: Starcraft Platforming: Super Mario All-Stars or Viewtiful Joe. |
if youre gonna have an olympics, you gotta have a classic in there: get the regular nintendo world games and the power pad.

Thanks for all the sugestions guys. While I am a devoted fan of Starcraft, I'm afraid we're gonna have to stick to console games. However, I do love some of the ideas. I wonder if I know anyone that owns Ikaruga...keep 'em comin.

Actually, StarCraft was released on the N64.
Anyhow, for a true classic, i suggest you take Super Mario Bros. 1, and see who gets the farthest in one life or 5 minutes. Disqualify players who use warp zones and use the SNES version in All-Stars for maximum fairness. |
