It's funny, krylo's story is almost exactly how I wound up switching to Firefox. My computer got assaulted by spyware from a lyrics site once too. It wasn't as extreme as having to format, but still pretty ridiculous.

In my opinion, IE isn't as bad as some people tell you, but Firefox is still better.

And, to keep this on topic, that video is hilarious. Especially IE.

One thing I've noticed about FireFox is that it doesn't handle FTP like IE does. Instead of working like a "My Computer" thing, it just gives a list of everything that's on there. Not handy. A couple of sites don't seem to work like they should, either.

Not a big loss though. I do a lot of program-switching anyway, it's just another couple to add to the switch-list.

Eh. I just use Opera.

You must be a fascinating individual. I'm wholly impressed by your personality now, and the GOBS of free time you must have laying around.

My friend uses Firefox, and he loves it. All he has to do is load a site, find the required plug-in, download the plug-in to get the plug in, install them both, so he can open the page that says Firefox isn't supported.

I've yet to encounter a site apart from windows update that isn't supported in Firefox 1.5.

I've encountered some non firefox compatible pages, and I don't know why. Firefox is BIG now. A great number of people use it.

I used IE for years. Then I saw a link on a MUD I played. It was a link to firefox. Because I liked this MUD, I clicked the link and my life has been better ever since.

Sometimes it needs one of those settings changed, and then it's considerably faster.

Also, in response to Bear: I refused to switch from I.E. for a long time. That is until I decided to look up music lyrics one day. I wasn't downloading anything, was just curious about some lyrics. Well I didn't think to close the window and wandered away.

End result?

I ended up having to format my hard drive some months later when NOTHING could kill the adware and spyware that had infected it, switch over to linux for some time, and finally buy a new computer.

Firefox doesn't allow automatic downloads like I.E. does, so there's far less worry of something like that happening again.

I mean, keep using I.E. if you want to. Maybe it won't ever bite you in the ass. I used it for years and years and years without getting a single piece of spyware, adware, or a virus. Even without any protection programs, either.

However, someday it could really bite you in the ass. Even if you don't download every goddamn thing on the internet... which I didn't.

Mmm... security holes.

Yeah, the thing about IE is it's perfectly fine, right up until it isn't. And then you're fucked.

I've been using the opera browser lately; It's actually not that bad. Firefox I just don't like, for no explainable reason. I'm on IE right now.
why am I the only one that thinks whale biologist was incredibly rude there?

What lyrics site? Letssingit is far too adware'ish-related, lyrics.com is terrible and is probably adware related, azlyrics... I don't go there often. All I ever need to use is darklyrics.com, decently low traffic. I mean, it isn't even finished. For stuff it doesn't have, it redirects you to azlyrics.

Low traffic lyrics sites = T3h awesome.

For the record, darklyrics is for metal, not all heavy stuff. If it says metal in your music program, then it should probably be there.
