Main Characters? Focal Points? The Stars?

Okay, you all think you know who the real stars of the comic are, but who really actually knows who the bigger characters are? Huh? Hmm?

What if BM and Fighter are really the complete main characters, and Thief and RM are just there to accompany the two? What if WM is a Light Warrior and one Lite Warrior doesn't belong? Are the Dark Warriors main characters? Do you think there are other minor characters that will become main characters in the future, like the Other Warriors, or the die god of RM's? What's your opinion, who are the main characters of the comic, and who's more in the spotlight?

Personally, answering my own thread, I think that BM and Fighter are the main goodguys, and Darko/Magus is going to become the true ultimate badguy who fights against BM and Fighter at the end.... and maybe Garland and his group o' four might end up being on the sidelines with RM and Thief..
I've just never seen Thief and RM as big characters.

Well, putting the comedy aside, WM is the main goodgirl and Darko/Magus the badguy. But probably our Lite Warriors will banish Magus using their own methods...

It all seemed to start with Fighter and Black Mage, seeing as how they were the first characters in the storyline. I mean, let's take a look at them.

The way Brian Clevinger put it, the tale seemed to originate from Fighter when he was nudged out of Fighter's Camp '86 for failing to understand the true nature of Vargus's question, despite all the time he had to realize the meaning of being a swordsman of Kenshido -- Zodiac Kenshido. From there Black Mage had bumped into him out of nowhere, but all we knew about him was that he murdered his brother, his sister, and was also pushed out of his school for also not being able to answer a philosophical question correctly. Fighter, being the idiot he was, figured they'd be best friends and had managed to ignore every attempt to kill him by Black Mage, who's been stuck with him ever since.
A lot of humor surrounds them because of Fighter's idiocy and Black Mage's hatred of living. However, Fighter is shockingly skilled with swords and is a powerful warrior with great offensive and defensive ability. Pity he's got no score in intelligence. Black Mage's mastery of the dark arts puts him into the higher levels of spellcasters and gives him great offensive ability in the magical range. Apparently, though, he's poor with defense. Black Mage also appears to be a fast runner, considering the first few comics...
Now, the Lightbulb Warriors originated from them as well. Fighter was the first to spot the sign, Black Mage was annoyed to the point of letting him find two other hardy souls to risk their life in order to rid the world of evil, and it just so happened they merely attracted Thief much earlier, White Mage soon after, and Red Mage not too late after that. Since then, Fighter and Black Mage continued to show a great part in the storyline, having a great deal of antics and incompetent moments alongside Red Mage and Thief. White Mage and Black Belt followed them and would appear from time to time to aid with all the insanity -- but at this point Black Belt will never be a live person ever again -- and they seemed, you know, like close comrades although Black Belt was basically an idiot that not many people admired. You have to admit that his skills in the martial arts are painfully gruesome. Or at least, they were. Fighter and Black Mage have just always had a great part in the storyline, whether it be screwing up a great moment in history -- rebuilding of Dwarfland I suppose, when Black Mage destroyed it a second time with Meteo -- or having to be led and having to lead the team by the order of a god -- Swordopolis telling Fighter to leave for the Castle of Ordeals -- and there are rarely times where they don't affect someone or someplace with their own presences.

White Mage created the universe before Sarda could reach it when it was an empty void. As nice as she is, she's not that patient. She and Black Belt even used the Lightbulb Warriors, practically or literally, as meatshields so they could jump in and save the day at the right moment.

Magus...he's basically from Chrono Trigger and gave Black Mage the ability to learn new powers from monsters formed by Chaos. I'm not sure how it'll turn out with him.

Did Black Belt go to either Hell or Heaven -- if there is a heaven? If he went to Hell, and we ever decided to visit there again, no doubt you'd see the Lich, Kary, and possibly him again. They're still pretty much dead.

I wonder what the Dark Warriors are up to. The Dark Warriors formed from Garland, who was the first to be defeated by the Lightbulb Warriors, but they're nowhere near to being more competent than their rivals. The most intelligent seems to be Drizz'l, though it could be Vilbert since he's so far shown little signs of either intelligence levels and just gothic behavior.

Thief...is the prince of Elfland. He left to steal money and items to save his father, but now he just steals whatever he wants. He's met Raven, he's a ninja who can travel through time it seems and is even quicker than last time. He seems to hold great influence despite how much activity he's shown throughout the comic.

Red Mage's been learning a different set of laws that controls the universe. Think Dungeons and Dragons. Going back to his dream far back somewhere in the 90s or so, someone narrates about gods, about rules, documents and notes they've kept about these rules, and about something called Ascension. He changes his skills and form through changing his character sheet, like when he had changed his class to Thief and even acted as sneaky as one.

I still think that Fighter and Black Mage are the most main of the characters, but everyone's holding a lot of influence to the storyline... I'm not sure about the Other Warriors, and I don't know where the True Light Warriors are, but I do know Sarda's still screwing around with a lot of stuff -- and whatever is King Steve up to at the moment? He's been manipulating a lot of things just to keep his position of power.

Lets face it here people
If i remember from certain sites, kary and lich are two of four monster thingies
so 2 into 4 = 2 left right?
we have NO idea how evil the other two are
maybe im worng though.....i never completed ff1

Ryong 04-17-2006 05:44 PM

There's kraken and uh...I don't remember the other one left.Kraken will probably not be able to talk since, well, he's kraken.Given he's the fiend of ice/water the LW will probably go fight him and see the cultists again.Back on topic, I agree with Seran and Jared.Fighter and BM seem to be the main characters.

Leon-the-Dark-Knight 04-17-2006 06:17 PM

The fourth fiend is Tiamat, the evil counterpart of Bahamut, and she controls the winds. She lives in a high-tech floating tower and has robotic guardians at her disposal. Her magical abilities are on par with black mage, and she has five heads, which means she can hit all of the Light Warriors at the same time, including White mage if she rejoins the party. Tiamat will probably be their most challanging opponent until they take on Lord Chaos. (I know way too much about this game) :sweatdrop

Bweetza 04-17-2006 06:19 PM

Kraken and Tiamat. Tiamat was a dragon being thing with four heads. Apparantley based on Babylonian lore. Kraken was a...kraken, which is a squid-like sea monster. Is said to be so big that you can never see the entire thing at once.

Side note, Kary is either based on the Indian goddess Kali, or based on the creature Lilith, due to the Japanese name of Kary which was Marilith. Lich translates into corpse from old english, the German leiche means the same thing.

EDIT: Bah, procrastinated making sure it was all right and was too late.

I remember now..
I wonder what crazy and erotic adventures the light warriors shall have to encounter to face them in combat?
Hold on....Why the hell would they WANT to face them in combat :o
And yes, Black mage and fighter are the main characters in my book of records

Ryong 04-18-2006 09:37 AM

I doubt they'd engage in an erotic adventure when trying to find a giant squid or a technological advanced dragon.Given how nothing happened when they fought against Kary which was pretty much a Lilith and there was no sexual innuendo...

death_trooper 04-18-2006 09:41 AM
