Avatar Arena: Toastburner B vs. MC43
The two fighters stand in the arene. It's built like the roman Collisseum, but has lakes of water surrounded the edges. Spare axes, gladiuses, and lances poke up from the ground in random spots.
Raiden and Rhiya sat in the Emporer's balcony, wearing the leaf crowns of all. (The arena is the Roman Gladiator arena. MC43 won Arena advantage. The arena is lined with water for his use.) |
((OOC: I ran my random character select program, and my first form is the Leafblower maniac))
Toastburner found himself in a roman collisseum-style arena, but with water on the field. Water definitely doesn’t help me, so it must be an advantage for MC43 Toastburner thought to himself. Still, all things considered, things could have been worst. He was in his default form, that of the Leafblower maniac, which was also one of his more resilient forms. It was also a form that featured hands, so it allowed him to use the weapon he had been given before he was thrust out here, the glowing sword. All in all…I’d rather have my leafblower…or have the sword and be in my Wandering Swordsman form…but I don’t have that form for this…blast it, why did I limit myself to four forms? Still, he had the hope that some of his memories from the Wandering Swordsman form he had used in the past would give him a passing skill with the glowing blade he now held. He swung the sword a few times, both to gauge the blade and to relieve his nervousness. He hadn’t really been around MC43 too much, and as such, didn’t really know his powers or abilities. Still, this is a good form to gauge it…I just hope there’s a spawn point in here somewhere…but I guess I can’t bet on that… For a brief moment, TB entertained the thought that MC43 didn’t know about Toastburner’s respawn ability…but he quickly dismissed it. Given how often I’ve been killed around here, he has to know about it. TB continued to get comfortable with his weapon while he waited for MC43 to show up. |
A drawbridge lowered and a man dressed in a Yellow Robe walked out into the center, his face hidden by the hood he had on. He took note of the place as he walked in, Hm... there's water around me. This will certainly help me and my ice spells. It's too bad the area isn't cold; having the water source certainly will make it easier, but I'll have to cool it down which will take time.
He looked across the arena as soon as he finished walking over the drawbridge and saw who he was going to be fighting. Hm... perhaps I should have done a bit of research before I came into here. It's been so long since I've been a regular here that I don't know what he's really capable of. Ah well... as sarge likes to say, "Eyes open... fingers on your triggers... and we all go home in one piece." He looked down at the glove that was given to him, Hm... to be quite honest I wish I had my amethyst staff with me, but I guess this'll have to make due. Apparently one good swing with this thing and it'll be all over. "Hail there!" He called out, raising his hand, "Are you the one they call Toastburner? My name is Rhu... I shall be your opponant. Good luck my friend." Yes he was there for a fighting competition, but that didn't mean he had to be rude about it. Besides... SHE may be watching... he looked around the arena nervously. |
"Hail there!" He called out, raising his hand, "Are you the one they call Toastburner? My name is Rhu... I shall be your opponant. Good luck my friend."
Rhu? TB thought to himself. Ah...not everyone's avatar has the same name as the user. TB raised his glowing sword in the salute that he'd seen in movies in such. "Well met," he said, "and no hard feelings should the fight go you're way." Right...I don't know his abilities, so the smart thing to do would be to play it defensive. On the other hand, if he's strong, he can wipe me out if I'm doing that, and I still don't know if there is a spawn point in here or not. The best thing to do would be to try to catch him off guard. "I hope you don't mind if I make the first move." TB said. He didn't give Rhu time to answer, however, as he came out of the salute and immedately charged his yellow clad foe. |
Perfect. He thought to himself. Now I don't have to stall for time and get him to make the first move. He's going to do the honors for me.
He shifted his weight mostly to his back leg and brought his hands up, open palms in a defensive stance. (For the battle, I'm going to base my actions on the roll of a d20 die, just to make things interesting for myself and I have to limit my moves to chance. You are welcome to act as you will, this is just to help me fight this battle.) |
Well, he didn't outright blast me...that's a good thing, I suppose. Judging by the fact he's wearing robes, he's got to be a mage of some sort...that means it should be to my advantage to get in close.
Toastburner while, he charged, shifted the glowing sword between his hands, hoping to give himself a small advantage in that Rhu wouldn't know what hand he was going to strike with...despite the fact it was painfully clear he was right handed. Of course, if he was weak at close range, and if he is a mage, he would of blasted me on the way up...I am do a rather direct attack. Despite that, TB felt confident about going in close. The primary advantages of his Leafblower Maniac form was strength and endurance to damage. Like the chainsaw maniacs of movie fame, this form of TB could take (comparatively) lots of damage before he went down. Toastburner fought the desire to go for a flashy jumping attack. Once I’m in the air, I’m committed to a single course…easy pickings for a spell. As such, Toastburner stayed on his feet, and closed quickly with the yellow clad fighter. As he closed, he arced out to the right, so he came in at a slight angle. As he closed, he swung the sword in a horizontal slice at Rhu’s torso. |
His eyes move... he's scanning me. He's formulating plans to try and beat me.
(Obvious slash, attempt to backstep, a successful roll >4. D20 roll = 3. Fail) Rhu's eyes were too busy watching his opponant's to realize that he was going to be attacked. He saw the blade just in time to get a quick step back, but not quickly enough without the blade cutting through his robe and his stomach. It wasn't a severe wound, but it was enough for Rhu to grab his side and wince in pain. From here on out, he would have to keep on his guard. He knew he was already on the defense, so he took his hand off of the wound, letting some blood drip out onto the ground. He would have to wait until he could get a second to try and push him away. Bringing his hands up again, this time he kept his eyes on the blade, and not his opponant. (+1 roll on next defensive action) |
TB almost stopped his attack, he was so surprised his attack actually landed. What the...? Wow...maybe he spends so much time on magic he doesn't have any hand-to-hand skills! No, wait...there is still that nagging fact he has yet to blast me. He has to have something up his sleeve...but I can't give up on an advantage because of "what might" happen.
Toastburner brought the glowing sword back in a slice the other way, this time with a slight upward angle, again, aimed above the bloody cut already in Rhu’s robes. |
This time, with a careful eye on the blade,
(Obvious slash, attempt to backstep, a successful roll >4. D20 roll = 11+1=12. Success!) He lept back, finally getting some distance between him and the blade weilder. Ok, time for the offensive. He brought his hands together and started to summon cold air around him, he pushed his plams towards his opponant... (Cold wind push back, easy spell, a successful roll >4. D20 roll = 10. Success.) A good portion of the artic wind rushed off of Rhu and towards his opponant hoping to get more distance between, and a little more time. |
((OOC: Sorry for the wait...my home computer died...again.))
The wind hit Toastburner like a train, and he began to slide backwards. COLD! That's cold! Oh, man, I just lived through winter, I don't need this. TB found he began to slide backwards at an increasing rate, as the artic wind began to put a layer of frost on the ground. TB readjusted the grip on the glowing sword, and plunged it into the ground, using it as an anchor to stop his backward progress. Well, he thought to himself, At least he's finally starting to act like a mage. Using the sword as leverage, TB sprung out of the corridor of wind, but had to leave the sword in the ground. Unarmed as he was, however, TB knew the key to victory was to stay close to the mage. He dashed back up to Rhu, attempting to close the distance before the mage redirected the wind, or before he had time to unleash a new spell. |
