*80's guitar* Transformers!
Alright. As taken by my avatar I've gone Transformers Crazy again. I'm halfway through Season 1 of G1 Transformers. I already watched Beast Wars:Transformers and I managed a few episodes of Beast Machines, even though I mostly didn't want to.
I'm just curious who else got a real kick out of Transformers. Pick your favorite anythings from it, and discuss. G1? Sure. Transformers: Energon? Go for it. Beast Wars? Yeah. Beast Machi- Okay maybe not everything. I've always been impartial to Rattrap and Blackarachnia ala Beast Wars. Their wit was just hysterical at times, and could make some of the best conflicts. I also laughed anytime Dinobot and Rattrap argued. Depth Charge was a badass, and Silverbolt could be downright corny (but hilarious) at times. Please. Discuss. |
I just bet you're eagerly awaiting the Masterpiece Starscream, aren't you? To go right along with your Masterpiece Op Prime. Oh, and do you have all the World's Smallest Transformers?
http://www.digital-toys.com/transformers.html In terms of story, I liked Beast Wars season 2-Beast Machines season 1. (Hey, say what you will of BM, but season 1 wasn't all that bad, it was only in season 2 that the story got all stupid). Just for style & look, I'd say I'm a fan of the TF show in which two Autobots could combine. Never really watched it, but when flipping the channels I used to think it was neat looking. Then of course, once I started paying attention to the plot, I felt the need to soak my head in acid (the sulfuric kind, not the kind that gets you all trippy), and quickly changed the channel. SWB |
The one thing that bothered me about Beast Wars was the more Optimus Primal got upgraded, the more he seemed to get his ass handed to him, and the more the wins he did pull out seemed to be random dumb luck. Like you know, he'd be fighting Megatron and Megs'd fuck him up, and then Dinobot'd show up out of nowhere and save his ass, or a boulder would come out of nowhere and land on Megs, or whatever.
That one gripe aside, it was probably the best cartoon ever made. Also I was a big Rhinox fan, I don't think he gets near the credit he deserves. |
Transformers: The Movie is easily one of the best animated features ever created by man (as opposed to by, like, moonbeasts, which beat us in everything).
I watched most of the Beast Wars series, and I thought it was pretty funny. My favorite part will always be... well, I can't really remember the characters now, but it was one bot from each side, and for some reason they were having temper glitches. They get into a fight and at the climax the dim-witted waspbot says something like "Are we there yet?" They both scream "SHUUUT UPPP!" and you get a first person view of wasp...WASPINATOR being punched in the face. So great... *tear* |
Been a fan of Transformers as long as I can remember. My favorite will always be Starscream, because he was once a minor Decepticon, who worked his way up to main villain status, and for whatever reason, he REFUSES TO STAY DEAD. I like persistent, psychotic villains like him.
Megatron, I'm not so fond of. He's always been at the top of the heap, it seems, and wasn't he, in his first incarnation, nothing more than Soundwave's gun when transformed? My memory's hazy on that. I hardly remember Galvatron at all. Of the Beast Wars Transformers, I kinda liked Terrorsaur (sp), especially in the episode where he found the mother lode of unstable Energon and proceeded to kick all ass with it. On the Autobot/Maximal side, kudos to whoever designed Rattrap. He was freakin' hilarious, though horrendously underutilized. Yeah, he was the comic-relief guy of the series, but at the very least they could have made him useful more often. *sigh* I need to get back into the series |

Take a look at Feral Scream Part 2 for example (Transmetal 2 Cheetor). ONE BLAST from Dinobot 2's eye-beam blasts him to the ground. ONE. Come on. Primal's better than that. Quote:
Sky Warrior; I thought Beast Machines was okay, but my main reason for not liking it was the whole thing about Beast Wars was that they needed the Beast Modes to handle the energon overload in primitive Earth. Then they made it out to be some sort of 'divine prophecy' from 'the Oracle'. Don't get me wrong, the CGI was kickass and the fighting rocked hard. But I couldn't understand how giant robot fights turned into Hippie Pot-smoking Tree Huggers vs Vehicles. Cybertron doesn't need any goddamn plants, okay? It's a planet of robots. EDIT: If you watched Beast Wars, and DID NOT like "Code of A Hero," you will burn in hell. Also, Fifth; One of my favorite scenes of Beast Wars was Dinobot getting all pissy after Optimus Primal died in the Trans-warp explosion, claiming he should be leader. "With him gone, I should be the leader-" *Rhinox grabs him by the throat* "I'm...in a bad. Mood." "o-okay." |
Silverbolt was my favorite in Beast Wars. His noble corniness always amused me. Plus, the "You SHOT me!" jokes with Black Arachnia were my favorite in the series.
What I hated was at the very end of the series, when they started bringing up prophecies and some sort of Cybertron bible. It came up so randomly. |
The dialogue in Beast Wars was by far the best. Despite repeating myself, Megatron and Inferno made that series (the others had plenty of their own moments, of course).

Its just too bad that while G4 has Beast Wars re-runs, they're so heavily edited that they barely make any sense.

I've noticed that.
They're like 1/4 of an actual episode. So sad. |
