any of you guys have tattoos? what's it like? I think I wanna get one:

cause i'm a big Zeppelin fan. is it worth it?

I never know what tattoo to pick, so I don't have one.

That looks cool enough, certainly if you like Led Zepplin. Just remember that, unless you got spare cash to remove it, a tattoo is mostly forever. A tattoo is also really cool. That looks pretty cool.

Where your getting it also matters... No point in getting a tatoo when it will mostly be covered by clothes or something...

And you gotta be able to handle pain. My teacher got a tattoo on her foot, and she passed out because it hurt so much.

Remember, before you get a tattoo, that to make a tattoo they're sticking a needle into your skin several hundered times.

Get yourself drugged up before you go to get the tatoo, and draw a small picture and write what tatoo you want before you do that.

Actually, that's probably the best thing you can do. People getting tattoos, especially at younger ages, typically don't think very far into the future. If you ever plan on entering into any field of business, it's highly advisable that you not have any conspicuous tattoos. While the "stigma" isn't nearly what it used to be, most employers still want their employees to maintain a professional appearance.

Getting it on your back or upper arm, near the shoulder, is a good place. That tattoo looks too large to fit on the underside of your wrist. (A good place for people who want to be able to show one off without taking off their shirt, but can also hide it when necessary; be forewarned, though; getting it there HURTS. BADLY. HONESTLY.)

Tattoos are definitely neat and worthwhile, but unless it's small, I greatly recommend that you have it placed some place concealable. That way, on the off chance that you're disappointed afterwards, it's not a big deal.

That said, I think that tattoo is a nice one, considering you're a fan; it makes a personal statement. I say go for it. I've been happy.

And I think if your going to get a tatoo, it should be in an easily see able place... Otherwise you just went through a lot of pain for something people never see. A shoulder is a good place, since all you would have to do is move your shirt a little.

Never seen? Always the pessimist, huh?

My advice: If you're getting a tattoo just to show off to other people, you're getting it for all the wrong reasons. If it has no personal meaning, the appeal will quickly wear off. Your friends will eventually stop caring, but your boss won't. Visible ink doesn't jive with monkey suits. Unless you plan on becoming an entertainer or extreme sportsman, keep it inconspicuous.

I'm not saying you and your tattoo should connect on some deep, spiritual level. But- and this is often times stated to the point of being cheesy- a tattoo *will* be with you for the rest of your life.

I assure you, you will most likely regret getting a tattoo placed in a highly visible spot more than having one that's easily concealed. Especially if it's a first tattoo. Start someplace concealable, and if you find you really, really like it, get another one in a more visible spot.

How about some advice from people who actually know what they're talking about? :P

The pain is really different for everyone. My wussy little sister got an armband done on her upper arm for her 18th birthday and said that it didn't really hurt much at all -- one of our cousins, a cop, was impressed by this because he's seen some of his buddies fighting back tears when getting tattooed in the same place. As for getting shitfaced before going in:

But I would say you probably shouldn't get the tatoo, since the main reason is because your a fan... Get a shirt or something, less expensive and you can take it off if you don't like it.
