Does anybody go in for crossover fights?
 

Just curious. Anybody else on these boards go in for the type of "vs." fights made famous by Ryan Sosa's column? I'm talking Hellsing's Alexander Anderson vs. Wolverine, DareDevil vs. Mortal Kombat's Scorpion, and Blade vs. Harry Potter?

Does anyone else love to talk about this drivel as much as myself, and if so, what board should I post this kind of stuff on?

Eh, not really at present. Is it me or has this been asked more frequently in recent times? Might the time be right for allowing another brief moment of versusness, fellow moderators?

There was a succession of official stickied threads for VS battles before this, and then the mods deemed that the idea was played out and prohibited any further similar exercice.

ah, the heady days of the Samus vs. Mega Man X thread. they were the best of times.

i had a thought, if vs. threads are contraband under current rules, what about "&" threads? like, threads discussing what characters would get along really well (Samus and Boba Fett are a favorite of mine).

One time Mr. T threw a punch at Chuck Norris while Chuck Norris simutanously did a roundhouse kick to Mr. T's face. The result was the 80s.

We did have one vs. thread almost a year ago. Pirates vs. Ninja. Pirates won. And that was only allowed because Shiney and Krylo had so much fun taunting eachother with the name of the thread.

Not exactly the only reason, but hell, its one of the more memorable moments of the thread.

Actually I think the topic creator was asking more about comics in which it took place. In that case, maybe this should go in the comics section?

That doesn't stop you from self-inserting yourself into that thread.

I would greatly enjoy the oppurtunity, but the fact is, there will always be those who disagree. It's not, "X vs Y", it's "Why I think X would win". And since it really is just a matter of who can give better reasons, it will depend on who is arguing. Thus, no definitive answer would ever emerge. Also, you know fights would be dragged out on a regular basis. (Ex: The new videogame has a character appear to be stronger or weaker in previous incarnations. This would lead to re-arguments.)

Again, I want to do this... But it's pretty obvious why we shouldn't.

And, of course, it tends to end it flames. Which is never good.
