Avatar Arena: Phoenixflame vs. Ecurt
The two fighters stood within their arena. This place was deep in space, on an asteroid that shot in continuous orbit over the planet. There was a large clear dome on the outside, and that was where the fight would take place.
The inside of the dome was nearly bare except for four obelisks that stood holding the clear dome up with a strange energy. While Ecurt seemed normal, the strange energy holding up the dome seemed to be affecting Phoenix bot, her frame somewhat lighter. At the very top outside the Dome, Raiden was sitting and watching. He didn't need to breathe, so it worked out well for him. (OOC: Space Asteroid Arena. Phoenixflame won the Arena Advantage in the random roll. Phoenixbot has the ability to leap higher and faster than normal.) |
It had been an ordinary boring day at school. The sun hadn't exploded or turned into a war machine, the oceans hadn't been flushed down the drain or turned into fudge, and he didn't even have to throw a boot at Mr. Viewtiful's head today. However, that all ended when the final bell rang.
As soon as he stepped out of his class several Space Ninja Pirates had jumped him and threw him into a sack. The next thing he knew, he was in his Undead Overlord mode and thrown into this arena, without most of his powers and items. "...I have a feeling one of the NPFers is to blame for this. I just wish I knew who." |
Phoenixbot however, had merely been casually shuttled over by one of the P.S.S. Isparalian's Manta-class passenger transport craft, and was feeling... well, feeling wasn't the right term, but she was operating at 99.87% efficiency.
Certainly enough for a little duel. Stepping onto the field some distance away from Ecurt, the android weapons-system cooly regarded the poor forumite, and initiated a full-body bioscan of her new target. *Target: Ecurt.* *Magical Girl Wage-Slave* *Wage-Slave Type [WS-T]* *Vulnerabilities: Unknown. Assume Biological.* *Engagement status: Incapacitate.* Phoenixbot said nothing, she merely stalked toward Ecurt, her emotionless crimson eyes locked on the poor man. She'd noticed that she felt lighter, and her motor response servos had re-calibrated themselves to operate in lower gravity. Certainly an advantage, but she was only 82.98% sure that it did not effect Ecurt aswell. She'd need to be careful. |
Ecurt, at this time, had his back turned to the robot, unaware of the danger that was approaching him. This was because just before Phoenixbot arrived a foam bat came out of nowhere and hit him. The sounds of her arrival were then drowned out by his own yells at the dome, glaring at the obviously invisible audience.
"I know you're hiding there! Just because I can't see you doesn't mean I don't know you're there!" It was then, by some luck, he calmed down and turned around, in time to see Phoenixbot within a few meters of himself. Smiling, he raised his hand cheerfully and waved. "Oi, Phoenix, long time no see! Did the Space Ninja Pirates get you too?" |
Phoenixbot emotionlessly started at Ecurt, and didn't say anything. She just kept walking, but her primary emotion module managed a smile as she closed in. Ecurt might have noticed a tiny gleam in her invariably red eyes, something Phoenix herself did not possess.
"Oi, Phoenix, long time no see! Did the Space Ninja Pirates get you too?" The android, now in assassination mode, warmly smiled and nodded in the affirmative at Ecurt, attempting as best as possible to lure him into a false sense of security. In fact, she moved forward and even extended her left arm to hug him. And then, her right fist shot out at Ecurt's chest, crackling with reverse-polarity electricity to not only crush the poor man, but electrocute him aswell. |
Instinctively, Ecurt twisted tumbled to the left just as Phoenixbot initiated her attack, barely avoiding the electric jab. Immediately rushing back onto his feet, he took a stance, bringing the foam bat in front of him in both hands.
Phoenixbot did her performance all too well. There was simply no way Phoenix would just walk up to him and try to hug him; unless, of course, Pyros had decided to play Cupid again-but he was sure he had locked the bow and arrows away where the Fire Deity would never find them. "You know, Phoenix," he said, still not realizing it was the robot, "Whatever you think I did, I swear it wasn't me! It was Twiddy's fault! All three of them!" |
Phoenixbot stopped, and turned to look at Ecurt once more. Noticing her ruse had failed, she resorted to attempting to speak with him, even though her voice was somewhat lower and more mechanical than Phoenix's. Still, the android didn't suppose they talked very much.
"Oh, I'm sorry Ecurt. Twiddy, you say?" Phoenix responded conversationally, then saw the foam bat that the wage-slave had been carrying. It looked important, and perhaps even magical. "Oh! Sorry about scaring you." Phoenixbot chuckled as best as her secondary emotion emulator could allow her, the voice seeming a tiny measure tinny and unsincere but more or less humanoid, "You found my foam bat! Hehe. Twiddy stole it from me, so you're probably right about it being his fault. Anyway, I'd like it back, if you don't mind." |
Ecurt probably should've noticed how odd Phoenix sounded in her apology. However, in his mind, Twiddy probably did steal the foam bat from Phoenix; Phoenix didn't have any reason to lie after all, did she? If anything, she'd probably help him get out of this place since he found her bat.
"If it's yours to begin with, I don't mind. Here!" Ecurt said, tossing the foam bat to Phoenixbot. "It probably can do something pretty cool, knowing the stuff you make all the time. "You've got to let me see what it does later. Of course, that can wait until after we get out of this place. Hey-how did you get here anyway?" |
Phoenixbot caught the foam bat in midair, and twirled it in a figure eight around her, testing it's balance and special properties, before attaching it in her sword-holster, which was empty due to the lack of her Vibro-Katana.
"Thank you, Ecurt." she said with a smile, "I arrived here on a Manta-Class Personell Carrier, after Raiden created this Arena for us to duel each other on for the pleasure of the rest of the NPF." Phoenix locked eyes with Ecurt again, emotion disappearing from her face, "And I'm afraid I've got you at somewhat of a disadvantage now." with this, the android ran at Ecurt, jumping high into the air, extending her arms like a Gymnast doing a vaulting leap. It was a rather high jump of several meters, given the lighter gravity that Phoenixbot was exposed to. As she fell, Phoenixbot began to spin slowly from air-friction and from the force of her leap, both of her legs pointed at Ecurt, toes-down. Moments before impact, Phoenix violently twisted her upper torso clockwise, sending her entire body in a high-speed spin, legs included as she fell toward her foe in a perfectly-executed corkscrew kick. |
Ecurt was never one who stood around while an enemy performed an attack-this wasn't an RPG after all, and one was free to move when they wished how they wished (barring certain impossibilities, of course). However, this was a special case, for Phoenix's words had at first confused him and then shocked him, paralyzing his body until an instant before Phoenix's kick connected.
By then, though, it was too late to react. Her feet slammed into his chest and, due to the angle of her attack, knocked him onto his back with her on top. His wings managed to act as a shock absorber, dissipating some of the kinetic energy as if they were springs, but did nothing to protect his chest from the rapid rotation of Phoenixbot's body. His shirt was ripped instantly, and he could feel her drill into his body. For a moment, his eyes unfocused then refocused, and grabbed her ankles, abruptly stopping her attack. Gritting his teeth, he threw her off him with as much force as he could muster, though not without noting that her body gave off no warmth. As she landed gracefully on her feet a few yards away, Ecurt picked himself back up and chuckled. "So...that's the game we're supposed to be playing. I really am an idiot...to be fooled twice like that." With his left arm wrapped across his chest, he stretched out an arm towards her, gathering energy for a counter attack. "I'm going to kill Raiden when this is over with, for making me fight a girl and putting me through this trouble," he muttered between heavy breaths. |
